The death of a young African American male in 1955 haunted the south and the African American society. Images of Emmett Till hanging in a tree were plastered on television and in newspapers for Joseph McNeil, Ezell Blair Jr., Franklin McCain, and David Richmond to see while attending North Carolina A & T College in 1960. These four African American men would soon become known as the Greensboro Four after instigating a sit-in at a Woolworth’s store in Greensboro, North Carolina. Their courage and determination ignited a movement to end segregation not only in their state but across the nation. History was being made that day as the young men sat at the counter, customers inside watching as the events unfolded, and the impact of this incident permeating across American’s eyes.

Officials from Medicaid and the Connector (Massachusetts’ health insurance exchange), with the blessing of then Governor Deval Patrick, scraped the failed system and restarted a rebuild with a new vendor. In addition the Governor sought federal permission to stop mandatory annual eligibility redeterminations for those on Medicaid, and set up “temporary coverage” in the Medicaid program that would be extended to anyone that signed up regardless of income level, an unprecedented and likely illegal

Maine Department of Human Services (DHS) believed that they needed a new Medicaid system so that information could be safer, accurate, and provided more functions. This new system needed to be updated with the new HIPAA requirements. DHS managers reasoned that building a new system would be easier and less expensive to maintain than upgrading and maintaining the old system (Oz, 2009). In 2001 DHS put together a proposal. They received two offers. DHS chose the lowest bid from a company called CNSI. CNSI had no experience with a Medicaid system. When trying to build this new system there was very little

Madeline, I too felt overwhelmed with the amount of options when it came to picking ILF's here in Lincoln. I also found it overwhelming when it came to the what each facility offered such as atmosphere, activities, housing options and such. When looking at Orchard Park's website I thought it looked sort of like a community center, a little run down with older furniture and it definitely needs some TLC. I liked the fact that Orchard Park understand the importance of residents making the space more homey by encouraging them to decorate their rooms with personal items.
n Savannah’s flawless first day of spring, Shortie Campbell tilted his face up to the sunshine and drew in a deep breath, enjoying the sweet scent of the blossoming Forsyth Park azaleas carried on the gentle spring breeze. He allowed himself two more deep breaths before he forced himself to get back to work. He reached into his battered white delivery van and picked up the wedding cake, careful to hold it away from his body, so he wouldn’t accidentally smash the frosting roses he’d created so painstakingly at five o’clock that morning. Balancing the three-tiered confection with care and precision, he carried it from his delivery van to the cake table.
