Regarded for its unapologetic dark humour, quirky animation style and loved, but problematic characters are some of the few reasons audiences gravitate towards this series. Rick and Morty is a series that almost anyone (who is an adult) could jump into at any episode, without having to follow any pervious episodes or canonical references. Not only can one follow the series on a casual basis, but if one would want to look deeper into some of the show’s lore, countless movie and show references, they would find a colourful array of them. Allowing audiences to forget continuity (or investigate freely), the audience puts their efforts into understanding the characters, which are a driving point in most, if not all episodes. Rick, although an apathetic drunk and super genius, has a deep seeded hatred for himself and has (often misplaced) compassion towards his family and friends. Morty on the other hand is your typical naive 14 year old young man, but also has his quirks and character traits that are relatable. Morty’s insecurities are challenged by his grandfather Rick, and although not always concluding on a positive note, it has a tone of reality. Morty’s parents Jerry and Beth Smith and sister Summer also have their fair share of dysfunction and drive a sub plot of character development that affect the family dynamic as a whole. So, if you are in the mood for some dark and crude humour, with the softest touches of compassion backing these punching points? Then Rick and Morty is a show you can casually watch with some friends on a weekend and share some deeper connections you had with the show, or just shout “wubalubadubdub” without any reason and confuse your audience without letting them in on the inside joke of the
According to Jim Piper, “Films aren’t just about people; they are also about the relationships people make…Often, in fact, a relationship is the movie” (159). It is Rick’s relationships that make this movie.
Patsy and Joby’s settinga are alike in many ways. One of those ways is the fact that there is lots of conflict going on in each story. One of those conflicts is in Patsy’s story and it’s the racism. Text from page 107 states the white doctor being racist to the black women who was once a slave. Page 107 states, “…said the doctor, ‘I don’t see what you people want to come up here for anyhow. Why don’t you just stay down South where you belong? You come up here and you’re just a burden and a trouble to they city.” Text from page 113 states the fact that the conflict in Joby’s story is the war. Page 113 states, “This story is about a Civil War drummer boy.”
Branch Rickey a pioneer in the sport of baseball, taking it to where no owner of any baseball club even thought to go. Rickey was the first baseball executive to successfully, or even try to sign a black man to a major league contract. In 1946, Rickey signed on Jackie Roosevelt Robinson from the Kansas City Monarchs, a negro league team, to the Brooklyn Dodgers’ Triple A baseball team, smashing the racial barrier present in baseball for the last five decades. Rickey is a significant figure in American history because he is the first person to integrate a Major League Baseball roster.
There is no doubt that slavery affected many lives of across the country. However, little is known that the harsh practices of slave trade occurred right in the middle of our nations capital. After reading the articles by Ricks and Goodheart, I have broadened by knowledge on just how extreme slavery was in Washington D.C. Throughout these articles, the authors discuss the seriousness level of slavery and the extremes individuals would go through in order to escape. Washington D.C. was conveniently located in the middle of the border between the north and south, which led escape efforts to be fostered in this area even though it was the capital.
During Dan Mullen's introductory press conference as the new Florida Gators head coach, he emphasized multiple times his football team will play with "relentless effort". In the short 8 days as the Gators head coach, Mullen and his staff have been showing that same relentless mentality on the recruiting trail. Taking over a new program with three-weeks before the first signing period, his staff has been working around the clock.
After President Michaelson was elected, the Law Enforcement gloves came off and Malcolm X's, "by any means necessary," was turned on its head. Stop and frisk became a national obsession, and the good citizens believed it was a necessary sacrifice of what the President referred to as, "small freedoms," to bring about a safer world. The exponential expansion of the Patriot Act by the super-majority Congress created an immediate state of inner siege in the United States.

When I was in middle school, I first discovered Family Guy late at night while I was channel surfing in my hotel room. Usually, cartoons are never shown at night, simply because most kids are asleep by that time. I didn’t find anything decent, until I saw this cartoon. I figured it was for children, but I after I saw the theme song, I second guessed that. I continued to watch the show and even though it clearly had adult humor, I still continued to watch it, because I found it hilarious.

Despite the Supreme Court’s memo reminding everyone that the United States Government continues to operate under a separation of power, only 22 years passed before another President was brought before the Court due to overextending his presidential authority: Tricky Dicky. At the center of United States v. Nixon (926-937) was the now-infamous Watergate scandal. Leon Jaworski, the special prosecutor in charge of investigating a prior break-in at Democratic headquarters, obtained a subpoena ordering former President Richard Nixon to release audio tape recordings and documents believed to contain evidence connecting several of Nixon’s closest aids – and possibly Nixon himself – to the break-in. Nixon’s attorney argued that the situation should
Rick and Morty is an underrated yet highly praised show that encompasses and represents the idea of Johnson’s Sleeper Curve theory. The program focuses on Rick Sanchez, an alcoholic and unconventional scientist, and his grandson, Morty Smith, a rather naïve and good-hearted high school student. Through each season, the two go on a variety of misadventures, with Morty often traumatized in the end. Typically, there is another scene dealing with familial issues going on, with the show cutting between the two. However, the heavy emphasis is placed upon Rick and Morty, since they are the eponymous characters of the show.
