“Time to go my brother,” said Shinkai as we were on the roof top. We’re doing a mission The B.O.S.S (that's us) are trying to stop the Chinese and German air lines because they are boarding American people and have bombs on the planes so now we’ve got to stop them. “Get your snipers and ziplines setup and ready just in case if they see us,” I shouted. It was going to be tough but our plan was foolproof so we were clear on that one.(and B.O.S.S means Brutal Official Se Society)”Sir they spotted us”said Carl.(the new member of the group his name's Carl he's pretty nice) “Let's move out men stick to the plan we can't lose anybody,” Ethan shouted. “Danny fire when ready,” Rayson told me.(we call him Ray instead of Rayson) “Get to the chopper Terminator classic” I shouted. “Danny we could use some missiles right now,” Matt said while hitting me in the head. “Yeah, yeah I’m on it,” I said sarcastically. …show more content…

When someone first enlists in the war, they are fresh, new, and ready to fight for their country. As the years go by, war breaks the soldiers down and turns them into rugged, motionless men. The generals mold them into killers with no feelings and only designed to kill without content. This is true in The Sniper by Liam O'Flaherty. The theme of war brings out the worst in people turning them into monsters is developed through three types of conflict: man vs man, man vs himself, man vs circumstances.
“My company commander, looking at my thin frame and cursed baby face, decides that the front is no place for me. He has me transferred to headquarters to serve as a runner. I should be grateful, but I am NOT. I am constantly sneaking off with patrols and scouting parties. The company commander finally calls me to the carpet. “I hear you can’t stay away from the front Murphy”. “Yes sir” I replied. “What’s wrong with you? You want to get killed?”. “No sir”. “Now I’m going to do myself a favor. I’m putting you back in the lines and you’ll stay there until you’re so sick of action you want to vomit”. (2)
This short story was interesting to read, and the ironic ending was surprising. The main character unknowingly shot his own brother. Despite the fact that numerous relationships are severed through war, I was still startled by the abrupt ending. Humans rarely think twice about their actions, resulting in catastrophic consequences. The story portrayed the main character as a Republican sniper who would carelessly act, such as trying to light a cigarette in the darkness during war. He never thought about the results of pulling a trigger on a person, and the outcome was atrocious. I would recommend this short story for people who prefer surprising plot twists. Although, this book was enjoyable to read, on a scale from 1-10, with 10 being the highest,
As he desperately walks away from his brother, tears begin to run down his face.
Six machine guns were suddenly trained on us. I could hear clicks as safeties were being disengaged.
The anticipation was gnawing at my stomach, the date was June 5th 1944.I feel i'm going to die on this bed, waiting for the green light to invade Omaha, just as I feel myself calm down we are called outside. I hop out of my bed and start the stroll outside, while i'm outside I run into Pvt. Jason Tyron, although everyone calls him Humphrey due to the fact he looks like Humphrey Bogart. I slug him in the shoulder, “How's it going Humphrey.” With no hesitation he slugs me back twice as hard.,
The snipers Journey in war was necessary to discovering that war pushes people to enforce brutality and violence on themselves and those they fight against, having no opportunity to shine compassion on one another. War kills innocent lives and tears apart families leaving only the feeling of hate, anger, and grief.
A patrol team from the 1st Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division is responsible for searching suspected insurgent hideouts, capturing enemy combatants and bringing them in for questioning. On July 28th, 2011 the patrol team was in the city of Bagdad, Iraq when a roadside bomb takes out the first two vehicles in the convoy killing four soldiers. They immediately pull to the side of the road and take cover as the rest of the convoy comes under small arms fire. A long fight pursues, but the patrol team is able to disarm the insurgents and take them captive. The next day, back at camp, the platoon leader puts several soldiers from the patrol team in charge of interrogating one of the suspects. He explains the technique he wants used to obtain this
“Why are you not out crawling across the field?” exclaimed Drill Sergeant Saunders. He continued by yelling, "What are you waiting for, soldier?"
In my opinion the sniper is a round character. There are various examples of him being a complex and very humane character throughout the story. In the beginning it states that he has the face of a student and is therefore quite young but despite that he’s a sniper who has no doubt killed others before. He later kills two nationalists with no remorse but after he kills the enemy sniper, the adrenaline from the battle leaves his body and he immediately becomes regretful. He is sickened by the body of the man he shot and he begins to curse the war. This shows a complex personality because although he is fighting for what he believes in, he doesn’t like the means to achieve them and the death of others. The sniper is also shown to be able to persevere,
When I first enlisted in the Army, I had no idea what to expect. I didn't know where I would end up or if I would enjoy it. In fact the only thing I did know was that I was going to end up in Oklahoma for Basic Training and San Antonio for Advanced Individual Training to become a medic. Soon after my arrival to Oklahoma I discovered that my life was going to be forever changed.
The curious case of the Clippers continues to riddle the NBA. Los Angeles has been beset with injuries, controversy, and rumors. Namely those associated with their franchise face, Blake Griffin.
In the three pieces of text, “The Leap,” “The Contents of a Deadman’s pocket,” “The Sniper,” the three stories all have similar but contrasting literary elements. Setting, Theme, Characters, and conflicts. As you read you will learn of the 4 literary elements.
I asked for fit, strong, mighty fighters, not pathetic little girls! Now, come on and follow me!” They continued their long 649 steps up the Eiffel Tower to save the General, who is under custody. “What's our mission lads?!” Sargent Mitty yelled to his men, “To save our General!” They all yelled in unison. “What's our mission?!” “To save our General!” They picked up the pace with a little more enthusiasm. That's more like it, he thought. They endured the rest of the tedious walk before they reached the top floor were the General was. They were right outside the door now. “Okay lads, remember the plan; the opposition are going to be right behind this door, and we want to surprise them. If we do this, we will have two advantages: The advantage of numbers and the element of surprise.” “But what if they are aware of our intentions?” Asked a soldier. “There are more of you then there are of them, so wipe 'em out.” They all looked around at each other nervously. Sergent Mitty sensed their uneasiness and said, “Come on lads, lift your heads! We got a job that needs to get that won't get done by itself! This is our time, our moment, and nothing is going to stop us now!” “Yea!” The squad yelled, and they burst open the
Then over the COMMS (a radio known as a PRC148) I hear, ‘Hey! We have guys in a burning in the trucks [MAT-V] at the god damn tents [Using my nickname DC or DOC COUNTRY], my TL, (who we will call STRETCH in this story), said, ‘Hey DC, we got to roll! So we get Oscar mike, and it’s just us two, a couple hundred rounds of ammo, medical bags, and two Toyota pickup trucks. It wasn’t very far away, maybe a 3-minute drive.
