I Twinkle Khanna student of BA (Hons) English,Semester 3rd doing my summer project on the with Sir W. Tempe, and published in1704.Satire is a genre of literature, and sometimes graphic and performing arts, in which vices, follies, abuses, and shortcomings are held up to ridicule, ideally with the intent of shaming individuals, corporations, government or society itself, into improvement. Swift added a short satire entitled “The Battle of Books” to the Table of a Tub.In,this piece,there is an epic battle fought in a library when various books come alive and attempt to settle the arguments between moderns and ancients.In Swift’s satire,he skilfully manages to avoid saying which way his victory fell.He portrays the manuscript as have been damaged in places,thus leaving the end of the battle upto the reader.
