Social Although gambling industry can bring more employment opportunities and offer diversified leisure activities for the public, it could also lead harms. ‘Problem Gambling’ is the main disadvantage that gambling produced, it may result in an increasing number of personal bankruptcy, suicide, crime and child welfare may be ignored and so on (Williams, Rehm & Stevens, 2011). Hence, the Australian Gaming Council formulated the Responsible Gaming regulation to conduct the gambling industry in Australia and reduce the existing and potential harms.
There are several solutions for gambling. The first solution is governments’ regulation. Governments have taken measures such as limiting gamblers’ access to money, introducing cashless gaming, and limiting the rate of loss (Healey, 2011, p. 14). For example, Australia have banned ATMs and EFTPOS in casinos, and set poker machine’s bet limit to $10 (Healey, 2011, p. 9). In addition, Australian governments also use financial sanctions to the states which have not taken these measures (Healey, 2011, p. 9). Furthermore, Australian government have introduced pre-commitment system which allows gamblers to set time and money limit. According to the Productivity Commission, pre-commitment system is a very effective option to minimize the negative effect that caused by problem gambling (as sited in Healey, 2011, p. 11).

From the perspective of the criminal justice system, the spread of legalized gambling can be viewed as a double-edged sword. (Id, p.519) The legalization of gambling has seized the authority of the casino business out of the grip of organized crime and has administered a level of management which allows for legitimacy and veracity which to the oversight of gambling. Legalizing gambling
Legalizing gambling has been a controversy for some time now, especially on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota. They still have not come to an agreement, but have created some laws pertaining to the situation. I personally do not agree with legalizing gambling because I do believe it encourages alcohol, drug use, and increase the risk of mental illnesses.
One of humanity's oldest pastimes, gambling has been around for thousands of years. Considered to have divine beginnings, man cast sticks in an attempt to learn of their future, their fate, and the will of their gods. It was only fitting that the next step was speculation on what a throw would bring, thus, the game of chance, or gambling, was born. However, European history is peppered with attempts to ban it, and still it prevailed. Eventually, winning approval by governments in the fifteenth century, gambling was used to raise money, probably to fund public buildings, roadways, and such. Easy accessible, gambling has become a psychological habit for many, and deemed a cognitive disorder in the 80s and 90s (Glimne, 2015).
According to gambling rate study, approximately 1.6 billion people gambled at some point during a given year, and over 4.2 billion having gambled at some point in their lives (Lancelot, 2011). It is an extremely shocking statistic. A great number of people whom having gambled in their lives in order to try to do something unusual and fresh. However, some people do not regulate their timetable and regard gambling as a job so that they addicted to gambling activities. In addition, casinos are legalized, it is a crucial aspect why plenty of people to gamble. Except casinos, there are other different types of gambling activities such as slot machines so people are not only limited on playing in the casinos. So it gives people more opportunity

Out of the many subjects that were available on the instruction sheets, I chose to talk about gambling. The sources that I have chosen talk about the causes the results, the psychological relation and the studies regarding gambling. There are also different forms of gambling such as casino type gambling which involves slot machines and other machines that involves inserting money for a chance of gaining more, less or no profit at all and online gambling, which is becoming more common nowadays.
The debate on whether or not gambling should be regarded acceptable from a moral point of view has been ongoing for quite a while. However, one aspect of gambling that has been overlooked frequently has got to do with individual freedom. Ordinarily, people should have a right to choose whether or not to engage in gambling. Indeed, the freedom accorded to individuals to engage in activities of their choice as long as they do not interfere with the freedom of others can be regarded one of the key determinants of a truly free society.
Casinos and gambling go well together like cheese and crackers. Gambling has been a part of the hospitality and tourism industry for many years. Most people find it fascinating to see what their chances are of willing a large sum of money is like and perhaps retiring early to enjoy their money. Gambling attracts risk takers and adventurous people and it will always give an adrenaline rush because they are playing with the unknown and it gives them an exciting feeling of anticipation. Throughout history, there has been a corrupt history with gangsters/mobsters and gambling. The mobsters would have their own organized crime in the

One of the major costs of gambling is problem gambling, also known as an addiction to gambling. Problem gamblers are not only a risk to themselves, but they disrupt the lives of other people, such as their partners, parents, children, or friends. The government providing treatment for problem gamblers does not necessarily repair the casualties committed by the gambler. One third of all gambling revenue is produced by problem gamblers, therefore society is wrongfully profiting off the backs of the helplessly addicted. As of right now, there is no national policy on problem gambling. There is no focus on educating the public on what is responsible gambling or the prevalence of problem gambling. Problem gambling needs to be addressed, because the onus of self-control cannot be placed on those who have a serious impulse control disorder. In the words of John Maynard Keynes, “Individual liberal is important, but it was never the sole consideration because it always had consequences for other individuals”. As much as people have the right to make their own informed choices about gambling, they also have the duty not to infringe on the rights of others. This is similar to John Mill’s claim that “The only purpose for which power can be rightfully exercised over any member of a civilized community, against his will, is to prevent harm to others”. This is not to say that the state has a duty to parent individuals, but that the state has the duty to intervene if one
