SEC Football: Previewing the four SEC December bowl games This year, nine SEC teams will be playing in a postseason bowl game. Four of those teams will play in the month of December. The SEC is tied with the Pac-12 for the second most teams playing in a bowl game from a Power Five conference. The ACC has the most with 10 teams playing a postseason bowl. The Big 12 and Big Ten each have 8 teams that will play in bowl games. Here are the SEC teams that will play in bowl games in December. Texas Bowl The Missouri Tigers (7-5, 4-4 SEC) will play the Texas Longhorns (6-6, 5-4 Big 12) in the Texas Bowl in Houston on Dec. 27. This is the first bowl game appearance for Missouri’s Barry Odom as a head coach. This is also the first time …show more content…
Special teams coordinator and tight ends coach Jeff Banks will serve as the interim coach for the bowl game. With Banks coaching in the bowl game, Fisher has had plenty of time to hit the recruiting trail, and he has already landed his first commit from Jace Sternberger. Fisher has wasted no time with trying to get his own team established with the Aggies. The current players will have to prove that they have earned their playing time when the the new coach gets settled in next season, and they will have to compete with the players he recruits himself this year. Playing well in Belk Bowl could help the current players show Fisher that they are up for the challenge of earning their right to play for the new staff. However, the Demon Deacons are favored to win, and like Missouri in the Texas Bowl, the Aggies could face an away game atmosphere in their bowl game. Charlotte is only a little over an hour away from the Wake Forest campus. Music City Bowl The Kentucky Wildcats (7-5, 4-4 SEC) are set to play the Northwestern Wildcats (9-3, 7-2 Big Ten) in the Music City Bowl in Nashville, Tenn. on Dec. 29. Northwestern is coming off of a seven-game winning streak, which includes three straight overtime wins from earlier in the season. The Northwestern Wildcats are looking to keep their winning streak alive in order to achieve a 10-win season. Northwestern is also favored to win the Music City Bowl. However, Kentucky is
“I got bored,” head coach Dana Holgorsen joked. “I looked over to the sidelines and I said, ‘He’s made a whole bunch of plays, he’s made a whole bunch of plays, he’s made a whole bunch of plays and he’s made a whole bunch of plays, they never played together, so I said to Jake (offensive coordinator Jake Spavital), ‘Get those guys out there.’”
Regardless of rankings, each of the 64 teams are starting with zero losses. After all is said and done, the Michigan State Spartans looked like the best team in the country by seasons end. However, the truth about the best team will not be known until the final game concludes on April
The turmoil at Florida after Urban Myer left, the chaos that has been Tennessee, which has only recently been calmed by the inception of Butch Jones or the consistent underperformance of Mark Richt coached Georgia teams. However, although coaching is a factor, perhaps the true reason lies with recruiting. It stands to reason that the better players on the field will win. Yes, we all know of the team that overperforms. They play above their ability. In most cases though, when lined up across from each other on the line of scrimmage, the best player will win. This year, Tennessee, Georgia and Florida are all boasting top 10 recruiting classes, although Tennessee might be just outside. However, they have had two top 10 classes in recent years. Better players, an upgrade in coaches and a desire to regain dominance or at least relevance in their own conference is why this might be the SEC east’s
So many Coaches have talent and dedication for what they do. I 'm proud to play for one that has a spectacular history of coaching. That coach is Dennis Lorio, who Graduated from LSU (Louisiana State University) with an economic degree and played baseball. “I love the intensity and the relationship in football” Coach Lorio explaining with a passionate expression. I can see it in his eyes that he is very dedicated and hardworking coach. As of now he is 62 years old and still willing to coach. “It’s not the same without coaching. The joy and the sorrow I feel during the season has been addicted to me. I’ve been in this game almost all my life and that is a very long time.”
After one of the worse season's in recent memory, the Michigan Wolverines needed a big change. That big change turned out to be the hiring of Head Coach Jim Harbaugh, former NFL coach of the San Francisco 49ers and former All-American QB at Michigan. For years, fans and boosters have been screaming for a coach who personifies Wolverines football. Now they have their man. His first task will be trying to revive an offense that went to sleep in 2014, scoring a meager 20.9 PPG on a total of 333 YPG.
The Cyclones (23-10) are heading into the NCAA Tournament as one of the nation's hottest teams, winning nine of their last 10 games.
In the past few years The Gators haven’t been doing so well, but this year they plan to turn things around. “ The fifth-ranked, No. 8 overall seed Gators (25-3) have not only won 20 straight matches heading into tonight's first-round contest with Alabama State (20-18) at 7 in the O'Connell Center, but are coming off a five-set win over the-No. 3 Texas in Austin last Saturday” says the article (“Florida volleyball rolling into NCAA play.”) Not only are they starting to turn things around, but they also are 8-2 just playing teams in the SEC! Hopefully The Gators can keep up this winning streak and maybe their spirit will rub off on The Gator football
The staff combines to have an impressive thirty- two years of experience in the NFL. (Kenyon 1). Many coaches have also worked with head coach Harbaugh in his past coaching gigs, which includes his own son. Michigan has a plethora of notable names to their coaches’ roster. Names like Jedd Fisch, Tyrone Wheatley, Jay Harbaugh, Michael Zordich, Brian Smith and new coach Don Brown to name a few. Brown coached the number one defense in the nation last year at Boston College. He along with the other remarkable coaches has put together a defense that is unmatched anywhere in the nation.
Ole Miss upset #2 seed South Carolina on day two, and took the game over #10 seed Georgia on day one in an elimination game. The Rebels are set to face #6 seed Vanderbilt now on day three, and look to advance to day four undefeated. The Rebels will have a tough road ahead of them, as Vanderbilt is playing good baseball and fighting to lock up a regional in Nashville. So here is how the Rebels can do it.
During the last few years, the AFC South has solidified itself as one of the weakest divisions in the NFL. In the past two seasons alone, a 9-7 record has proven good enough to clinch the AFC South title, and the division hasn’t seen a Wild Card qualifier since the Indianapolis Colts in 2012. Despite a usually competitive division race, the chase for AFC South supremacy hasn’t necessarily translated into interesting football.
Next big game was against Copiah-Lincoln Community College the Lions come in thinking it's going to be another easy game but this year it was unexpected. Clcc. was better than they thought Clcc. put up the first touchdown Emcc was struggling on defence the offence was good with John Franklin III and Dj Law they were in good shape to win the game 2nd half the lions were down 21 - 14. Football is back in Aggie Land! Well for the Spring at least; as the North Carolina Agriculture & Technical State University football team held their annual Blue vs Gold Spring Game on last Sunday afternoon. There were some big plays, some stand out players and a hard hitting action last Sunday, so let’s hop in.
Week 3 of the college football season is in the books, and the history book was nearly rewritten Saturday when Ohio State narrowly escaped Northern Illinois with a 20-13 victory in Columbus, Ohio. The Buckeyes’ back-to-back title hopes are still alive, while other teams around the country saw their championship dreams dashed. Below is a recap of the most significant storylines from week 3 of the 2015 college football season.
Defense: The Trojans didn’t have their strongest performance against Western Michigan defensively. USC was gashed on the ground for 263 yards. USC however was without Cam Smith for the first half due to a targeting penalty during last season’s Rose Bowl Game, but outside of that the Trojans missed a lot of tackles and the middle of the defensive line was pushed around most of the game. USC had a lot of alignment issues which led to the Trojans not lining up fast enough and getting pushed around, they’ll have their hands full against a Stanford team who loves to bully teams on the line of scrimmage. USC will have to push back and limit the Cardinal on the ground. The secondary had will also be key for the Trojans. Jack Jones and Iman Marshall had pretty solid games last week; however both were also hit with penalties that continued drives. The sooner the Trojans can get the Cardinal offense off the
Sports have always served as a distraction from the rest of the world, and hopefully, the Badgers will gain some votes of their own as the season winds down. With wins over Nebraska and Northwestern in the past two weeks, Wisconsin sits at No. 7 in the college football rankings. With a few weeks left in the regular season, and then conference championship games, there is still plenty of time for the Badgers to make their move. If they win out and win the conference championship game, it will be hard to keep them out, even with two losses. Here are the teams to root for and against if you want to see Wisconsin in the Playoff.
