Book One of the Scion Saga, Opaque is Calix Leigh- Reign’s debut novel. A Young Adult story that beautifully intertwines Sci-Fi with mystery and a little young love.
Adam, a sixteen years old boy, struggles through his teenage years fighting an inner darkness. In the beginning, we are led to believe Adam is a sociopath. With no real friends, and dark, inappropriate thoughts towards others, he puts on a façade just to get through the day. When he meets Carly though, he notices things beginning to change, and not just inside himself, but in his surroundings as well.
Being as she is a new student, every student is drawn to her, wanting to be her friend. But, when she meets Adam, she is immediately drawn to him, and only cares to get to know him. Seeing who he really is, Carly has to step carefully, to choose whether to help him or

The only thing I can mention is that the story could have done with one more run through for errors. The errors I found were easily spotted. They were not many, but it was enough to be worth mentioning. On to the positives! From the plot line to the writing style, to the character development, it was well put together. Quite a few times, I even found myself looking up certain words as I had never seen or heard them before. I, for one, will not complain about learning some new complex words. The pacing was also steady, once I started reading the book, I found it difficult to put down, especially towards the end, when everything came to a head. Lastly, the character development was wonderful.
As I stated before, Adam’s character saw the most growth, from a dark, twisted minded young boy; he became a strong, powerful, young man willing to go to the ends of the earth for the young women he loved and for his mother that braved it all with him. As for the other characters, they were also well rounded, and while we didn’t see as much character growth with them, it was still
In my opinion I thought that this book was a very good book. In this chapter I will describe the setting, theme, plot and conflict etc. This book had a few different settings like
After breaking Scott heart in Middle school , Hailey stopped hanging around with him and Stiles an gain new friends. On the start of her Junior year a man who know her bites her the night before school starts ;Hailey freaks out about it and tries to forget it, but when the night of the full moon approaches
This book was a pretty great book. It laid out the plot really well and the message was clear. It showed the characters pain and other emotions really
At the beginning of the book, Adam was a shy, diffident, and insecure type of boy. As the book progressed, and how much the conflict progressed, we see that he molds into a more confident, and positive young man.
For the most part, the novel was very enjoyable. One aspect of it that I loved was that the storyline was extremely intense, which always compelled me to find out what would happen next. For example,
As the overall book, I actually kind of liked it because it was kind of hard to understand because they couldn’t use “I” and I like challenges. They had to use “We” instead of using “I” to explain they self or the story. The book was okay as a whole but still kind of hard to understand I got kind of irritated after a while, while I was reading the book because of the way it was written.
I really liked the book. It was very enjoyable to read. I would recommend it to my friends, because I think they
I liked this book because of all the twists and turns, and plot holes. Somethings I think it could of done better on are including
All in all the book was a great novel with great character development, but the bias, exaggeration, and predictable
The writing of the characters also improved in this novel, every character being developed enough that you really care about them, whether you loved or hated them. Scarlet was fun and fiery and while you didn’t always agree with her choices, you understand how
story, but I really thought it could have been better. Little things like a character’s misspelled name or
Some readers did not like the book, feeling that they had no connection with the main character and felt that they took way too long to figure things out and just go over and over the same clues, getting nowhere with them. Some thought there was a good idea, but that the author does not do a great job of executing it. Some readers seemed to be missing something, almost as though part of the novel was missing, and you were just supposed to know who everyone
Natalie’s lifestyle to Keith is so predictable that he sees right through her that she has more desires then what the eyes want to see; therefore, with Keith its genuine and different but with Raff in the picture it’s a more of physical-oriented bond. Natalie is hopelessly intrigued with Keith’s “do it his own way” style because he introduces her to another dimension of experience and not to just live it but taste it by trying new and wild things. “What’s the rush?” We are here in a yellow truck, a road ahead of us nothing but opportunities” as compelling as this sounds Keith leads Natalie into a world of fantasies and makes her see beyond the conventional ways of living that even so, Natalie is ready to go to the ends of the world to feel that experience her heart desires. She breaks rules, blows off her friend and boyfriend just to spend time with Keith and his mischievous ways. Even if it means waking up at 5 a.m. to put bowling balls in front of the chemistry teacher’s porch and leaving two balls behind in a diner to play a prank on a waitress.
The weaknesses of the story are just too long. It was too broad, and it will make you boring on some pages. It makes you upset because there’s a twist and some words that they used is hard to understand. Even though there are weaknesses of the story, it will make you be a critical thinker. For the example, on how’s her parents could be find. It is exciting because your expected will not be the same as you expect at the last part of the story. Although it is a true story, there is a doubt that can possibly form in your mind because for me, some details are not possible. But all in all, it is beautiful to have read.
I found many strengths and very few weaknesses in this book. It was written very well and is incredibly catching. The writer drags you into the book with his vocabulary and uses his many writing skills to walk your senses right through the book. Although his writing was fantastic, sometimes is seems a bit drawn out. Although this book was written such a long time ago, many of the lessons apply today! Its technology is something of the future and the plot is still being used today for TV shows, books, and movies. My favorite part of this book, was when Chonchis tells Urfe of his war experience and the writer explains how they stayed in a foxhole for hours while trying to survive. I like it the best because of the great detail the writer goes into in this part and I also have a fascination with war stories, so this was perfect for me. I
