In all the important characters, Lord Capulet refuses to listen to Juliet’s request, which result in Juliet’s death. The similarities and difference of characters have always brought out emotion and displayed lessons throughout the course of literature. Through the disputing of two rich families, who, through the love and deaths of their younger generations, are final brought together, a tragic love story is formed in Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. Across the course of William Shakespeare’s tragedy, Romeo and Juliet, the characters Prince Escalus and Friar Laurence, who, despite being from neither family and going about it in different methods, share the common goal of ending the feud between the Montagues and Capulets and exemplifying the theme that feuds bring only suffering. The plot of each film has major differences that affect the overall significance of the scenes. Zeffirelli’s movie shows Romeo mourning over Juliet’s body in the Capulet’s Vault. During his final speech to Juliet, Romeo sees Tybalt’s dead body lying next to her, and begins to apologize for killing him. After Romeo’s death, Zeffirelli also includes Friar Laurence entering the vault to come across Romeo’s body. As Juliet wakes up, Friar Laurence tries to lead her away before she discovers her husband had committed suicide to be with her. The inclusion of these characters shifts the attention away from the tragic love story of Romeo and Juliet, taking away from the romance and heart break that this scene should convey to the viewer. Relating to William Shakespeare 's Romeo and Juliet, a long feud between the Montague and Capulet families, disrupts the city of Verona and ends in a tragedy for Romeo and Juliet. “Revenge, love, and a secret marriage forcing the young star-crossed lovers to grow up quickly and fate causes them to commit suicide in despair” (Amanda Mabillard). Romeo and Juliet portrays the chaos and passion of being in love, combining images of love, violence, and family in an impressionistic rush leading to the play’s tragic conclusion.
“True love stories never have endings” (Richard Bach). Throughout history, the classic play The Most Excellent and Lamentable Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, written by William Shakespeare, has been recreated many times. The play will most likely be recreated a million more. True love stories don’t ever die, unlike Romeo and Juliet themselves. However, this “tragic” ending isn’t entirely their fault. In The Most Excellent and Lamentable Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, several other characters influenced Romeo and Juliet’s deaths, including Mercutio and Friar John, Friar Lawrence, and Lord Capulet.
Act 3 begins with some heat. Tybalt is looking for Romeo, so they can duel for ruining the party he had crashed earlier. Romeo denies the duel, because they are now family due to the marriage. Not too many people know about it. Mercutio being a good friend, goes in the duel for Romeo. Now, Mercutio and Tybalt are dueling. Unfortunately Tybalt stabbed Mercutio under the arm of Romeo. Romeo was trying to get them out of fighting, no good. Mercutio is dying, as he’s falling he yells “A plague o’ both your houses!”. He sets a curse on both families. As a result of their duel, Romeo kills Tybalt as revenge. Benvolio tells Romeo to run, Prince Escalus comes and exiled Romeo. Benvolio acts like a prologue in this scene, because he tells everything
The famous and critically acclaimed Shakespearean tragedy, Romeo and Juliet, follows the vicious feud between two powerful families of fair Verona. These arch rivals (the Montagues and the Capulets) have children who fall madly in love. In the song“You Can’t Always Get What You Want” by the Rolling Stones, a similar theme to Romeo and Juliet is presented: life does not always go the way people plan, but one can always get what one needs out of life, and it will turn out just fine.
Although love is an affectionate and peaceful feeling, it can also be dangerous and deadly towards many lives if mixed with immature and impulsive characteristics. The tragic story of Romeo and Juliet, written by the well-known author William Shakespeare centers on a corrupt society and the romance of two young lovers, each a member of one of the feuding families, the Capulets and the Montagues. The importance of wealth, status and pride in society causes each of the family’s to disregard and neglect the new love formed by their immature children, Romeo and Juliet. The neglectful decisions created by the families, leads the passionate young lovers to perform a string of mistakes based off of their impulsive love, thus ending the conflict by taking their own lives and causing pain in the lives of those dear to them. The tragic love story, Romeo and Juliet qualifies as a Greek tragedy for the reason that it contains plot events displaying corruption of society as well as chains of mistakes created by the tragic hero, Romeo. Shakespeare shows that love can either be one’s hero and savior or a dangerous weapon if put into the hands of those who possess immature and irresponsible characteristics.
