In “Schopenhauer as Educator”, Nietzsche explains how most people in society are more concerned with keeping up appearances and conforming to public opinion than truly being themselves. He addresses the issues resulting from this way of life by stating that true educators, such as Schopenhauer, can liberate us and help us find ourselves. In Part I of his essay, Nietzsche introduces the idea that humans hide their true selves due to fear from public pressures and laziness when it comes to fighting against expectations of conformity. He goes on to say that every man “beautiful, and worth regarding, as a work of nature, and never boring,” and should live as such (Nietzsche 1). Due to the fact that humans are living as shells of who they really are, Nietzsche asserts that his time is a time that will be forgotten. More importantly, however, as humans we …show more content…
He starts off explaining the kind of educator he was looking for- one that could develop a student’s strong point while also developing a periphery of other qualities. He thought on the lack of educators in Germany at the time and concluded that society was apathetic and focused on scientific discovery while disregarding the importance of humanity and educating mankind. When he finally found Schopenhauer, he admired his honesty, cheerfulness, and steadfastness. Nietzsche had faith in Schopenhauer and believed everything he said. There was never any kind of paradox in his writing and he wrote the truth because he wrote for himself; he was not trying to imitate anybody else. He was cheerful because even when talking seriously, he had victory over the issues he discussed and was able to ease the concerns of his readers with solutions. Finally, his steadfastness refers to how he never wavered from what he said. These three qualities made Schopenhauer Nietzsche’s ideal

As to the teaching at Grace, we see it's current condition as the result of men filling a role that they are neither gifted for nor received a call by God's people to fill; coupled with the neglecting of seeking out a pastor but rather choosing to be a self-shepherding flock, and so deprive ourselves off the blessing of obedience to God in that area and working of His Spirit amongst us through a pastor. It is this seeming deliberate absence of a pastor that prompts us to visit other assemblies of God's people.
Although society has adapted to the extensive amount of advertisements, it's critical to stop and contemplate the messages that are presented. The internet is filled with ads promoting beauty and cosmetic products, which often claim to make women feel better about themselves. In truth, the corporation advertising the cosmetic product causes the purchaser to feel inadequate, so consumers think they must use said product to enhance their pulchritude. The audience for the magazine advert comprises those who crave to look more attractive from having better-styled eyelashes, and as "Maybelline" is a supermarket brand, it appeals to an average income household.

In the year of 1938, during the Nuremburg Conference, a man stands up to deliver the closing speech. This speech is not particularly as well known or as significant as many of his other speeches, but the words of this thin and paunchy man are strong and resolute. He states, “When the question is still put to us why National Socialism fights with such fanaticism against the Jewish element in Germany, why it pressed and still presses for its removal then the answer can only be: Because National Socialism desires to establish a true community of the people…. Because we are National Socialists, we can never suffer an alien race which has nothing to do with us to claim the leadership of our working people
Elie Wiesel, a survivor of the Holocaust, won a Nobel Peace Prize on December 10, 1986, and gave an amazing speech. In his speech, Wiesel talks about human rights and how they need to be protected. One of his main points was that no one should be neutral or silent in the face of an oppressor or a tormentor. This quote from his speech basically sums it up: “Neutrality helps the oppressor never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” Wiesel builds up to this quote by his use of rhetorical devices, the way he structured his text, and his choice of words.
Kelsie Mustin English 10 Professor Richerson 23 February 2018 To This Day Rhetorical Analysis Bullying is something that has always been around. Back in the day bullying was just kind of brushed off and covered with “kids just being kids.” Overtime bullying has become more aggressive and more serious.
Friedrich Nietzsche’s On Truth and Lies in a Nonmoral Sense represents a deconstruction of the modern epistemological project. Instead of seeking for truth, he suggests that the ultimate truth is that we have to live without such truth, and without a sense of longing for that truth. This revolutionary work of his is divided into two main sections. The first part deals with the question on what is truth? Here he discusses the implication of language to our acquisition of knowledge. The second part deals with the dual nature of man, i.e. the rational and the intuitive. He establishes that neither rational nor intuitive man is ever successful in their pursuit of knowledge due
Rhetoric, the ability of effective or persuasive speaking or writing, particularly the use of speech and other skills. The use Rhetoric began when a group of teachers called the Sophists, during ancient Greek times, would travel from city to city teaching young men in public spaces how to speak and debate. The young, mostly wealthy boys, were taught how to make a weak argument stronger and a strong argument weak. The negative association that we have with the word “sophist” today began in ancient Greece. During ancient Greeks times, a “sophist” was a man who manipulated the truth for financial gain. And this is how is perceived still today, as argument being presented just to be uttering nothing meaningful
How I have missed you dearly. My life has been so changed by the loss of your presence. There is not a day that goes by where I do not miss your beautiful laugh. The pain of separation has been so severe, abstinence from writing you was necessary to quell the pain. But of course I focus on my own suffering, failing to realize the damage my absence has has done to you. My poor… child. I am so deeply sorry for what I have done to you. I only hope Anne was good to you these past 8 years, I am so disheartened to hear of her passing; she was such a wonderful mother to me. I can only imagine how old and pretty you must look. Surely your father has dressed you only in the prettiest of dresses; I have no doubt he has been kind to you, as he was to me. I am doubly sure you have become excellent in
In the amazing and beautiful country of America, in this age of rights and essential scientific study, students all across the 50 states of freedom are facing a terrible injustice as they are forced to attend school at the ungodly hour of 8 A.M. each morning. This has been proven to be terrible by many scientific studies. These studies have discovered that sleep is very important in the productivity of the brain, so starting school this early is only hurting the many students that stay up late doing homework and attending other school and sports related events. As a result, schools around the world, like Oxford University did an experiment, in which they started classes at 10 A.M., to see if grades would improve. However, despite the groundbreaking results that studies like this have made, the United States of America has not come to terms with this almost 10-year-old discovery. The education system needs to put a stop to the cruel and unusual punishment of waking up so early, getting bad grades, being so sleep deprived that the student cannot improve their grade much, if at all, and then destroying the future of many young Americans. This is
In, “The American Scholar,” Ralph Waldo Emerson talk about his displeasure about how societal curriculum replicated person after another, in order to clarify that there are more efficient way to become a successful scholar. In this essay, Emerson has made distinctions between the 'old world thinking' of Europe and America. Emerson also thinks the American way should be new and different from old word thinking. Along with this main point, Emerson believes an American Scholar should be "Man Thinking,” which means being more independent, and students should get knowledge by their first hand experience through things such as nature, action, and books. In the speech at Harvard University, Emerson’s audience were a group of students from Harvard
Friedrich Nietzsche was born in Friedrich, Germany in 1844, later died in 1900. Nietzsche literature and history philosophy was considered to be worst sophist. All moral philosophers have been soporific, misleading. In other words, do not believe in just anything a “God” tell you because there is no God. Nietzsche was a moral theorist as new moral theorist many try to adopt moral theory and add science aspects. But not consider idea of conscience in same way as former moral theorist have in the past. Being a moral theorist in regards to actually raises doubt that there is such thing as morality. There are two known moralities, Master and Slave morality. These moralities came based on what Nietzsche said, “to be a human is to be a beast, and tube a superior beast, a person must be able to attack, control, happiness, exploit the weak. All societies have a class and within the class, known as ruling caste. The ruling caste originated from barbarian caste in state of nature. Where violence and power is wanted greatly. The hire you are in the caste you are considered to have more power, or in Nietzsche case you have more knowledge. Having more knowledge is the only way a person can reach true happiness. Nietzsche created these steps to Astuteness moral castration. The steps consist of making virtue the goal, set up standards for the virtue, opponents are ungodly, suffering
Friedrich Nietzsche was a 19th-century German philosopher and held in regard amongst the greatest philosophers of the early part century. He sharpened his philosophical skills through reading the works of the earlier philosophers of the 18th century such as Immanuel Kant, John Stuart Mill, Arthur Schopenhauer and African Spir; however, their works and beliefs were opposite to his own. His primary mentor was Author Schopenhauer, whose belief was that reality was built on the foundation of experience. Such as it is, one of his essays, Schopenhauer als Erzieher, published in 1874, was dedicated to Schopenhauer (Mencken, 2008). In the past two centuries, his work has had authority and influence in both
Of the three essays, this is probably the one most true to Nietzsche's style of presenting arguments in a non-conforming format. The important part for me of this essay is in Nietzsche's ability to see both sides of the problem. While critiquing mainly the asceticism of religion, he also presents the opposite extreme of the problems with science. While Nietzsche does not necessarily reject the ideals of ascetics, he does highlight the thought that morality and culture are artifacts of mankind. Hence, even the metaphysical conceptions of “right,” “wrong,” and “soul” are at their core human-made conceptions that must be questioned; not
