Stretching over a surface of 450 acres, the forest makes for an ideal outdoor experience, because it features an amazing ecosystem. It is a perfect location for everyone who wants to get away from the bustle of the city and reconnect with nature. Sherwood Pines is famous mostly due to the story of Robin Hood, and even these days the forest is mostly associated with this legendary figure. The springhouse would provide people with water and would also serve as a "refrigerator." From here, I would drive to the Cable Mill area, which is my favorite. It contains the Mill, the Mill race, and the Dam. There is a blacksmith shop, a barn, and a sorghum mill as well in this area. It started out as the home of Gregg Cable in 1879 and later became the home of Becky Cable. The last site is the Henry Whitehead place. This cabin was made of mill- sawn square logs and has a brick chimney. An older one sits beside it. Ending your tour around the loop, you will find Sparks Lane, a two-way road that provides a shortcut back to the campground or an exit from the cove.
The forest is a representation of several themes. It is both a place of freedom and happiness, where Hester can escape the cruelty of Boston and it's people, but also a place of temptation and misbehavior, as seen in her and Dimmedale's "meetings" and Mistress Hibbon's "midnight rides." It's a place where witches gather, souls are signed away to the Devil himself and where Dimmesdale can,"yield himself with deliberate choice.....to what he knew was a deadly sin." In this instance the forest is a representation of evil and temptation.
Cades Cove Loop Road: This 11-mile one way road is also a popular option for people on hybrids and mountain bikes. (See above for more information about riding the loop) On a mountain bike, you'll have a few more options for additional riding in the Cades Cove area. They include:

Interestingly, the term "Urban Forest" is basically constant throughout the US consulted bibliography (Nowak & O’Connor 2001; Cumming et al., 2007; Nowak et al., 2002). The reason for this conceptual consolidation is most likely the definition chosen for purposes of state planning by United States Census Bureau which express the conservation policy and the planning for development of urban forests in many US cities (Cumming et al 2007).
