SisterReach Youth Ambassador Program
The purpose of this youth ambassador program is to develop concepts and methods of stimulating conversation and strategy needed to understand human relationships and how to handle and/or advocate social issues and problems. Also, to develop thinking skills and competence in social criticism and action, so that ambassadors can engage in decision-making and participate in activities, which improve human welfare. Adult mentors will facilitate the curriculum, but discussions and projects are to be driven by ambassadors’ thoughts and actions.
Ideas to be addressed (generated by ambassadors): 1. Comprehensive Sexual Education 2. Breaking cycles of gang/domestic violence 3.Reproductive justices, rights and policy

Dress Code
Dress Conservatively SYA has a dress code in place to protect the health and safety of both ambassadors and volunteers. Be smart and respectful by dressing modestly at SYA meetings, field trip and community service meetings. What NOT to Wear: Clothing that is flashy, revealing. Clothes that are too tight. No Clothes with offensive graphics or slogans.
What to wear: Clothes you won’t mind getting dirty. Loose fitting shirts with sleeves (e.g. t-shirts) no displays or offensive slogans. Jeans Comfortable, closed-toe shoes (e.g. tennis shoes).
Any additional site-specific dress code guidelines will be shared in a SYA meeting prior to the service day. Any student who is dressed inappropriately will be asked to change his or her attire.
Community Service Projects
You may have a service project that takes place outside, or a long walk to and from a service site. Whether or not you’re scheduled to be outside, make sure you’re always prepared to do work in a variety of weather
leaders should have guidelines for the students as to what is and what is not appropriate clothing
Always being pestered about whether or not we are in dress code gets very tiresome very quickly. These dress code violations add up and more serious problems arise. According to a study conducted in 2007, violent behaviors increased fourteen a year with an enforced dress code, ( Granberg-Rademacker, Bumgarner, Johnson. n.pag.). According to Occupy Theory a “simple dress code violation” could then escalate into a disastrous situation, whether with parents or the students lashing out, (“School Dress Code Pros and Cons List” n.pag.). As an honor student, I have never received a
Dress codes are becoming more and more popular throughout the United States; however, this does not mean all administrators agree with them. In fact, there are educators
On day 3 we were advised to wear more business like or dressier clothing. A simple black dress is flattering on everyone and is still super stylish. I know spaghetti strap is not very professional but I took a blazer just in case I felt too exposed (I didn't). I also stuck with minimal accessories so as not to over do.
Community service is immensely important to Caroline. She tries to do service while giving and getting the most out of it. A future goal regarding service is to be able to take over the Service Opportunity Depot at Mount in which she would help plan service trips for students in the school. A form of great service she does for her school is being an ambassador. With that role, Caroline serves as a role model and tour guide for families and students interested in attending Mount Saint
Ever thought that not having a school dress code could lead to violence over something so simple as to what a person might own or wear? To many people 's surprise, school dress codes can be a very important topic to discuss at any and every public school. This essay will summarize, critique, and evaluate the article "School Dress Codes" by Krystal Miller.
Dress code has been the biggest topic in Treasure Coast High School. There have been many meetings regarding that issue. There should be dress codes for students for many reasons. Some of TCHS dress code rules are collared shirts tucked in, must have sleeves with necklines, shorts/dresses must be at knee length and turtle necks. Like Mallika Sherawat said, “To undress is the dress code these days and I didn’t start it. We are all voyeurs, so why the complaints? Until girls don’t walk in a swimsuit on the stage, they don’t get the crown, so why is everyone so holier-than-thou?”
As a student, I have demonstrated many works of service to my community and school. Service opportunities have shaped me into the person I am today and these projects have made me realize how fortunate I am for all that I have. While I've been doing these service projects through the years, it has been a pleasure seeing the joy on the faces of people that aren't as fortunate as I am. Service projects that I have completed include managing the fish booth at the St. Leo's Parish Festival, being an altar server at St. Leo's Parish, helping cook dinner for the Ridgway Fire Department during carnival day setup, participating in the St. Marys Light Up Night by dancing, and Christmas caroling to local residents. I also participated in a zombie/princess
Another benefit of the ambassador program would be that it would allow new students to become comfortable and gain a form of confidence. It’s important for new student/staff to be comfortable because if they weren’t think of how difficult it would be for them to focus not only in class but just in general. And when students become comfortable and confident enough, that’s when they will be able to focus on things like work. But it’s often thought that being comfortable shouldn’t prioritize over classes and what matters is getting work done. But what most don’t realize is that it’s virtually impossible for people like us to focus on work if we feel out of place in our everyday environment. But this program would allow
Dress codes is a standard of clothing for school, office, club, or restaurant. Schools have dress codes to promote professionalism and a distraction-free learning environment. More standards of dressings are set in place for girls than males. This causes an unequal amount of bias towards women and sexism to occur in the dress code.
Currently, the student dress code in the 2015-2016 Payette High School (PHS) Handbook is completely vague. It mentions in depth dressing issues regarding hats and graphics on clothing. Now the exact wording regarding how much the body needs to be covered is, “Dress shall not disrupt or distract from the educational process.” As I discussed this issue with students that currently attended PHS, I noticed a correspondence among different stories. Due to the fact that there is not a specific dress code, different teachers have diverse interpretations of what disturbs the educational process. Another aspect of the dress policy includes, “Violations of dress code may result in removal from school until dress is appropriate.” Students, particularly female students, express
Dress code is a controversial subject in a lot of schools. Dress code is a set of rules put into place to promote school safety and encourage a positive learning atmosphere where students are not distracted by their peers’ outfit choices (Daniels). This set of rules allegedly is put into place to stop the sexualizing of women by keeping them from wearing “suggestive clothing,” but what is suggestive clothing? Who defines what clothes are seen as “suggestive?” Dress code does more harm than good for students, therefore it should not be present in public schools.
When it comes to dress code, every individual has a different viewpoint for its implementation. There are clothes that could be fashionable to one person but seen as offensive to another. A dress code can be justifiable when put into a situation that really does require certain attire to be worn. It gives a sense of formality and distinguishes an individual apart from a group. This report seeks to compare and contrast the characteristics of school dress codes with that of dress codes in the workplace.
If that happens then you will draw extra attention to yourselves, with could at some point endanger your mission. The dress code for guys is pretty simple. They mostly just wear khaki shorts with polo shirts and maybe a sweatshirt. The dress code for girls is quite the opposite, far from simple. You can always get away with leggings and a big t-shirt or sweatshirt, but you have to be careful of what the logo is on the shirt or jacket, sadly I have made that mistake myself. Make sure you always wear a common brand or you will be questioned. Really the main idea when choosing your outfits is picking out the clothes that will help you fly under the
A dress code is simply a set of rules about what clothing may or may not be worn in a school that each student has to follow. Almost every school has a dress code that their students have to follow by during the school hours. Whether the students’ want to follow it, the policy can help them for a job in the future, because they know what is expected of them. Dress codes in high schools in the United States should be enforced to promote equality to every student to improve his or her educational and social experience.
