Through analyzing the movies Hamlet and The Lion King, it is clear that the resemblance and differences between the two characters Hamlet and Simba and the storyline itself are very noticeable. The main similarities taken away from the movie is the similarities between these two princes that is widely talked about is the characters friendships and the death of both of their fathers. The deaths of their fathers made them try and forget and redeem their deaths. A difference between these two movies is the contrast between how Simba and Hamlet are perceived to their family and the public.
To begin with, Hamlet and Simba both had very close male friendships that helped them through their problems in life. Simba establishes a deep friendship with the ever

Both King mufasa and King Hamlet die. Mufasa is murdered by his brother Scar which could have saved his life but grabs his paws and throws him off the cliff into the oncoming herd. Scar did this because he wants to rule over everything. He wants to bring the hyenas into the Pride Rock which are the the abomination of the animals because of their saveregy and their only concern of filling their stomachs. Which this results in the soon to be downfall of Pride Rock if Simba doesn't step up and claim his throne. In Hamlet's case, his father dies of supposedly a heart attack until King Hamlet’s ghost come to Hamlet while he is in the woods and tells him that Claudius, King Hamlet’s brother, poisoned him. It is also a possibility that Hamlet is slowly going crazy after the death of his father and that he is seeing things, but it is assumed to be believed the ghost is
After the process of making their way back home, both princes end up with fighting with their uncles. In “The Lion King”, Simba fights with Scar and Scar gets killed by the hyenas. Prince Hamlet in Hamlet kills king Claudius with a poisonous knife. Both “The Lion King” and “Hamlet” allows the main character to overcome a moral struggle. In “The Lion King”, Simba must act and be the king of his palace for sake of the animals of the kingdom and his father instead of running from what happened in the past. In “Hamlet”, prince Hamlet must decide to kill his uncle and take the risk of getting himself killed, or to keep the secret of King Claudius killing King Hamlet and live with it for the rest of his life.
In comparison, Scar’s selfish character is similar to that of Claudius. Both Scar and Claudius have an unpleasant image. Scar is dark in colour, skinny, with long black nails and green evil eyes. The eyes represent jealousy, greed, and envy. Both characters are “thinly veiled” and scheme to destroy people they dislike. In the opening scene of the Lion King, Mufasa confronts his brother Scar. “Don’t turn your back on me!” Mufasa stops Scar with a warning. Scar shoots back – “No, perhaps you shouldn’t turn your back on me!” This is a veiled threat on the king’s life. Because the king is never introduced in Hamlet, the audience is left to wonder whether the king had any notice that his brother wanted him dead. However there is a
There is a lot of similarities between the Lion King and Hamlet. One of the biggest similarities is the characters, their traits, and their aspiration. In the Lion King Simba’s uncle Scar killed Simba’s dad and in the play Hamlet, Claudius killed Hamlet’s father. Simba and Hamlet are super alike. They both are loving, caring, empowered, fighters and they both want to kill their uncles because of what they did to their dads. Ophelia and Nala are both loving, caring and care about Simba/Hamlet. Ophelia and Nala are both the love interest of the main character. Scar and Claudius both want control of the kingdom. Simba and Hamlet both disappear from their families for a little. Both of the families in the Lion King and Hamlet are royal families. There is still a lot more similarities, but they mostly all have to do with character traits and what they do.
Simba and Hamlet, the main protagonists of The Lion King and Hamlet, can represent both the exiled child and tragic hero archetypes. In The Lion King Simba was compelled to leave his homeland because he was led to believe he had killed his own father. In Hamlet, Hamlet was forced to leave by his uncle’s order. Likewise in The Lion King Simba’s leave was also influenced by his uncle’s action. Unlike Simba’s unawareness of his uncle’s role in his father’s death, Hamlet is fully aware of his father’s killer being his uncle. As of the beginning of Hamlet, he meets his father’s ghost who asks Hamlet for vengeance, as the ghost leaves he says “Adieu adieu Hamlet remember me”. This scene can be compared to when Simba also meets his father’s ghost, who says to Simba as he leaves “Remember who you are”. Simba’s father appears more concerned about Simba’s state of mind and convinces him to return to The Pride Lands, whereas Hamlet’s father shows little concern for Hamlet and wants to be remembered and avenged. Hamlet is older and spends less time than Simba in exile whereas Simba spends a few years exiled without a care, which is shown in the song Hakuna Matata. After his father’s influence, Simba returns. Upon both of their returns, a fight occurs. Hamlet kills his uncle and is also killed himself whereas in The Lion King Simba doesn’t actually kill scar but says to him “Run away Scar...Run. Run away and never return.” however Scar pounces on Simba and their duel begins, in the end, Simba throws Scar off a cliff leaving him to the hyenas. Hamlet and Simba both represent the exiled child and tragic by being forced to leave their homeland and to kill, fight their own uncles to save their homeland. The Lion King’s ending was altered to have almost no death to make the film
There are many similarities between the characters Claudius and Scar. One of those similarities is how they are both very cruel, especially to the people that they are supposed to love. One example of this from Hamlet is when the ghost says, “The serpent that did sting thy father’s life / Now wears his crown,” exposing Claudius. (I.V.44-45). This quote shows just how cruel Claudius really is. He killed his own brother so that he could be the king and rule over Denmark. Also, Claudius never admits what he did and he doesn’t feel any remorse after doing it. Throughout the entire play we see Claudius doing cruel things that affect the other characters. One example of Scar being cruel is when he also killed his own brother. Just like Claudius killed Hamlet Sr, Scar killed Mufasa so that he could take over the Pridelands. He was jealous of Mufasa and wanted to be king so that the other animals would respect him. Instead, Claudius remained unliked by the other animals and didn’t gain from his cruel actions. Ultimately, they are both very cruel characters that were willing to kill in order to get what they wanted.
In Hamlet; the people of Denmark are upset because of the death of Old King Hamlet who passed away because he was bitten by a poisonous snake and Claudius had to become king. Hamlet sees a ghost who looks like his father, who is roaming around the castle. Hamlet tries to talk to the ghost; the ghost tells Hamlet that he is his father and he was killed in the most unnatural way. Hamlet is told by his ghost father that he wasn’t killed by poisonous snake, it is a lie that has fooled everyone in Denmark; Old King Hamlet says to Hamlet, “but know, thou noble youth,/ the serpent that did sting thy father’s life/ now wears his crown” (1. 5. 45-47). Hamlet was told by his ghost father that he has to walk the earth at night until he is done penance for his past sins; the horrible crime that is against nature, a king dies unnaturally. Old King Hamlet’s ghost tells Hamlet that he was sleeping in the garden and his brother Claudius snuck into the room as he was sleeping and poured poison into his ear; he wasn’t killed by a poisonous snake but his brother Claudius killed him. Claudius “robbed Old King Hamlet of his life, crown and queen; he cut him off in the middle of a sinful life” (1.5. 81-83) and he wants revenge on Claudius; Hamlet agrees to get revenge on his uncle Claudius for his father Old King Hamlet. In The Lion King; Scar wants to be king, he plans to kill his brother Mufasa; Scar

“Revenge his foul and most unnatural murder” (I.V.31). In Shakespeare's play titled Hamlet, Lies, deception, and foul play are all encompassed into an iconic tale of revenge. He goes insane with the information he has come upon, making people worry about his mental state. But before he took revenge, he had to make sure the ghost was telling the truth. Hamlet is introduced to actors, by which he requests for them to act out the murder in front of the new King to see how he reacts. The king, knowing what he has done, is outraged as he watches the re-enactment. That resulted in Hamlet believing the ghosts’ information. Developing the plot further, Hamlet becomes more desperate to avenge his father's death, causing him to accidentally kill Polonius while trying to kill the new king with the poison sword manufactured by Laertes himself. Causing Polonius’ daughter, Ophelia, to commit suicide because of her father's death. All these event happened because of the act of getting vengeance and that's how the character of hamlet developed the plot and the theme of
If the text had been written in different time or place or language or for a different audience, how and why might it differ? In the play by William Shakespeare is about Hamlet finding out that his father was murdered. King Claudius killed Hamlet's father, in order to get full power of the throne and marrying Hamlet's mother. Hamlet planned to get his revenge on Claudius because the king's ghost had told him,how he was murdered. King claudius had put poison in the king's ear and got the power to be on the throne.
