Ryan Long was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley Los Angeles. His childhood was marked by significant challenges that he had to over come. Ryan was born with a congenital deformity known as club foot. Ryan’s father left when he was very young, leaving his mother to raise Ryan on her own. Ryan spent the first two years of his life in surgeries and was immobilize by casts and bars bolted to the sides of his legs. Ryan and his mother, together, faced these challenges head on. As Ryan got older, and his legs grew stronger, he made up for the time he lost not being able to run and play with a zeal for sports and very little concern for much else, especially academics. Ryan did not take the decision to drop out of school lightly, however, thanks to the guidance of his grandfather, and the memory of the sacrifices his mother made as a single mom, he decided to quite school to focus on being a dad. It’s a decision he’s never regretted. Aaron Christopher Long was born on February 9th, 2001. Ryan was inspired by the birth of his new son and wanted to provide him with the best possible upbringing, so he went back to school and studied bio-mechanics, kinesiology, and health so that he could become a personal fitness trainer. Introduction: Throughout the book of Into The Wild Chris McCandless is known to be a wacko reckless idiot, and is also known to be courageous and heroic. However does a courageous person go out into the wilderness knowing that the outcome will be fatal? People viewed him from different perspectives and also have broad range of opinions of this young man. Some deemed him to be incredibly dim-witted or a man that simply just followed his heart. Evidence shows that Chris McCandless is actually a mix of both. The first opinion that described McCandless was brainless, idiotic, and extremely foolish. Many passages from Into The Wild can support this outlook.

Throughout his short lived life, Ryan White brought about awareness and educated many people about AIDS. He was born in Kokomo, Indiana and later became the face of AIDS during the mid 1980´s. White, being a hemophiliac, contracted the disease from a contaminated blood treatment. After being diagnosed with AIDS in December of 1984, the doctors gave White only six months to live. Ryan Hoffman was a college football player in North Carolina. He suffered from multiple injuries on his head, which have caused his brain to malfunction and lead him to being violent. These brain injuries from excessive hits on the head caused Hoffman to lose the ability to have strong thinking skills. By losing the ability of having strong thinking skills, Hoffman lost his dream of becoming a N.F.L player. He became aggressive and lost self-control, which caused him to him to eventually live on the streets. His family took him to several psychologists, but he never went back after the first visit because he did not want to find out the truth about his illness. Ryan Hoffman wants to be independent and improve his lifestyle, but he does not have the initiative to succeed.
I agree with you that it takes a certain kind of writer to transform information into a life-like setting. Anne Dillard also made you think although she didn’t talk about it, how the man who pursued the children might have grown up in the neighborhood as well. The conclusion did make me wonder, being that he kept up with them regardless of where they went and finding his way back to his car.
