The Adventure of the Speckled Band stars Sherlock Holmes who is a detective who only takes on the most unusual cases, one day a young woman comes to Holmes in need of his help to solve the murder of her twin sister. Holmes is eager and excited to help and begins his investigation upon the discovery of the number one suspect Holmes also finds that this suspect is a doctor. Holmes comes to the conclusion "that doctors make the greatest criminals." This observation by Holmes is something one can completely agree with, for a few examples the first being doctors tend to be intelligent, second doctors are familiar with how the human system works and lastly one should never question the prominent Sherlock Holmes.
Doctors are often some of the smartest people that society discharges into the world. Expanding upon this Doctors must undergo at least five years of schooling according to U.S. patons that require a 4 year minimal before a PHd is awarded and that's not including primary school. When someone is intelligent they tend not to make mistakes or at least not make the same mistake twice when committing a crime, because they often meticulous hours planning and going over even the most minuscule of details. Intelligent criminals are also very perceptive

In order to keep someone living you must have an understanding of things that make someone "not living." A doctor must also must understand and know every part of the human body, every bit and piece inside and out. Knowing these things a doctor can easily find a way to kill someone and make it look natural. Another aspect of doctors being great criminals is that doctors are trusted and are supposed to be morally sound and virtuous, so when one doctor is no longer morally aligned he or she can ruin the human system with a multitude of chemical concoctions. This is why doctors make great
In the short story The Adventure of the Speckled Band written by Arthur Conan Doyle, the main character, Holmes, makes a statement saying that “doctors make the greatest criminals.” Holmes was correct when saying that statement for several reasons. Doctors know how to use poison and medicines, know vital areas of the body, and are perfectionists.
“When a doctor does go wrong he is the first of criminals. He has the nerve and he has the knowledge.” When Holmes states this in the short story he is saying it to prove just in fact how doctors make the best criminals. Which is because they know how much medicine to give someone to kill them and they know just what to do to the human body to kill someone as quickly as possible.
The first thing to remember is that all doctors must adhere to the Hippocratic Oath which requires them to do no harm to their patients. However, the bounds of this oath are widely debated on cases that span Do-Not-Resuscitate directives, physician-assisted suicide, executions, and anything that results in the death of a patient. In the case of executions, AMA policy states that it is “unethical for doctors to be involved except in a peripheral way” (Tanner). The AMA’s stance prohibits doctors from “supervising or contributing” in any way even if it is to help ease the inmate’s pain
When I was younger, my friend introduced me to the world of Sherlock Holmes. I fell in love with the energy and intelligence of the renowned detective and it spurred my passion for mystery solving.
There’s an eerie silence as dawn draws closer in the Whitechapel District of London. A sudden scream cuts through the night like a knife cuts through butter. Jack the Ripper had claimed his first victim. As the police scrambled to find the criminal, Sherlock Holmes made a stunning entrance into the minds of Victorian Era readers. His ahead of the time methods and purely scientific ways of solving crime captivated audiences and showed up the current police force. Although Sherlock Holmes, a fictional figment of Sir. Conan Doyle’s imagination that kick-started a revolution in detective work and Michael Cordero, a fan favorite who rose to fame through the CW show, Jane the Virgin utilize a few of the same methods, their personalities and overall approach to criminal investigation differ greatly. However, they are both amply supplied with the skills and experience to successfully solve criminal cases.
Sherlock Holmes is an incredibly intelligent man. He has seen uncountable mysterious criminal cases and been the only man capable of solving it. I believe this gives him the experience necessary to declare who would make the best criminal. Holmes stated that "Doctors make the best criminals" at the conclusion of The Adventure of Speckled Band By Arthur Conan Doyle. It is entirely realistic that Holmes can make this conclusive statement because he is a well known detective whom has a lot of experience with criminals.
Chess, a game that requires strategy, patience, precise calculation, and careful planning. These skills sound familiar, though. A set of skills that we all know Sherlock Holmes possesses. We have witnessed it many times. Whether it be through our new favorite show, Sherlock, Game of Shadows, or A Study in pink, multiple times Sherlock has surpassed our expectations of both intellectual and physical ability. It seems unnatural to witness a person, a person just as myself, possess such amazing qualities. Therefore, it is only fitting to incorporate a game such as chess, where we get to witness Holmes put his skills to use once more, continuing to baffle and astonish his viewers (even if he is merely a character).
Most people would agree that Sherlock Holmes is perhaps the most famous fictional detective, but people also tend to underrate the role of his agent, better known as his sidekick, Dr. John Watson. Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson are fictional characters in Victorian England who solve crimes together in Arthur Conan Doyle’s novels. Holmes is a clever and intuitive detective. Because of this, Dr. Watson’s own intelligence is often overlooked, as he is not quite as gifted as his friend. In the Hound of the Baskervilles, the duo are hired to solve a Sir Charles Baskerville’s death in Dartmoor. Though Holmes is certainly more famous than his partner, Watson is actually more likeable than Holmes; admiration is different than likeability and
Sherlock Holmes is one of the most popular characters in late 19th century and early 20th century literature; however, Holmes would not have been an effective detective without his sidekick Dr. Watson. Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson had a multifaceted mutualistic relationship. Dr. Watson was given the pivotal role of retelling their adventures, Holmes gave Dr. Watson a few unpleasant jobs, and Dr. Watson was able to take away not only skills and abilities from Holmes but pure enjoyment from being able to work by his side. The combination of Holmes and Dr. Watson is one that is still fascinating readers one hundred years after they first appeared on paper. While Sherlock Holmes is the most clever, intuitive, and determined character in their adventures, he lacks the story telling
The forms of entertainment we have today represent more than just the superficial elements portrayed for our enjoyment. Any embodiment of literature is merely a reflection of a society’s identity. Through the use of violence and companionship, Guy Ritchie, the director of Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, created a distinct plot line that catered to the 21st century values and entertainment; this established a distinction between Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s novel, Sherlock Holmes, because the novel depicted a representation of the Victorian Era’s beliefs, which differ to those in the 21st century.
In the story “The Adventure of the Speckled Band”, Dr. Sherlock Holmes states his belief that doctors make the best criminals. In my opinion, I consider that to be true. That may not be the case nowadays, but if you put into account that this was during the 1800s, then you will see that he was correct. Back in the 1800s, doctors had access to poisons that weren’t detectable in an autopsy back then. Also, they had an extensive knowledge on human anatomy to know how to kill a human as effortlessly as possible, without a trace. Finally, they were very well respected, and weren’t likely to be considered criminals. If you put these factors into account, you will realize that there was no other person back then that was better equipped to kill someone than a doctor.
A doctor who also happens to be known as a criminal might as well be called a mad scientist. To become a doctor, it is vital that one must attend medical school and take classes in the science department. A doctor must understand exactly how the human body works in order to treat certain diseases, infections, viruses, etc. Most people would expect a doctor to deeply and genuinely care about each and every patient, but what if there was a doctor, say Grimesby Roylott, who only cared about himself?
Sherlock Holmes stops a man before he can kill another woman; he also sees the man responsible, Blackwood, hang for his crimes. Holmes figures out that Blackwood has worked this into his plans and is far from done, he has much bigger plans in store. Stars Rachel McAdams, Jude Law, and Mark Strong. Directed by Guy Ritchie.
In the given text The Adventure of the speckled band Sherlock holmes said that doctors make the greatest criminals there are many reason why this is so we will discuss those reasons and give details as to why this is so.
