Could you or can you help stop our baseball players being injured, but not change the way the game plays?
This is happening all over the Major League Baseball association. Researchers have been trying to find way to keep our players safe without ruining the concept of the game. They need to research this topic likes it global warming almost 14% of athletes are in the hospital due to baseball injuries. Nearly 110,00 kids are in an emergency room due to a baseball related injury. ( www.livestrong.com) , If you go into play and then all the sudden you are in the hospital with a serious injury not knowing if you'll ever play again. To me, personally I couldn’t think about that I've been playing baseball since I was 2 years old, I couldn't just leave the sport because of an injury. And even if I had to quit I would try and recover. And to some people like me baseball is our life you can just quit. Quitting is a sign of weakness and when you are forced to quit you can't help but

On April 30th I had a baseball game and while we were warming up the ball took a bad hop and hit me in the face and in the nose. My nose was pouring blood, I had broken my nose in my baseball game. I thought I was going to be out for the rest of the season that’s how bad my nose was bleeding.
It wasn’t anyone's fault it was pearly an accident, but there is sometimes that players target other players causing intentional injuries. For Instance, major league games where two rivals play it's called a rivalry game. Both teams don't like each other so they target. Targeting is where the pitcher throws the baseball at the player when they step in the box to
One summer’s day in 2014, I borrowed my neighbor’s lawn mower and met my teammates at the batting cage. I began mowing down the weeds, while they raked. Others restretched the netting back across the top of the cage. By the time the afternoon came we had a batting cage and a real sense of pride. From that day forward, we began practicing every day, year round. We talked baseball, walked baseball, lived and breathed the stuff. We shared our equipment and made do with what we had. We turned ourselves from a rag-tag bunch of misfits into a
Thus is the nature of baseball, a fickle game wrought with tradition, the foremost of which is the iron clad law mandating that the game is cruel and will take away as freely as it gives. My father always told me, “Baseball is a game of errors - the best hitters fail seven out of ten times - the key to success is knowing how to deal with the failure.” It is this aspect of the game, its want to frustrate and demoralize the player, that I think has driven most of my
In total I had joined 6 baseball teams in my whole life (17 years). I don’t want this problem to ever happen again so I’m not planning on joining anymore teams for now, but I may join one during college. I still like baseball even after all these years. Baseball has always been a part of my life. It’s been something I’ve played, it's been something my grandfather has enjoyed, my aunt, and pretty much my whole family. But at the end of the day I think that it was one of the best decisions that I had ever made just because I have more time to do stuff and time to spend with my family members and friends from
I’ve taken part in baseball since I was 3 years old, it is by far my favorite sport. It truly holds something very special to me, because I look forward to it each year. When the season ends I enjoy it for about 2 weeks off, but then realize I’m not going to have another team practice til next year. My 9th grade year of sports took a turn of events when I tore my meniscus during football season. I had surgery March 8th of 2017. I couldn’t play that season and I was pretty depressed seeing all my buddies play. I remember hobbling over to meet Coach Boom and introducing myself saying I could help out doing stats for him. I tried to keep myself involved but it was hard not playing and just sitting on bench watching my family
Many people don't understand the point in playing baseball. Why would someone swing a stick, hit a ball, and try to get back to where they started before the ball returns? What pleasure is there in that? Why not participate in a sport like wrestling or track where there is an obvious level of individual improvement and therefore pleasure. Well, I play baseball because of the love I have for the sport, and because of the feeling that overwhelms me every time I walk onto a baseball field. When I walk onto a field I am given the desire to better myself not only as an athlete, but also as a person. The thoughts and feelings I get drive me to work hard towards my goals and to be a better person. The most relevant
Preview: I am going to persuade you all to not allow steroids in Major League Baseball by explaining the problem of what steroids brings to Major League Baseball, then discuss a couple of major causes, then provide a couple logical solutions.
Baseball is known as America’s pastime and is one of the most popular, respected sports on earth. Since the beginning of the sport, it seemingly advances with technology every year making faster and stronger players. The use of steroids became rampant and spread among players and has carried them away from the true history of the game they play. Controversy still today runs around the sport today about fines, punishments and record breaking. The past two decades of Major League Baseball have been tainted because of the use of performance enhancing drugs, also known as steroids, causing the loss of many fans and the true meaning of America’s favorite sport.
Not only are professional baseball players an inspiration; they are also leaders. They have risked life and limb on the field; they inspire us to be better and strive for excellence. For many fans these athletes are
"'I Guess I Forgot to Duck' On-Field Player Fatalities in the Minor Leagues." NINE: A Journal of Baseball History and Culture 11.2 (2003): 85-96. NINE. Web. 2 Dec. 2015. This journal took on a rarely discussed topic, death in baseball. It is widely known that baseball is a dangerous sport. Although it doesn't entail quite as much player-to-player contact as sports like soccer and football do, it entails just as much physical danger, just in a different manner. Gorman begins the journal by examining early baseball fatalities, and the reason fatality rates were so incredibly high. In fact, Gorman explains that, "Baseball-related deaths were so common among the general population, in fact, that a Chicago-based statistician used to report annually on fatalities and injuries nationwide." It is nearly impossible to comprehend the fact that baseball fatalities were so common, the author enforces this incredibly morbid factoid by laying out different injuries and incidents that led to players' deaths. Fortunately, the journal takes on a lighter note as it draws to a close. Gorman explains that before the widespread use of protective headgear, men thought it to be "womanish", and that using nay sort of safety device would "hurt their manly pride". Clearly, baseball has become a far safer sport than it started out as. Its beginnings were incredibly dangerous and risky, and although the risk is not completely eliminated, it is pretty safe to say a death statistician is no
The appeals court based it’s the case Nabozny v. Barnhill (1975), 31 Ill.App.3d 212, 334 N.E.2d 258 that a player is liable for injury in a tort action if his conduct is such that it is either deliberate,
Injuries can often have a positive outcome for a team. When a key player on the field is injured, the team's morale is instantaneously cut in half, but after he walks off the field, the team decides to play for him, so that his injury might not be in vain. The team really unites, and being an athlete, there is no better feeling than unification in the name of a fallen comrade. I was playing soccer for Abita Springs Recreational facility when something similar happened to me. In soccer, a player getting a red card is exactly the same as a player being injured because there is a suspension for the next few games. I had received a red card for some bogus call, and my entire team ran to the ref to argue my case for me. I had never seen that team so united in my life. At halftime, the entire team ran to me and apologized as if it were their fault. To this day, I still love that team with all my heart.
Every year, it becomes more obvious that many sports in America have problems. For years, Hockey has been criticized for its excessive violence. The National Football League has also been scrutinized for this reason as well as the fact that many of the top players have constantly been in trouble with the law. Major League Baseball is no different. The situation with baseball is more complicated, and is not only ruining the game itself, but also drawing millions of fans away from the sport. The biggest problem is with the high salaries paid to athletes. These salaries are taking the competitiveness out of several sports, especially baseball, where there is no salary cap. Action must be taken
Baseball like all other sporting events is entertainment. No professional sports organization could succeed without the
