Everyone has a special talent they can offer to the world. For Omar, baseball has always been his first true love. Twenty-year-old Omar Salinas is a junior at UT Arlington and is studying Interdisciplinary Studies. His father, Andres Salinas, pushed Omar to follow his footsteps and his legacy. As a first generation student athlete, Omar aspires to be a high school coach to train athletes to have a strong mindset.

A man with ambition to be better, is a man that is unstoppable. Standing tall, with a book in one hand and his other hand is reaching out towards you. He wants you to come and join him in furthering your education, he wants you to not let the circumstances and odds that are against you; hold you back from gaining higher education. The statue of Dr. Councill on Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University, is a direct symbolization and representation of the extraordinary individual that he was. Dr. Councill knew that with education, he could hold power and change the lives of others, and that is exactly what he spent the rest of his life doing and is continuing to do so even decades after his death.

Marisol Ortega was born on April 1,1994 and grew up in a family of eight and is the youngest of six siblings. She grew up and raised in the city of Bell and comes from a traditional Mexican household. Marisol is on her third year at East Los Angeles College and she is studying psychology with an emphasis in social behavior. She recently got accepted to the University of California, Santa Cruz and was awarded the Osher scholarship. Her future goal is to obtain a degree in psychology and a master’s degree in criminology with a minor in ethnic studies. She hopes to obtain a career as a forensic psychologist and as a educator.

The ones who walk away from Omelas believe in equality and fairness among their city. They believe that it is not fair for the citizens to act like they are living a perfect life when they know there is someone that has been suffering, trapped in a room with no human contact for what seems like a countless number of years. When they decide to walk away from Omelas, it is not because they are acting cowardly or trying to avoid helping the young child. These people make this decision to help themselves. Those outcasts who walk away not knowing where they are going are humans that cannot accept the fact that they have been so happy while another person in their same city is miserable.

Often referred to as the Asian Unicorn, the Saola is a bovine that dwells in the dense forests of Eastern Indochina. They have only been seen in their natural habitat a handful of times and only a few photographs exist of them today, hence earning them nickname title. They have an antelope-like appearance, but are biologically more similar to cattle. Both males and females have two long, parallel horns that have been measured to reach up to nearly 20 inches. Their silky fur can be seen ranging in a variety of colors: the primary one being a dark chestnut color, while their markings and streaks are often black or a creamy white. The discovery of this creature only stems back two decades ago to May 1992, which has not left much time for observation.
