‘Of Mice and Men’ by John Steinbeck that was published in 1937 is a parable about two characters, George and Lennie, whose ambition is to own their own ranch. This story reveals the nature of loneliness, sacrifice, and dreams. In the end, Lennie is the greatest obstacle to achieving that dream after he kills Curley’s wife forcing George to make the hardest decision of his life. We must be willing to make sacrifices for the ones we love. By way of example, if we are not willing to make sacrifices, we cannot achieve our dreams. In order to achieve a dream, we must not only have the willingness to sacrifice, but also perseverance, courage, and a positive attitude.
