Insightful Guides
When you were younger, did you ever get separated from your parent and not know what to do or whom to go to for assistance, and because you didn’t know what to do you just wandered aimlessly around? I know I have, and that’s what a lot of people who are lost like that do. In fact, that happens a lot here with new students. Yes, there are the peer helpers but that only gives the new student one guide for one day. And that guide doesn’t even show them their classes, they take them to the classes they have and then the new student, the very next day, is on their own to find their own way. But wouldn’t it be great if they knew someone, or multiple people who could help them on the spot, almost anytime during the school

Their independence will be not only in finding their way around but also in knowing where to locate things and who people are. Now many people argue “they’re in middle school,” and “they’re older now,” meaning we have to be independent anyway. But even though we are older, that doesn’t mean we always know where things are or we always know what to do. That’s like saying a newborn can survive without caretaker. It’s as simple as this; newborns know very little about the world and how it works as to new students knowing very little about new schools and how they work. So regardless of maturity or age, people need to be dependent before they can be independent, and the ambassador program is a good form of that temporary dependence.
Another benefit of the ambassador program would be that it would allow new students to become comfortable and gain a form of confidence. It’s important for new student/staff to be comfortable because if they weren’t think of how difficult it would be for them to focus not only in class but just in general. And when students become comfortable and confident enough, that’s when they will be able to focus on things like work. But it’s often thought that being comfortable shouldn’t prioritize over classes and what matters is getting work done. But what most don’t realize is that it’s virtually impossible for people like us to focus on work if we feel out of place in our everyday environment. But this program would allow

In respect to these characteristics of a psychological sense of community, students could coordinate between first year and second year students to establish a mentoring relationships for those that would like to obtain their LPC, Licensed Professional Counselor. The students who are new to the program would be able to contact the volunteer second year students who are working towards their LPC, in an effort to gain information and receive advice about classes that they should take that would qualify for the requirements of the LPC. Perhaps, at the beginning of each semester those who are second year students could hold a question and answer session for incoming students interested in taking the LPC track. This first meeting would allow students to develop a relationship and emotional connection with those who are second years. Questions that the students may have would be answered and the intervention would serve as informal advising.
I want to help students because in school years are often a very stressful time. They need someone to go to when they feel overwhelmed, sad, desperate, confused, angry, depressed, anxious, or hopeless. In grade school, I will work with parents and teachers to help kids who have problems with learning disabilities, behavioral problems, or family issues. In middle school, I will help students problems with friends, struggles with schoolwork, and changes in the body. During high school will be similar as middles school but with life decisions, such as whether to join the military, what college to go to, and what career to pursue. Helping individual students are my way of enjoying a
Tenesha provides help to first year students in her class who are confused about a particular topic and asks her question. If someone needs incite on a question dealing with one of her Child Psychology classes she would direct them to whom they need to speak too. She feels that the Professor adheres to her major; she doesn’t provide nor receive help from other faculty or staff on campus. Tenesha identified that she socializes in café, student union or student lodge if she needs directions. She can study in library or student lounge; but rather study independently at home. She doesn’t seek personal help on campus; she prefers confining in her family and close friends she grew up with. When Tenesha has an academic problem, she speaks to her Academic advisor of class Professor. She gets information regarding financial aid or registration from the office’s located on campus and receives alerts through her email on financial updates. She makes use of the resources on campus adulates to her needs as a student at SUNY Old Westbury.
Now, I am aware that there are tutoring options available. Students can visit the main campus in Natchitoches and utilize the tutoring center there, or, via the NSU website, students can access both online and over-the phone tutoring. These are helpful options and my classmates and I feel grateful for this resource, however I feel that it is important to remember the broad spectrum of learning styles. Many students need that face-to-face encounter in order to feel comfortable asking questions, drawing the concept out themselves, and fully grasping the topic being taught. Driving an hour to the Natchitoches campus isn’t realistic for students, many of whom have jobs and/or families to be tending to. Online or over the phone simply isn’t enough.
Edmonton Elementary implemented a new program to assist students with homework issues, personal problems, and other topics that affect students. Hornets Helpers have been selected from the 6th grade by their peers based on confidentiality and trust. After being selected, the students were trained by Superintendent Hurt. The object of this program is to give students someone to go to when they need someone to listen, guide, connect with, and just be there, but they aren’t comfortable going to an adult. IF students do want or needs to talk to an adult the School Guidance Counselor is always
The counseling offices will also have an open door policy. The students will be able to come and talk to a counselor any time during the school day as long as they have permission from their teacher to leave class. Having an open door policy will allow the students to feel more
Whether students decide to find assistance from doctors, professors, counselors, friends and family, UCI has a mass variety of people to talk to in order for guidance. The great amount of people available helps the students to
When I was a freshman, I shared a homeroom with nineteen other freshmen students and six seniors. Those seniors were known as “Bomber Pilots”, whose purpose was to mentor freshman students and demonstrate how to succeed at St. Xavier High School. The significant impact that my bomber pilots had on me, and the way in which I looked up to them, started my aspirations to do the same for other students. In that same year, I was nominated to be an “Ambassador” whose primary duties are to show interested 8th graders around the school and explain all of the advantages of becoming a St. Xavier student . My Sophomore year I was a tour guide at the St. X open house for families who wished to be better informed about the school’s academic and extracurricular
I am a fitting choice for LA Ambassador as I possess traits that would truly help our school become an even more welcoming and warm environment for parents, students and guests. This is because I am an academically driven student and therefore will be able to balance meetings with schoolwork and other extra-curricular activities while maintaining a good academic record. Next, I am very approachable and helpful therefore would love having the opportunity of helping Grade 8 students as well as parents new to the school. In fact, I demonstrate these traits in a classroom setting by helping out peers when they are facing difficulty understanding a concept that I have a solid understanding of. Moreover, I am very cooperative and enjoy working with
A concurring issue within the school department is the accessibility of the counselors to students facing overwhelming amounts of stress, failing grades, and schedule issues. Currently, the school system attempts to alleviate such issues through the use of paper documentation for review; however, that creates excessive paperwork that ultimately leaves students dissatisfied with unresolved issues. In addition to providing students with the ability to easily schedule an appointment with the counselors, students would also have the ability to schedule appointments with tutors to propel them towards academic success. The tutors would work hand in hand with the counselors to help students who are off track for graduation to receive the individual assistance that they need to graduate on time. In turn, this app will alleviate the possibility of students from falling off the deep end without anyone helping them climb back up the ladders of success. We will strive to ensure every single student have the individual attention that he or she needs.
Firstly, studying international relations gives a lot of opportunities for travelling to both students and those who are working in a job which is related to international relations. For instance, the students can go abroad for educational purposes with different international student programs. One of these programs is Erasmus. Erasmus is an international program which enables students to study abroad for six months or one year. Those students who went abroad with Erasmus can reinforce their CV, speak English fluently, or even learn a new foreign language. Thus, if it is considered that international relations students have to learn new languages as many as they can, Erasmus might be a good choice for these students who study international relations. In addition to Erasmus, there is another organization, especially for the international relations students, which is called Model United Nations (MUN). MUN is a simulation of United Nations. This organization gives chance to go abroad for university students. MUN also motivates students to learn for the reason that while the students are preparing to represent a country, these students, who attend MUN meetings, have to learn a lot of information about the country which they chose to represent. The graduates who are working as a diplomat or following an academic
Despite living in a world where immediate solutions or answers to problems is the expected, in my role of Pupil Support Worker at a local Secondary school, it is very apparent that one solution most certainly does not fix all. Someone once said, “You have to change by yourself, but you don’t have to do it alone”. It takes time to build a relationship with a young person, and even more time until they have come to their solution. For this to work effectively, I have to engage with my clients using counselling skills, without being a qualified counsellor. This essay will look at the above question and answer what I deem to be essential in a helping relationship.
In addition to fiscal benefits to international students, there are benefits to the university and surrounding community that are gained from an improved relationship with the international student population For instance, international students who remain after graduation become members of the community and promote cultural awareness and competence (Bodycott & Walker, 2000; Kumasi & Hill, 2011). Moreover, universities can benefit from greater retention and completion among students. Other nations such as the
I think that high school counseling departments like mine miss a golden opportunity to help students like me. As a student in high school, I seemed to have things going for me. I was an athlete, an average student, and
