The story Romeo and Juliet is a story written by William Shakespeare and is mainly about rushed love and making hasty decisions that leads to heave consequences. The story mostly revolves around main characters Romeo and Juliet. Romeo is handsome, intelligent, and sensitive. Though a little immature. He lives in the middle of a violent feud between his family and the Capulets, all though Romeo gets himself in fight and arguments he’s not interested in violence. And Juliet is 13 years old and the daughter of Capulet and Lady Capulet. Her character at first appears to be quiet, shy and innocent. She then meets Romeo and shows she is not as shy and innocent as we think. Romeo Juliet is overlooked as a love story and it's more than that Romeo and Juliet love is rushed . For example While most good relationships take years to build, Romeo and Juliet met two hours before they decided to get married, romeo and Juliet fell in “deep love“ for no other reason but looks and appearances. This is proven on many occasions threw out the story, for example at the feast when Romeo thinks Juliet are attractive, just for that one reason he approaches her and lands a kiss. “My only love sprung from my only hate!” Said juliet indicating that she already loves romeo after the first time they met (1.5.138). This type of fowl rushed love, no one knew about their love. This causes a lot of potentially avoidable problems. One of the witches, in Act 3 scene 1 , is the fight with Tybalt. If Tybalt knew that Romeo married his cousin , He would not have fought Mercutio and Romeo. Because of Romeo and Juliet's rushed love , mercutio and Tybalt Die , and addition to Romeo getting banished from fair Verona (3,1,186). Furthermore rushed love leads Juliet to marry a man who soon to be banished before they got married than Romeo and Juliet would have made better plans for their future.because romeo was banished so unexpectedly and the habit of Juliet and romeo rushing their love , juliet didn't give friar John enough time to relay the plan to Romeo , where she fakes her death (act 4 scene 1) . Both Romeo and Juliet die.Romeos fight with Paris at the end of the story is a consequence of rushing their love. Paris is under the impression that he
First, together they decide to get married and they Friar Lawrence marry them. “And there she shall at Friar Lawrence’ cell/ Be shriv’d and married….” (2.4.165-166). Secondly, Romeo then kills Tybalt in an act of vengeance, which causes him to get banished from Verona and furthermore Juliet and cries out “Ha, banishment? be merciful, say ‘death’:” (3.3.12). Thirdly, Juliet decides to take a sleeping potion so she does not have to marry Paris. “O bid me leap, rather than marry Paris,/ From off the battlements of any tower,” (4.1.77-78). Finally, Romeo arrives at the tomb that causes him to kill Paris and find a “dead” Juliet. He then believes “That unsubstantial Death is amorous,” (5.3.103), and he takes the poison and kills himself. If Juliet had woken up a few minutes earlier he would not be dead along with Paris. However she does and stabs herself since one cannot live while the other is
The tragedy of Romeo and Juliet is a story that shows the issue with falling in love too fast and not thinking things through. Romeo and Juliet were
Love, Haste and Contrasts in William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet In this assignment, I will be looking at the play of Romeo and Juliet. I will analyse how Shakespeare has used language in the play for symbolic effect. I will observe on how Shakespeare has presented love and the way in which Romeo and Juliet talk to each other, I shall decide whether their love was real and talk about their parents contrasting views and opinions. I will also comment on the plays relevance today and see how Shakespeare has used dramatic devices and structures to enhance the conversation between the young lovers.
The magnificently written Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare is a tragic tale about lust and love, and the lovers take their own lives. The tale takes place in a Italian city called Verona were two rival family are in a dispute against which house is superior, but out of this, two destined lovers found each other and fell in love. But in thinking too fast their plan gets crushed and turns into something far more depressing then it should have been.
“Things are not always what they seem; the first appearance deceives the many” - Phaedrus. This was the case with Juliet Capulet. She may appear to the crowd as a radiant damsel, but it was what was inside of her that produced the outcome of Romeo and Juliet. The tragic tale of Romeo and Juliet is based on two young lovers from feuding families that despise each other. Only a few days after they meet they get married, separated, and then they both ending up committing suicide because they couldn’t see each other. Throughout the story Juliet exhibits a multitude of trates. Juliet, in Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, is a character that displays impulsiveness, foolhardiness, and tenacity.
Romeo tried to break up a quarrel between Mercutio and Tybalt that was gradually becoming physical. Tybalt saw this and tried to fight him as well. However, Romeo did not wish to fight. Romeo felt a certain family-like love for Tybalt since him and Juliet were married and Tybalt was now his cousin as well. Tybalt did not know this and continued to provoke a fight anyways. Maybe, if Tybalt knew about the marriage, then the fight could have been avoided. At the same time, however, Tybalt might have been angry if he knew. The fight went on and ended with Mercutio losing his life and Romeo avenging him by killing Tybalt. The Prince of Verona then banished Romeo from the city, stopping him from seeing Juliet again. Due to the secrecy of their marriage, no one but Romeo and Juliet themselves saw this as a problem. Since Lord and Lady Capulet did not know about their daughter being married, they arranged her marriage with Paris. This then led to Friar Lawrence's second plan which involved the sleeping potion. When the potion put Juliet into a death-like sleep, only her and Friar Lawrence knew that it was a hoax and everyone thought she was dead, even Romeo. This caused him to kill himself to show his love and try to be with her in the afterlife. When Juliet woke up from her slumber, she saw a deceased Romeo and killed herself as well. This second lie and secret of Juliet faking her death to get out of marrying Paris caused the deaths of Romeo, Paris, and herself. Once both the Capulets and Montagues heard of their children's deaths and of all of their secrets, they became guilty and ended their feud. This is one of the only positive outcomes to come out of this tangled web of
Ah, young love. How innocent, how sweet. How deadly. Romeo and Juliet is the tale of two young teenagers who get married after a party, get banished from a town, and commit suicide. It truly is a beautiful story However, Juliet, the female protagonist, is heavily dependant on other characters.
Romeo and Juliet is a play of two young starstruck lovers that are destined for disaster. Romeo and Juliet are thirteen years old just teenagers. People who have relationships at such a young age are destined for trouble. The most destructive decision in Romeo and Juliet is Romeo deciding to court Juliet. If the two young lovers would not have captivated each other, destruction would not have broke out throughout the city of Verona. If Romeo would not have courted Juliet, then no death, premature love and dishonesty would have come about in Verona.
The love story that is the basis of almost every love story today is just two teenagers being stupid and making bad decisions. These two crazy love birds spend almost no time together; their total time on stage together is mere minutes. The rest of the time the teens are just fantasizing about being with one another. Though Romeo and Juliet did not just make bad decisions in the presence of one another, most of their dumb ideas came from being apart. This love was a short and sweet one , but it ended in the biggest shock of the time and it still shocks generations long after.
Did Romeo and Juliet rush their relationship because they really loved each other, or because it was the only way to be together? In the play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, a tragedy strikes, hurting both the Montague and Capulet families. If Romeo had calmed down, and Friar Lawrence and the Apothecary were more responsible, Romeo and Juliet could still be alive. I blame Romeo for his and Juliet’s death. If he never killed Tybalt he would have never had to go to Mantua, and they could have told him of Juliet’s fake death.
To begin with, it is shown near the start of the book that the two main characters are childish. Before Juliet, Romeo said he was in love with her cousin Rosaline. The two of them never talked before, or very little. When Romeo and his friends go to a party, Romeo goes for the sole purpose of seeing Rosaline. He ends up seeing someone else instead. The beauty he sees is Juliet. They immediately fall in love with each other based off looks considering they had one dance and knew nothing of the other person. Just like that, Romeo moved on from Rosaline and onto Juliet without thinking twice. Even after realizing the person they were newly in love with was from the family enemy, they still decided to pursue this fresh
Romeo and Juliet is a love story in the form of a play by William Shakespeare. The main message of the story is simple but meaningful: infatuation is powerful. Especially at such a young age. Love, in and of itself, is a rollercoaster of feelings and emotions, each story being unique- but even more treacherous and unpredictable is infatuation. The power of obsession and attraction is terribly evident in vastly different ways throughout Romeo and Juliet.
Shakespeare’s ‘Romeo and Juliet’ is a story that will live on forever in the world of literature. This story illustrates how two people can have an instant connection but not really love and because of the dramatic way it’s portrayed it may send a false message to many youth today. I feel that the way Shakespeare portrayed love in this story is overdramatized and does not reflect how it would or should happen in real life. In my personal opinion, love is something that you have to work on. In the story, Romeo and Juliet constantly say how much they love each other and can’t live without each other, however, I feel that you should know someone for a while before professing your love and undivided attention. I also believe that Romeo and Juliet are much too young to be having these feeling and actively pursuing them, I feel the feelings between Romeo and Juliet have is more like lust than love.
We all know the classic love story, Romeo and Juliet. Written by William Shakespeare, tells the story of two young lovers who, because of their families, can’t have their relationship known. However, this tale of love is nothing but a tale of lust for two reasons. First, they had just met. Second, they are being driven by hormones.
