Setting Boundaries on Technology
Technology has provided humans with an easier way of living. Computers, automobiles, televisions, radios, telephones, and airplanes are a few examples on how technology has contributed to making our lifestyle an easier and more comfortable place to live in. Scientific research has made a tremendous breakthrough with the different cures for diseases. These technological advances have saved and improved lives. Although there are positive aspects of technology that are beneficial to society there are negative aspects as well. Take for instance, being able to clone someone is something critics will say is immoral. Being able to clone is an example of technology advancements never thought possible, but help

On the contrary, critics argue that scientific research should have boundaries. That somethings are not to be forced but made naturally. Cloning has been a topic that everyone has mixed feelings over. Many people feel that the act of cloning is an attempt to act as God and not allowing nature to take its course. Other reasons for restricting advancement in technology is that critics believe that machines are replacing the need for workers. For example, when the cotton gin was invented many workers were laid off because of the fact that it was more efficient, and produced more quantity than manual labor. This shows that when a machine is invented, it is made to improve the standards of that time and sometimes at the expense of employment. So, the machine doing more work at a faster time produces more goods, leading to lying people off.
In my opinion I feel that technology should have boundaries. There should be things that people should not touch and allow things to happen just the way they do. For instance, cloning should not be allowed. People should not make people. This is when boundaries should be placed. Cloning oneself can get out of hand. What if a person wants to make ten clones of oneself? Then everyone would be making multiples of himself or herself. Bringing someone to this world should be done naturally not forced. Anything forced will become chaotic. I feel that we are not capable of handling the responsibility of cloning, especially when
The global dispute that centers on technology, ranging from basic machines to the internet of things, is a very broad one. To each person the use of electronics means something different, some despise the rate in which the world is turning to robots and some praise the idea of the world turning into the real life version of the movie “Back to The Future”. If you walk around randomly asking questions about the future and technology, you are most definitely going to get a wide decree of answers. It seems though, as a unified decision that the world is in favor of such changes and will continue to move towards movies like “23”.
Technology is constantly evolving it comes with pros and cons. Some may feel that the advancement in technology is doing more harm to the way we think than bringing us a positive outcome to the way a human brain works. For me technology has allowed has proven to bring more positive than negative. Technology has allowed human kind to accomplish the impossible, and resources such as google has opened minds to view, and think differently. By having resources such as magazines, newspapers, journals, and books online for us to read without any hassle.
Is technology a good or bad influence on our generation today and upcoming generations? This new digital communication era has prompted researchers from a variety of disciplines to contribute information about the behavior of children and teens with technology (Jamshid 2013).
As opponent of my opinion, technology helped police track down criminals that match the faces and voices of criminals. It also can help Medical field to create some medicine to the patient. Nowadays, some surgery does not require surgery, with high-tech is safer. Technology also creates some Energy-saving vehicles to protect the environment. On the other hand, Technology reduces the quality of communication between people, it also has Potential threats to human privacy, and There are violent effects on teenagers by computer game
Technologies’ process to clone humans or animals is unethical because it’s artificial and it interferes with nature. Interfering, can be decided wrong and lead to the domino effect, meaning that it could change the attributes of life or alter negative results. According to Bertha Alvarez Manninen, Internet encyclopedia of philosophy, "Even attempting to perfect human reproductive cloning would entail a trial and error approach that would lead to the destruction of many embryos, and may produce severely disabled children before a healthy one is born". This means, that we would be wasting various amounts of the embryo’s cells before we can perfect a clone. Cloning also goes against religious ethics, for instance, people who have religious beliefs generally oppose the process of cloning human, because they believe it would result in man becoming the creator, and us having the superior power. According to Bob Sullivan, in 2013 NBC News, “For Christians, to bring … a new human or animal life by cloning as opposed to normal sexual reproduction is to ‘play God’ and obtain the power of the creator”. This means that some religions don’t allow this since they believe that a human will be taking control of what God
As human society becomes more advanced, the general consensus is that we rely on technology for our everyday lives. This fact can be seen around our lives as technology does not only include electronics but inventions that help make activities easier. It depends on where you live as third-world countries technological advancements may include things such as telephone lines for easier communication. However, technology is apparent in the more advanced areas in the world. Technology can be seen as either positive or negative depending on your point of view. Many discussions have erupted on this topic, but it seems that everyone can agree that technology has help the advancement of the human race. Breakthroughs in science has helped find cures
The ability to communicate messages almost instantaneously across the world, for instance, is an incredible gift that has allowed mankind to meet people they never would have in a different time. Technology has allowed us to exchange ideas, experience different cultures, and learn about life in different places and ages. Like anything, technology has both positive and negative effects based on how it is utilized.
We're able to learn about other societies and compare them to our own. This, and many other factors, makes technology a very positive aspect of our zeitgeist. However, there are many negative aspects as well. I believe that technology has made us a very lazy society. It is more of a rarity now to see people getting out into the world to gain knowledge. Everything is based on technology. Face-to-face communication is becoming even more rare. There are new products being developed every day, and yet, we do not really marvel at any of it anymore. It's not as spectacular to us anymore, even though it truly is a magnificent feat for us. Also, technology, and internet can be very dangerous things. People often overlook the “privacy policies” they are signing, and have no idea what they're getting themselves
We all know technology is a good thing, right? Or is it? We can all come up with reasons why technology is helpful or appropriate like we can for a particular medicine. And while some drugs are really great to cure or prevent a disease, sometimes the side effects outweigh any possible benefit. The same is true with technology. Some common negative side effects of technology are kids playing on their phones instead of going outside to play or young people not interacting face-to-face as much as they used to. Parenting is an area that has suffered since the rise in technology, specifically with phone use.
Finding boundaries that are strong enough to protect us but flexible enough to allow healthy connections to others is key to psychological and emotional health. And to me, trying to find healthy boundaries is an important part of the work.
Technology has benefited society's life today, but limits are reasonable for a child and their development. According to Summers, "or decades the AAP (The American Association of Pediatrics) has warned that children need to cut back on their screen time. The group's latest prescription: Entertainment 'screen time.'should be limited to two hours a day for children ages 3-18. And, for 2-year-olds and younger, none at all." As one can see, limiting technology is important for a child of under 18 years old for many reasons.
Technology is one of the most beneficial sources that we use today. Without technology we have no clue what position we would all be in. Although it is a desperate need for most of us, it can also be a menacing thing to our lives and community. We today use technology more than anything else. This causes it to take up most of our valuable time that we could be using to accomplish more relevant activities.
Scientists have not yet been able to successfully clone an entire human with a functioning brain and beating heart but, they have grown a heart in a lab. For people with religious views, cloning may become a bigger issue if it becomes more successful. Those who believe God is the creator of man will not like scientists creating humans
There is life and saving with in the idea of cloning. Heads should not be turned just because of its unnatural creation, cloning is a an idea that is looked down upon, but so was electricity and other great inventions that have increased our knowledge of the world we know today.
"Scientists Urge Senators Not to Rush to Ban Human Cloning" by Gina Kolata, is another interesting article that lets us see what the politicians are doing concerning the cloning issue. The article discusses how scientists and ethicists urged congress not to ban research on the cloning of human beings because society might rush to the wrong decision.
