"No, you shouldn't open it! What if it isn't Herbert?" I asked.
"Oh that's nonsense." Said Mrs. White.
"I know that's no one but my Herbert."
Mr. White was looking for the Monkey's Paw rapidly. He finally found it and suddenly the door became unlocked.
"Now I can open it!" Exclaimed Mrs. White.
An expression of disappointment came over Mrs. White's face as she opened the door and noticed it wasn't Herbert. Standing at the door was the neighbor giving them flowers in condolences of their deceased son.
"I'm so sorry for your loss. Your son was a well mannered boy." Said the neighbor.
"Here's some flowers for your family."
He gave Mrs. White the flowers and

In a startling twist of events, a knock sounds at the door. The reader infers that Margaret hoped it was her husband when Hawthorne writes, ?She arose, placed her foot upon the floor, and slightly arrayed herself, trembling between fear and eagerness as she did so? Due to the inward keeping of her emotions, her joy leaks into her dreams and causes her happiness as she sleeps.
It began on a crisp, cool morning in March. The morning dew had settled on the brightly colored grass and everything that was low to the ground. This also meant that the far side Monkey Bars were also damp. I believe that my loyal friend Rylan and I were at the 10:15 morning recess when it all happened.
