I believe that STEP will provide a smooth transition from a small school with a large Hispanic demographic, to the much larger and socially diverse campus of UCSB. Not only will STEP aid me with a smooth transition, I envision that it will also provide me with the knowledge to become aware of the different opportunities, activities, and events I could take a part of at UCSB. I sincerely believe that this program is a truly remarkable opportunity to learn. As I am the eldest first generation child of immigrant parents who did not complete high school, I often have to rely on hearsay and third party college websites to learn more information about attending university and the preparation it takes to be admitted into graduate school or dive in
There are several things I hope to gain from my experience as a student at California Baptist University. Such things include, a community of God loving, supporting and encoring friends, a Christian based education and opportunities to grow into the person God created me to be.
As an immigrant, I understood the value of education when I arrived in the United States. My parents didn’t get a chance to get an education after immigrating to the United States because they had a family to take care of. Therefore, getting an education at the University of Michigan-Dearborn is very precious to my parents and I. An education here, will provide many opportunities, and ultimately, it will pave the way for me to support my family better.
Educational opportunity program at Cal Poly Pomona and all other twenty three California State University campuses address the access and equity for these minority group of students in higher education to provide support services for low income, first generation students from historically disadvantaged backgrounds. These educational institutions have been successful in increasing both the higher education attendance rates and educational attainment of students from low-income, first-generation college, and underrepresented ethnic minority backgrounds.
Supporting the success for diverse students on campus is just the beginning to make their experience as equal to that of the white community. Without positive campus attitude and without the recognition of what diversity brings to a school and a classroom, the system would not thrive and those of a different ethnic background will not be inclined to attend. The conclusion to Espinosa’s, Gaertner, and Orfields article is that college and university leaders
In the above transition rate diagram, each university or team represents a state, with each arrow representing the transition rate going from one state to the next. Since Georgia Tech scored 28 points against, and Miami scored just 17 points against Georgia Tech, the rate at which a person in the state “Georgia Tech” would go to “Miami” is higher than going from Miami to Georgia Tech. Likewise, if they were in the “Georgia Tech” they would be more likely to jump over to North Carolina than either Duke or Miami because Georgia Tech scored more points against North Carolina than against Duke or Miami. This means the rate at which someone leaves Georgia Tech to go to UNC will be higher than that of going to either Duke or Miami. They won’t
The Valencia Bridge to Success program would help me by giving me the opportunity to explore the many varieties to pursuing my goal of being a Sociologist. I know this program will keep me focused and in the right mind to earn the degree that is best for me. I truly believe enrolling in this Rustic Pathways program will equip me with leadership and community service skills I can take with me anywhere. I will invest in my community by sharing my experiences that I had in the Dominican Republic and bringing my new skills by putting them out into any community helping program, as well as my everyday life. It will give me a new outlook on the way I live and how others do around me, and allow me to truly appreciate what I have. This kind of experience is not one I would be able to forget, and I would use the skills my entire life. By working hard in the Dominican Republic, I will be more motivated to work hard in my own community not just to benefit myself, but others around me who are less fortunate.
As a high school student, I have found that I am interested in areas such as engineering and science. I am a creative person and I enjoy observing and learning new things, therefore these subject areas will allow me to use my creativity to explore new and interesting ideas. If I am chosen to join the BMCC STEP program, I will have the opportunity to improve my creative abilities and deepen my love for science. Being able to attend STEP classes in the summer will also help me to remain involved in science and learning during my time away from school. It will have a very important and beneficial impact on my education.

Children and young people pass through a number of different stages as they grow and develop naturally. Children will also be expected to cope with changes such as moving from primary school to secondary school, these changes are called transitions. Some children may have to face personal transitions, these could also include a family illness or if their parents are getting divorced. It is important to understand a child or young person in the changes they are experiencing in their life. It is also key to recognize the role of the child’s parents and carers in supporting their child at points of transition, Also to understand the need for advice and support.
Zeke has done a great job using his break cards. When he becomes frustrated or overwhelmed, he has started requesting a break rather than fleeing the situation. On occasion, he needs to be reminded to use his cards. Once he is reminded, he either hands a break card over or he verbally requests a break. Transitions are becoming smoother for Zeke. When transitioning, he enjoys being very quiet and trying to sneak up on the teacher. This game has worked very well so far. Zeke has also shown improvements for staying on task for longer periods of time.
I would like to attend STEPS because it will be a great opportunity to learn more about science, technology, and engineering. Secondly, it'll also help me to explore more of a career I might choose and help me to understand what some careers do. Thirdly, it will introduce me to college life. Lastly, it can help me to learn more about team collaboration.
But the formal pledge she submitted to the White House for the event included a hint at one plank. It would feature efforts to enhance transfer to UC not just from community colleges generally, but from those that “enroll large numbers of underrepresented and low-income students but send relatively few on to
The San Diego motivational conference was a great experience i was able to learn so much about different people and many opportunities that i could have in the future if i do decide to transfer. I attended two different workshops one of them was the study of broad and the second workshop was about how to succeed in college to transfer. My favorite workshop was the study of broad because my dream is to be able to travel around the world and help others and to learn different cultures.
