We have not covered this era in history so pretty much everything was new information to me, and I was able to learn many things from reading it. Howard took part in the Gulf War and the Somali Civil War. He was a part of Operation Desert Storm which was the first huge battle of the Gulf War. Howard’s last battle was the Battle of Mogadishu which he was badly hurt in. He was shot three times and almost lost a leg. This really makes me think and question just how many people normally get hurt and killed in battles and it made me realize just how easy it is for a man in combat to go from having a good day to being on their …show more content…
It goes through years of hard work for a single man to be able to take part in one influential battle, the Gulf War. Also it gives a deeper insight to the behind the scenes action taking place before and after the war. We joined the war in hopes of protecting the oil resources within the lands of Kuwait and Iraq, which Iraq attempted and succeeded in invading the Kuwait lands. However, in the end we ended with profit in protecting Kuwait's oil rich area, in which we are allied with in sharing and producing oil resources.Through reading this novel I got the chance to research and learn information that I had not previously know because we have not reached that era in history. The only chapter in out book that would pertain to this time would be chapter thirty six which is the last chapter in the book. Seal Team Six is a very recently made has made a huge impact on what I have known historically, and through my research and reading I have found out so much more than I previously thought I

Not all Seal teams are made for everyone, in fact 80% of the men who attempt to become one, fail or will drop out. To become a Seal you must have dedication, hardwork, and a lot of commitment.

Being in war is definitely one of the most life changing events a person will ever have whether it be for the better or for the worst. Soldiers will witness events that are impossible to forget or see back at home in the states. As a result of seeing something so intense like that, most soldiers are usually traumatized. In matter of fact, a great amount of soldiers are traumatized from the very beginning of being in war. It’s without a doubt difficult to deal with this but there are some ways where

“One of the good things about the way the Gulf War ended in 1991 is, you 'd see the Vietnam veterans marching with the Gulf War veterans” (George H. W. Bush). President Bush stated that the Persian Gulf War was not fully supported by the soldiers who fought in the war. Gulf War veterans marched like Vietnam veterans because they also viewed the war as unjustified. Persian Gulf War veterans would say, “American soldiers lost their lives’ for oil.” The first Persian Gulf War started from August 2, 1990 and ended on February 28, 1991. This war began by the invasion of Kuwait by Iraq. During this invasion some of the oil fields of Kuwait were set on fire and some of the oil spilled to the Persian Gulf. The Persian Gulf was the oil supplier for western countries. So anything happened to the Persian Gulf, the western countries will naturally react. The factors that led to The United States’ involvement in the first Persian Gulf War included Saddam Hussein’s invasion of Kuwait, his control over a sizable share of the world’s oil reserves and his power over the economies of the world. Many Americans believe that the first Persian Gulf War was not necessary for the United States.
