1. Outline the mental illness. Include the following: * A brief description of the mental illness. * Who is most likely to be affected by the mental illness (e.g. the elderly, isolated, Aboriginal people, teens, etc). * Current rates/relevant statistics associated with people being diagnosed.
The topic i have chosen is Schizophrenia
Schizophrenia is a major mental illness where the human brain can create multiple personas which cause hallucinations, confused thinking, abnormal behaviour and negative symptoms.
Schizophrenia however, does not have a cause except for the fact that it may be hereditary (run in the family) or can be a chemical imbalance in the victim's brain the mental illness affects the normal functioning of the brain and changes the affected person in the way that they feel and think.
Schizophrenia does not occur by being a certain religion or gender it

Describe the signs and symptoms of the mental illness.
The Mental illness Schizophrenia involves a lot of signs and symptoms, mostly impacting the behaviour and emotions of the person.
A person suffering from the mental illness Schizophrenia is affected with negative emotions which gives them the low energy and not to function normally. For example, this gives the person unmaintained personal hygiene or appear to lack emotions;doesn't make eye contact, doesn't change facial expressions or speaks in a monotone.
This also may result in having lose interest in everyday activities for example:A teenager will have difficulties sleeping, concentration at school will drop, drop of motivation and staying depressed all the time.
Schizophrenia includes Extremely disorganized abnormal motor behaviour as a symptom. The symptom extremely disorganised abnormal motor behaviour is shown in various ways such as childlike behaviour to unpredictable disturbance. This behaviour can include not following instructions, inappropriate posture,no response and useless and unnecessary
Schizophrenia is a disorder that is characterized by a broken thought process and poor emotional responses. Typical symptoms of this disorder include delusions, paranoia, hallucinations, social dysfunctions,
Schizophrenia is a mental disorder often characterized by abnormal social behaviour and failure to recognize what is real. Common symptoms include false beliefs, unclear or confused thinking, auditory hallucinations, reduced social engagement and emotional expression, and inactivity. A person with schizophrenia often hears voices, experiences delusions and hallucinations and may believe thoughts, feelings and actions are controlled or shared by someone else.
Schizophrenia is a psychotic disorder that affects a person’s thinking, language, emotions, social behavior and perception (Herzog & Varcarolis, 2014). The diagnosis involves identifying a range of signs and symptoms that leads to impaired occupational or social functioning (American Psychiatry Association [APA], 2014).
Schizophrenia is a long-term psychological disorder characterized by a breakdown in the relation between thought, emotion, and behavior. The disease corrupts the biological functions in the brain pathways, thus causing phenotypic symptoms to occur. Diminished and or immobile facial expression, flat or inappropriate,
Additional, inferences about the disorder are provided by Whitcomb and Merrell (2013). The authors characterize the symptoms of schizophrenia as delusions that are “typically bizarre and implausible” and pronounced hallucinations such as hearing voices for long periods of time (p. 363). Additional, impairments noted by the authors include “severe disturbances in perception, thought and affect, a severe decline in personal and social functioning, poor personal hygiene, inability to function effectively at school or work, and a severe impairment in social relationships” (Whitcomb and Merrell, 2013 p.363).
Disorganized schizophrenia is defined as one of several subtypes of schizophrenia as chronic (long-term) mental illness. It is thought to be extreme expression of disorganized syndrome that has been hypothesized to be one feature of a 3-factor model of schizophrenia. The other factors are delusions/hallucination (reality distortion), and psychomotor poverty (poor speech, lack of spontaneous movement, and blunting emotion). People who suffer from this mental illness had to battle for years before getting any help. Also, people that have disorganized schizophrenia use and abuse drugs. There is about 1% of the population who suffer from this mental illness. In my paper I will speak about the treatment, symptoms, causes, of disorganized schizophrenia.
Schizophrenia is a chronic brain disorders that affect the way people think, act, their emotions, their daily activities, and their personal tranquility. There is no cure for schizophrenia, but it can be managed with proper treatment. People with schizophrenia may hear voices or they might feel that someone wants to hurt them, they might also have hallucinations. Schizophrenia affects the brain, which alters cognition and contributes to other major problems for instance, the person might have paranoia, delusions, and poor emotional responsiveness. Brain volume, gray matter and withe matter volume in the brain of a person with this disease is reduced compared to healthy people. Scientist believes that schizophrenia runs in families with schizophrenia
Schizophrenia is a chronic brain disorder that affects more than one percent of the population. When schizophrenia is active, symptoms can include delusions, hallucinations, trouble with thinking and concentration, and lack of motivation. However, when these symptoms are treated properly, a large portion of those diagnosed will greatly improve over time.
Schizophrenia is a complex disorder that affects the whole person including disturbances of thought, emotions, behaviors, and reality perception. There are many theories
There is no clear cut understanding what is the actual cause of schizophrenia however we know that it is a mixture of both genetics and
Schizophrenia has no actual definition, but it describes a series of events and actions that a person ususally experiences. Schizophrenia is a psychosis. ( Smith, 1992, p.23-25 ) Psychosis describes a disorder where a group of mental disturbances happen. Schizophrenia is described to be a psychosis because it causes the victim to lose the ability to be in touch with society and its functions. For example, a person may begin to "see" animals that are not there, or may begin to characterize themselves as a famous person from the past such as Queen Elizabeth or King Edward. ( Kvarnes, Parloff, 1983, p.220-223)
Schizophrenia is not yet fully understood, but it is known that it is characterized by extreme disturbances in many vital areas, including behavior, emotions, speech, perception and thinking. The term schizophrenia means
Schizophrenia is a complex disorder of the brain, which is incurable but treatable to live a close to a normal life. There are different types of schizophrenia and they each have different symptoms and affect a person's life in different ways.
Schizophrenia is a psychotic disorder that causes severe mental disturbances which disrupt ones thoughts, speech, and behavior. According to Paul Thompson, Associate Professor of Neurology, one percent of the world’s population suffers from this disorder. There is no one specific cause of schizophrenia, because it is caused by a combination of problems during development. It is a disorder which not only affects the patient, but their family and society as well. Schizophrenia can be a debilitating disorder, however, there are many treatments that can allow people who suffer from it to lead normal lives.
In some people's cases, Schizophrenia appears suddenly and without warning. But for most it comes slowly, with subtle warning signs and a gradual decline in functioning long before the first severe episode. “In the early phases of Schizophrenia people often seem eccentric, unmotivated, emotionless, and reclusive (Helpguide.org).” They may isolate themselves and not want to participate in daily activities such as playing with their children, going outside, or getting off the couch. They abandon their hobbies and they do not do well in their jobs. “The most common early warning signs of Schizophrenia include: social withdrawal, hostility or suspiciousness, deterioration of personal hygiene, having a flat and expressionless gaze, the inability to cry or express joy, inappropriate laughter or crying, depression, oversleeping or insomnia, odd or irrational statements, forgetfulness or the inability to concentrate, extreme reaction to criticism, and or strange use of words or way of speaking (Helpguide.org).” There are five types of symptoms of Schizophrenia. Positive is a symptom that involves having hallucinations or delusions. Negative is when one shows no emotion or flat behavior. Avolation is when a person shows little interest in whatever they are doing. Cognitive behavior is when you have disorganized speech or memory loss. Catatonic behavior is considered poor functioning such as your voluntary muscles
