Rikki the Valiant
The mongoose who is a hero, seems impossible for a small creature to fight dangerous reptiles such as snakes. The King Cobra is a very venomous snake in the world. On a summer night, there was a terrifying flood that made animals lose their homes. One animal in particular, such as a mongoose, almost died by the flood being half choked with water. A family of three saves the poor mongoose and gives him food to eat. That mongoose name is Rikki-Tikki-Tavi, but Rikki for short. The story of Rikki-Tikki from the medium print is much more different and similar in some parts of the video.
In the medium print, Rikki was saved by the mother and son at the jungle in India. Rikki then bumped into Darzee and his wife crying for the loss of their egg, which was eaten by Nag. Nag was confronted by Rikki for eating Darzee’s egg and

Rikki then dumped into Darzee and his wife who were upset by the loss of an egg. Rikki then met Nag, but had a short conversation with him after his wife, Nagaina, tried to attack Rikki. Nag and Nagaina then left into the melon patch to check on their eggs. Karait the comes out of nowhere and fights Rikki, only to lose the fight with Rikki. The father of Teddy throws the dead snake over the wall to not alarm his wife. Rikki hears the plans of Nag and Nagaina one night and decides to put his plan into action. Nag wraps himself up in a vase to be ready and strict the mother and father if they were to ever come into the bathroom. Rikki attacks Nag without him knowing and wins the fight by Teddy’s father who shot the dead Nag twice to be safe. The news of Nags death was spread by Darzee who was signing much too loudly. Rikki destroys the eggs of Nagaina’s and she runs away into a hole. Rikki follows her into the hole but never comes out. The video ended with Rikki killing Nagaina and her egg inside that hole and comes out the following
Rikki-tikki recognizes an almost hidden snake caused by it’s similar color of the ground that he hides upon. Dust snakes have as deadly of a bite as cobras and their small size comes as an advantage, allowing them to turn unexpectedly in any direction. The battle between the mongoose and snake is what begins the trust of Teddy’s father, and makes Rikki-tikki a savior in the family. This scene also leads to the death of the two other snakes, Nag and Nagaina by giving Rikki-tikki the confidence to battle the other snakes. Which allows the critters to feel safe at home.
Rikki didn't know where Nagaina was and started to get mad at Darzee because he was singing and didn't want to stop. He got mad when Darzee never told him where Nagaina kept her eggs at and Rikki snapped back. When Rikki left to go bite the tops off of Nagaina's
Between the two mediums, the conflicts between characters are comparable with minor variations. The main disagreement in the story and the movie is the rivalry between Rikki and Nag and Nagaina. Rikki’s and the cobra’s clash began as soon as Rikki went out to explore the garden. He met Darzee, the tailor bird, and his wife who was mourning the loss of one of their babies “because it had fallen out of the nest and Nag ate it.” (Kipling) Another dispute is between Rikki and Chuchundra about Chua’s comment “that Nag is everywhere.” (Kipling) A thrilling clash of rivals occurs when Rikki goes to the melon patch and smashes all of Nagaina’s eggs. Notwithstanding the similarities of the mediums, a difference materialize in how Rikki comes to face Karait. In the book it states “It gave him confidence in himself, and when Teddy came
Nagaina is the main villain in this story. She is very evil when she first tries to kill Rikki-Tikki in the garden. Then a little later in the story, she finds Rikki-Tikki’s owners/family and threatens to kill them! Rikki himself says “Now I have Nagaina to settle with, and she is worse the 5 Nags.” (24) Nag is her dreadful husband that also fights Rikki. Nagaina is very
Angry as he was, Rikki-Tikki was very frightened when he saw the size of the big cobra...then he jumped…[and] braced his back against the bulge of the red earthenware to hold down the head”(Kipling 68-69). This proves that Rikki-Tikki was brave enough to at least try to fight Nag and try to kill him, which he did. Then, Rikki-Tikki tried completing the task by killing Nagaina, but, “he went down with her [into the snake hole]-and very few mongooses, however wise and old they may be, care to follow a cobra into its hole”(Kipling 73). In the quote, Rikki-Tikki tried to follow Nagaina but ended up going into the snake hole with her, but he still got rid of her in the snake hole. Rikki-Tikki ended up learning that bravery and determination will help you reach your goals.
Teddy and his family had Rikki for quite some time, and he was curious around the house. In the movie right before bed Teddy was taking a bath Rikki was climbing on the side of it and fell into the tub. This is a similarity of both the story and the movie. One difference is written in the story that “Rikki nearly drowned himself in the bathtub, put his nose into ink on a writing table, and burnt it on the end of the big man’s cigar.” (Kipling 144). The movie didn’t show any of this it hadn’t been shown. One night when the cobra couple nag and nagaina were talking outside of the house they were planning on killing the family so Rikki would go away and leave the
Rikki-Tikki-Tavi was one brave mongoose who had the courage to go up against the fiercest animals on the planet, Cobras. (Movie)(Kipling 143) The story took place in Segowlee Cantonment, India in a house’s garden where Darzy the bird and his wife, Chucundra the muskrat, and the deadly Cobras live. (Kipling 143) The Rikki-Tikki-Tavi was a mongoose who got washed away from his home and ended up with a new family. He would would end up coming across three snakes in the large garden and killing them. Cobras, are one of the most dangerous snakes in the world. You must be brave to fight a cobra if you are not you could be snatched up any moment. Nevertheless Rikki-Tikki-Tavi the book and the movie are the same story they have differences such as the Plot, characterization, and the conflict.
Rikki-Tikki Tavi is a short story written by Rudyard Kipling that takes place in Colonial, India. Rikki-Tikki, the principal character, is a snake-eating mongoose that gets flushed out of his home and taken in by a family. The story shows the good and evil in people and the fight between the brave mongoose and the two snakes, Nag and Nagaina. In the end, Rikki ends up killing the two snakes and to save the family that adopted him. I believe that Rikki is not guilty and that the snakes were attempting murder.
Then, Rikki Tikki killed Nag by himself, and Nagaina gets mad and tries to go and kill Teddy and his parents. The next day Darzee sings a song about how Rikki killed Nag. Later,Rikki smashes Nagaina’s eggs but, one. Darzee tells him that Nagaina is going to kill the family. He runs to find her as she was getting ready to strike at Teddy. He threatens Nagaina to fight for her last egg. Nagaina fights Rikki Tikki and they rumble into a hole. Everything's still and Darzee thinks that Rikki Tikki is dead. She sings his “death” song. At the end of the song Rikki comes out of the hole happy and triumphant.
One main part of the story is when Rikki had shown up to the families land and they decided to take care of him instead of burying him. Another main part of the story is when Rikki had looked around the house to take familiarity into the new house when he overheard Nag and Nagaina talking about how they were going to kill the family. Rikki knew that he couldn’t let this happen. So he hid out of Nag’s sight until Nag woke up and Rikki finally killed the evil Nag. Also, when Nagania had been in the house of the family, Rikki came to her and told her that he crushed her eggs and challenged her to fight Rikki. Rikki had made this decision to protect his family. To conclude Rikki and the family lived safely in the bungalow for the rest of their lives. ”Being brave means to know something is scary, difficult, and dangerous, and doing it anyway, because the possibility of winning the fight is worth the chance of losing it.” Emilie
Next, Rikki-tikki gets washed away by a flood near a bungalow. A young boy named Teddy finds him and takes him in a a family pet.The family thought that
Rikki Tikki should be proud of himself because on page 15, Rikki Tikki said I have never seen a snake before in his whole life. When Rikki Tikki seen Nag, he said to Rikki Tikki did not have time for that. Then Rikki Tikki and jumped on Nag and killed him. When Rikki Tikki killed Nag his eyes were red . On page 16 Rikki Tikki eyes got red again and he Nagaina that came out of their house and see Rikki Tikki. On page 21 Rikki Tikki and Nagina were getting ready to fight and when the Nagina look at Rikki Tikki, his eyes were red again and that's when Nagina got a little scared and then Rikki Tikki got the Nagina and went into a hole and killed him.On page 16 Rikki Tikki saw another snake, his name was Karait. Karait said I'm death with
To begin with, Rikki-Tikki-Tavi is a brave mongoose and will do anything to protect his family. For example, the author states, “Tricked! Tricked! Tricked! Rikk-tck-tck!” chuckled Rikki-tikki. “The boy is safe, and it was I—I—I—that caught Nag by the hood last night in the bathroom” (para 96). Rikki risked his life to distract Nagaina by beckoning her away
A small house in India is where they were. The places where Rikki Tikki have their skirmishes are, in the courtyard. This means Nag, Nagaina, and Rikki Tikki have some of their fights. Even though that is where they have their fights the part when Rikki Tikki is when they are in the bathroom of the small house and this is when Nag says "Now, when Karait was killed, the big man had a stick. He may have that stick still, but when he comes in to bathe in the morning, he will not have a stick.”
Because Rikki-tikki keeps trying to end the snakes, a muskrat warns him that he might be killed. Kipling is trying to suspense for the reader that there is a chance Rikki could die. To create the idea that Rikki will win the war with the snakes Kipling uses “At the bottom of his cold heart he was afraid”(Kipling 467). Nag the cobra may try to act like he will win, but he knows mongooses usually win. To add
