Although many people may think the city council should not make it illegal to be out on the street after ten p.m. on weekdays and after midnight on weekends, city council, for one, should make it illegal for teenagers to be out so late on the streets because of danger, trouble, and the creatures. First and foremost, city council should make staying out late for teenagers illegal because of danger. If city council makes this illegal, it could prevent some of the kidnapping, use of drugs, or killings. Most things happen late at night because people are less seen, if teenagers are made to be home at a curfew, fewer of these dangers will occur to our town’s teenagers. In addition, city council should make it illegal for teenagers to be able
Teen curfew laws need to be changed because they are too strict, they keep teens from having fun during the night, and due to sleep cycles curfew gives teens only a few hours of freedom and sleep. Teen curfew laws need to be changed, they are too strict and are unfair. Curfew keeps teens from having fun during the night( orlando sentinel .com). Teens sleep in late during the day and stay up during the night and curfew gives teens only a few hours of freedom. For example, In Detroit teen crime dropped 6% at night due to curfew but went up 13% in the day( orlando sentinel.com). Teen curfew laws need to be changed because they are too strict, they keep teens from having fun during the night, and due to sleep cycles curfew gives teens only a few hours of freedom and sleep.
Even though there are the pros of town curfews, the cons can’t be forgotten. The situations that some teenagers and families may be in could contribute to them. It would be very dissatisfying if a town around me started a late night
In today’s society, many people fear that if teens are out late they are participating in mischief or that they are more likely to be involved in criminal activity. Many feel that by creating a city wide curfew for teens crime would be reduced. However, in reality, most crimes are committed during the day by adult offenders, not by individuals under the age of 18. A curfew for teens would not be the right way to go.
Now a days there are many teenagers going out late at night without any supervision. Many of them just go out to cause/look for trouble and get hurt. Usually, there is a higher risk of teenagers doing illegal things at night, for that reason, there should be curfews to prevent them from doing these things. Police officers are finding new ways to enforce curfew laws. The curfew in Orange County begins at 10 p.m. or 11 p.m., depending on the city, and last until 5am. Police officers have started to do “curfew sweeps” (looking out for teenagers past the designated hours) and have actually gotten young teens in trouble. Police officers should conduct more curfew sweeps because it helps their community's crime rate decrease, helps teenager get out of uncomfortable situations, and finally it will help parents keep their kids under control.
Although, Some people say that a curfew is not necessarily for keeping teens out of trouble. It is for keeping the town quiet at night and gives everyone some peaceful rest at night. In the article, “Manitoba town to ban kids at night”, the mayor of Killarney, Manitoba sates,” ‘It’s not that we have a big crime problem, we just have some youngsters out to all hours of the night disturbing the peace.’ ” An easier method for this is just to have a few police working at night to ensure peace. A demanding curfew that punishes many for doing nothing is simply unnecessary. “‘Ultimately, curfew laws don't make us more safe, but they make us less free,’ says Joe Cook, executive director of the Dallas ACLU” (Rosado and Manly).
It is very important for the safety and well being of the youth in our community that a curfew be issued and enforced. As of late there have been several petty crimes perpetrated in the late evening hours by some of the youth in our community. I suggest that we impose a curfew limiting the juveniles under the age of 18 to being accompanied by a parent or guardian between the hours of 11:00 pm and 5:30 am. This is to ensure that we limit crimes of opportunity as well as ensuring the safety of our children and other citizens within our community.
Curfews should not be set for teens by the government but by their parents. Many parents are not for this new law. Kimberly Ellis from Baltimore says, “The law doesn’t help rebuild residents’ trust in the police and gives the impression that we don’t know how to raise our kids,” (Wenger & Danae). Parents feel angry and
Also, with that law, parents will probably follow the time of that law. This means that teens cannot try and negotiate a time that is fair. If a teen believes that the curfew time is not fair and wants hangout with friends or go to a party, they will most likely sneak out. The point of the curfew is to keep people safe and make sure they do not get in trouble, but if a teenager is going to sneak out anyway, what's the point. A curfew law is a good idea on paper for parents who worry about there children, but there is no true way to make sure they are safe without taking away there freedoms, and that is what a Government forced curfew would do. Not all teenagers are bad and stay out past curfew just to party and hangout with friends, sometimes teens need to stay out late. High school students have extra curricular activities they do after school. I know from personal experiences that sometimes you can get home from a sporting event after a scheduled curfew. That is one of the first things i was
The teenager in me says, “No.” The considerate human in me who wants to prevent drugs and alcohol in children says, “Yes.” When I really consider this, and place myself in a teenager’s shoes in Baltimore, I am still undecided. Based on my personal experience, which is minimal, I don’t believe a curfew is going to help many of the children or parents in Baltimore. Therefore, I don’t believe this policy will be worthwhile. The curfew might help one or two kids seek proper help; however I find it hard to imagine that one policy setting a curfew can fix adolescent behavior. If the people in Baltimore are willing to put in the time and money of following through with this policy to help just a handful of children, then I think they should go through with it, but if they are expecting massive results, this policy should be revised. The children who could receive better futures because of this policy are the people who should get to decide if they want it or not, but the people who should have the most say in the matter are the ones with the smallest voices of
A city council is debating the adoption of a 10 P.M. weekday curfew and a midnight weekend curfew for teenagers. If the curfew is adopted teenagers on the streets after those hours would be breaking the law. The new adjustment to having curfews would keep teenagers out of trouble, because when people are telling the teenagers they need to be home at a certain time, then they will obey what people are telling them. Teenagers are not old enough to be out later than 10 P.M., especially on a school night. Teenagers need to have some sort of responsibility and one could be having a curfew at 10 P.M. and on the weekends at midnight. Majority of teenagers have sports they attend to after school. When teenagers have sports they don't want to be out past a certain time because their bodies are so
Everyone once was a kid who always wanted to play outside, even when it got dark out ,you still wanted to play outside i think that putting a curfew for kids and teenagers is not right because some teenagers have jobs at night . in summer it does not get dark till later and why should the state put a curfew out when it should be your parents job to do that. Some jobs that teenager work at require them to get off at a later time like eleven or twelve at night. if the state puts a curfew then teenagers cant work and earn money. some may say that kids should not work that late but teenagers are known too stay up late so they can do the job . The curfew should also not be put in place because in summer it doesn't get get
Curfew laws are important for everyone, especially for minors. This law put in motion is preventing crimes and ensuring people’s safety. Numerous teenagers don’t know the type of dangers caused by stepping outside the door during curfew hours. Many mischievous crimes happen during the late hours, therefore children should inside at home safe and not be a result of a horrific act. Staying out late can also lead to drug and alcohol usage. Having teens follow curfew laws makes a safe environment for everybody.
The topic of whether the city should adopt a curfew of 10 p.m. has been debated for years. Many people believe that the curfew would keep teens out of danger. However, others think having a curfew would interfere with young people's lives. Although, people think that a curfew of 10 p.m. would be unfair to teenagers, adopting a curfew would help let parents know where their teenager is, it would teach discipline and it would keep teens out of trouble. One important reason is, that it would help let parents know where their teenager is. This is because it would be against the law for them to be out past 10 p.m. For instance, if one was going to a friends house to stay the night then he or she's parents would know that they are at their
Are teens without a curfew really the big rebels people claim them to be? Many young adults and parents feel as though their kids are causing trouble and misbehaving in the late hours of the night. What these parents do not know is that state curfews actually do not keep teens out of trouble. Not having a curfew provides teens with a sense of responsibility, gives parents more control over what they allow their children to do, and it provides help for the states to prioritize their more serious issues within the region.
Cities should be closed at a certain time right before dark. Teens can easily get raped at
