In this essay, I will compare two influential women, who carry the same title – the first lady – but in different countries. The comparison will be between Sara Netanyahu, the first lady of Israel, and the wife of the current Prime-Minister of Israel, and between Michelle Obama, the first lady of the United States, and the wife of the most powerful man in the world, the President of the United States.
First and foremost, the main difference, in my opinion, between the two is their popularity. Obama, unlike her husband by the way, is popular around the United States and her popularity is around 80% approval. For example, she is more popular today than Hillary Clinton was when she was the first lady of the United States, and today the same Clinton is not only nominated in the primary of the Democratic Party for the presidency, she even leads the primary with 59% support (according to the last polls). Obama is considered more official, and she make an example for every American (and especially for women). The way Obama speaks to the press, the fact that she always acts in a proper way and the fact that you will always find Obama smiling, calm and acting in extremely polite way, helps the American people look at her as an example of how you need to act, as the comparison of beauty to Aphrodite. Netanyahu is quite different from Obama in that matter; she is less formal, and barely speaks to the press and she seems distant from the common people. These actions only make her less connected to the people, a lot of whom look at her as greedy, thanks to a lot of scandals she was involved during the past few years. Even now there is a trial against her behavior to her employees, which harm her popularity among the people even
