I was born in a place call Chicago where everybody is moving all the time. Chicago can offer you a lot of opportunities, but unfortunately death is one of those opportunities. With guns, drugs, and gangs surrounding the city I experience the most intense situation of my life. It was a life changer that woke me up, and force me to realize that anything can happen to anyone at any time and no one is untouchable. It's a memory that will forever be a part of me no matter how hard I try to forget it. It was 2008 I was thirteen years old, I lived on the East side of Chicago on eighty fourth in Kingston. It was a nice neighborhood with clean street, nice built homes, quite in the morning, and trees that's full of life. With that being …show more content…
This guy look like he just got out of jail he was huge. He told this other black guy that was wearing a clean white T-shirt, blue shorts, and blue shoes to give up the money he lost. The guy in the white shirt said “I don't have it and I don't have to give you shit”. The guy in the tank-top just walked off I watch him as he stop, and got on the phone I knew something was about to happen, so I went back to the block party. I got together with some friends to play basketball before the block party was over, it was getting dark, and so we decided to play one more game. Five seconds into the game we see people running to the back of the block party. I wanted to see what all the commotion was about, so I ran to the back too. When I got back there I see the guy with the tank-top fighting the guy in the white T-shirt. The guy in the tank-top pulls out a gun and starting shooting the other guy. In my head everything was in slow motion I can see people moving but I was paralyze. I can see the body on the ground I knew he was dead, and all kind of thoughts was just running in my head. My brother pick me up, as he was taking me back to the house I just couldn't understand what just happen. I see a lot of crazy things in my life, but seeing someone get killed with my own eyes really did a lot to me. It made me appreciate life more not just the big, but also the small. I know I'm go all ways remember that
Over the past 30 years there have been a lot of events that have had an impact on the development of crisis intervention. One that really sticks out is the Columbine High School massacre. This event occurred on April 20, 1999 in Littleton Colorado. “On this very sad
grew up in Chicago, Illinois, a beautiful city surrounded by violence and controversy by the media. I found things more simple when I was kid growing up here, there wasn't much to worry about but as I got older things became more complex here. The sounds of the " L "' or as you know it as, The Train, and the roaring sounds of cars passing by my house made me feel alive while growing up and as a matter of fact still does. You could wake up in the morning and see the vibrant blue skies being pierced by the skyscrapers and see other kids playing ball or riding their bikes. When it was summer time I would play ins sprinklers or go downtown and play in the fountains with my family. Of course, like most big cities I had to watch my back while growing up because you never knew what somebody was up to. It's weird really growing up here because you never know what's going to happen next , wether it's a good thing or a bad thing. All I can really say about growing up in Chicago is that if I had the chance to redo it, I'd do if a million times.

This might sound weird but the shadow turned out to be a human that looked just like a kid that I used to go to college with. Then the person mumbled “Remember me?” At that very second I knew who it was, Reggie. Then he stated “I'm going to burn those gloves off, and ruin your life like you ruined mine!” I shot another net at him but he was just too quick. So I got up and ran then I looked back and he wasn't there so I looked forward and there he was. He was about twenty five feet or so in front of me. The hoop was right above him and that's when I had thought of a plan. I decided to carry out with my plan and so I shot a net to the left of me. I had a split second while he looked and shot the net so I grabbed a ball and shot it without him realizing. I kept eye contact with him until The went through the hoop and hit his gun out of his hands. It was then when I shot a net at him that it actually got Reggie and he was trapped. After that I walked to the press conference and waited for the questions to pile in. One guy said “How did you do it”. All I said was “The Gloves.” then
Serial Killers are among the most frightening group of criminal in today's society. Unrecognized as everyday human beings, serial killers scared and horrify the whole world. They are classified as murderer with more than three victims, one at a time in a relatively short break serial killer apparently takes action without reason. Among all of the terrifying killers one of the popular killer in the history of the US was Ted Kaczynski , who committed three murders and dozens injured.
A main factor that differentiates serial murderers from other homicidal offenders is their reasons to commit such horrendous crimes. Usually, homicidal killers kill because of complex conflicts between families, mobsters, couples, and friends or because money problems. "A psychokiller, I should make clear, is not a regular murderer. A murderer has a vendetta, a nice specific personal thing against his victim" (Serial Killers). However, very different from normal killers, serial murderers are motivated by compulsion and have the urge to slaughter other humans.
My life was flashing before my eyes, I was realizing what was happening death was coming. Cold and stillness filled the room while the feeling of death started to overtake my body it was a different feeling but it had to come. My limbs felt heavy and I thought real slow everything was slowing down. Just then something odd happened like nothing I ever thought some sound came into the room an annoying buzzing creature.

All of a sudden I heard a gunshot, and then another, and five more to follow it. It was rapid fire. Tear gas was thrown into the crowd, all of a sudden a blinding pain blurred my vision, I was barely able to make out people dropping down next to me. I immediately dropped down to not be seen by the police shooting. The screams were deafening, I couldn’t help it, I started crying.
Realizing every person is fighting a great battle in his or her life has changed my worldview. I realize everyone is trying to find meaning and dealing with suffering in one form or another. “It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us” (98). Most people try, in one way or another, to follow this mindset in life. This allows me to be more understanding of why people make decisions and act on them.
Boom! I heard a crash of a car. I looked up , I thought I was in shock for a minute just from the loud sound! Once I came back to earth I saw what had happened I just didn't know it. As if it was a video the incident played back in my mind. I saw a big medal dump truck turning the corner, as a red pickup truck stopped in the middle of the road the dump truck driver tried to cease ...but it's was too late. I heard a bash and then for just a second everything was silent .
At this time it was 8:00ish, and I was in the middle of a shower, and I hear barking so I immediately jump out of the shower run downstairs, and all I have is a towel on I open the door to see Wilson(my golden retriever) chasing a man in a black hoodie with blue jeans on around my yard and then tackles him to the ground and begins to bite at his face. I get my dog off of him and offer the man a drink inside. So I pour the man a drink and look at my phone for the first time in hours, and i see that a prisoner has escaped a local prison. Right as I was about to show him I noticed what the prisoner was wearing in the picture. He was the same as the man in the picture with the same as the one standing in front of me. I start to choke up and tell him i will be right back. I run
Living in a place where getting out is not an option. I always believed that there will be an end to a bad situation. Getting shot at and saying words as if they were your last is sad; seeing your parents cry about something you can’t prevent is worse. December, 2001 I was born in a place that had been taken over by a big group of terrorists. Me, my family, and everyone in the city had a 40% chance of dying everyday. After living through certain in cidents, you start expecting everything to happen at anytime- any situation- any place around the neighborhood. Getting out of the house and hugging your family as if you will not make it back at the end of the day. It was the city of war. Iraq.
Since the beginning of the regime on criminal law, countries across the world have been focused on the rights of the accused and not those of victim. This is because of the consideration that the accused is alone and the government as well as the societal machinery is running against him.
