During the Revolutionary War we do not see much advancement in weaponry, but we do see a wide array of weapons such as Artillery, Rifles and Muskets, Pistols, Swords and Sabres, Ship classes, and even Submarines. Although there was not a huge technological leap in weaponry, the weapons were very interesting and effective at the time.
Artillery
At the time of the American Revolution, illiteracy was a common problem. Maybe that is why the men responsible for arming and firing Mortars, Howitzers and Guns (Cannon) were considered the cream of the crop. The troops tasked with firing the Artillery not only had to be able to operate the weapon, but also had to be able to do the calculations required to place their round on target. Mortars came in

Each of these ships are defined by their size and number of masts, but each can serve a similar purpose. Usually that purpose is engaging in combat or transport.
The Submarine Not only did we have ships, but we had a device called the Turtle. Invented nearly 150 years before, it was not until the Revolutionary War that the submarine would be used in combat. A man named David Bushnell would develop the Turtle to deploy underwater mines. The Turtle would fail all of its missions and would be lost at the Battle of Fort Lee when the ship transporting it would be sunk. “Despite the failures of the Turtle, General George Washington gave Bushnell a commission as an Army engineer…After the war, he became commander of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.”(History 1). As one could see, many of the weapons used throughout the Revolution required some form of skill to operate. Artillery, Rifles and Muskets, Pistols, Swords and Sabres, Ship classes, and Submarines all had their roles to play in the war. Some could argue that without these weapons we could not have won. Although these weapons are not effective by today’s standards, they got the job done all those years ago, and without them we would not have the modern weapons we do
This turned into the system they used and amid for World War I. Submarines could attack in two ways. The most common approach to attack was to rise to the top and use the deck gun. Every submarine had an extensive weapon for sinking ships on their deck. The boats they were attacking did not have weapons so it was simple for the u-boats to attack. The second way for attack was to use expensive and important torpedoes.
This could possibly explain why the British were sure they would succeed in the Revolutionary War, as they clearly did not think much of the American military, or lack thereof.
As a result of the American Revolutionary War, American society was altered economically, politically, and socially.
War, blood, anger, hate, peace, independence, tax, massacre, pioneering, and confusion are all words that can be used to describe the American Revolution. A time where we were most vulnerable to the British. A time where America was once one of the lower nations in the world. Infact, we were not even a nation yet. We were a group of people fighting oppression that had been cast upon us by the British. We were the underdogs, and we should not have ever had to get into a war, but we did. We got into war to protect the values and beliefs that we held dear. America got into war to show the British that they can not use them like property. More importantly, to stop the endless taxation. A taxation that was very clearly stated in the Declaration
One major advantage Great Britain had over the colonists was equipment. Great Britain was well equipped for war with both and army and navy. Their Navy was “the best in the world, had 131 ships of the line (at least 64 guns each), and hundreds of other ships.” The army was “one of the best in the world, well trained and disciplined, and well equipped (Document 4). In a description of the continental army it says, “we must view our colonies half armed,” meaning compared to Britain they have little to no equipment (Document 5). Obviously, the British were more equipped for war than the colonists.
Identify the strengths of the British army at the outset of the Revolutionary War and account for England’s failure to win it quickly.
While historian Gordon Wood won a Pulitzer Prize arguing that the American Revolution was radical, it is in my opinion that this war was no more radical than any other war ever fought. By reviewing the war from different angles such as the causes, leaders, economic state, and social movements of the war, it becomes clear that the war was indeed not radical.
Why may you ask? Well first of all, for him to join the Militia in the first place was brave. He showed he would not only fight for his rights but die to try. On the other hand, the British troops were promoters of the status quo. Meaning they wanted everything to stay the way it was and they were also willing to fight for it. Now moving on to the innovation/technology, I’m going to explain how they affected the outcome of the battle.
The American Civil War, lasting from 1861 to 1865, was one of the bloodiest wars that the world has ever seen. The number of casualties resulting from the Civil War was a staggering six-hundred and twenty-thousand American soldiers. Although there are many explanations as to why the Civil War was so murderous, such as disease or lack of medical advancements, the main reason why it was so deadly was because of the newly introduced technology and weaponry. Some of the new technologies that came about during the Civil War were rifles, railroads, ironclad ships, and submarines. Each of the four devices had a unique history and were used significantly in specific battles, which in turn, affected
The Revolutionary War was the start of the wars the America would be involved in and at this point in time the technology for an advanced type of battle was not there. The communication became very difficult at times since telephones did not exist yet. Orders and letters had to be delivered by horse and rider to their destination. Firearms through those times were very simplistic. The guns
The use of Artillery in the Vietnam War The Vietnam War took place from the year 1955 to 1975 and was mainly fought in Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia. The war was aimed at reunifying Vietnam and it involved the government of North Vietnam and South Vietnam. (Galvan, 2014). However, the two governments received massive support in form of artillery weapons and military personnel from various allies.
In Medieval times weapons were a necessary part of life to protect them from enemies and invaders. Some of the weapons include swords, polearms, and range weapons. Swords were most commonly used. Polearms is a closed combat weapon. Ranged weapons are used to launch things.
The technology and new battle tactics impacted the way the soldiers fight by in the Civil war they used bayonets, rifles, cannons, and boats. The battle strategies they used were flanks that are in formation together followed by a leader. An example of technology is “We pontooned the Escambia and then marched nine miles and camped”. The pontooned helped in the transportation in crossing the river of Escambia faster than they would before and to carry their equipment. “Something is up for the rebel pickets do not fire on our men and say they have been ordered not to”. This was a battle strategy used to follow all the commanders commands and to hold fire when need. This impacted the way soldier fight by not allowing them to fight without permission
In my observations of the Medieval time period I found the weapons to be brutal, and atrocious. From war hammers to napalm to the arquebus, this was by far the most in-humane advancement in weapons apart from modern day. The Medieval time went from about the 11th century to the 14th. During this time survival depended on the power of the certain ruler people served under. The power of the ruler depended directly upon his army and the army upon their weapons. This is why we see such rapid advancement of the weapons in Medieval times. In this time "might" was right. "A knight or any other warrior is only as effective as his skills and the quality of his weapons" (Medieval Weapon Links). This
Among the things that saw great development were the weapons that were being used in the
