Labels always get the attention of people there are always selected words so it would persuade people to buy it. The word “diet” is among these labels but they don’t really lie they just don’t tell the whole truth what the word diet does is get people to think that it is the drink they need because they love to drink soda. They have even come up with other kinds of soda for example Coca-Cola who makes a lot of the drinks we know came up with soda like Coca-cola zero, life, and light and they either have no calories, fewer calories or they actually use cane sugar. People who sell vegetables also use labels on their food like organic and in an essay they asked consumers who can barely afford to buy vegetables what the word organic meant to them …show more content…
Yes, diet soda has no or fewer calories than a regular soda does but water has way more less calories then diet soda. People drink soda because it is sweet and cheap and with diet soda they drink a lot of it that they might as well settle with drinking a regular soda at least better than a diet soda that is much worse than you can imagine. Diet soda still has sugar or corn syrup to sweeten the soda and it doesn’t matter with one is in the soda because they are both unhealthy and soda companies will just comply to stop your complaining they are not really improving the drink just putting your mind to ease about what is in the soda they sell. “Regular and Diet Coke have the same ingredients save for the type of sweeteners used in their production. This difference came about as the result of the demand for a soft drink that is less fattening and which can be consumed by people with diabetes.” (DifferenceBetween). Online there was this video that some people made in Japan and they were asking if people would buy Diet water and everyone who were asked just flat out said no. The idea of buying a drink that is pretty much the same thing is rather foolish but yet there are people who buy diet …show more content…
It seems like that is not a big deal because it is just soda and every business wants to flourish it is how most business owners feel. Small businesses are able to get away with much because of the lack of power so they can barely make a commercial with big businesses like Coca-Cola they can afford a team to make ads and they can afford any kind of teams to help them out if it will help their profits. An interview with nutrition scholar Marion Nestle stated in her book that big soda makes a similar move that tobacco companies have done. “The first thing [the industry] did was to attack the science. That's what the cigarette industry did, and that's what the producer of any unhealthful product does. You cast doubt on the science, and then you pay for your own science. You fund investigators who you are pretty sure are going to produce research that will show that your product isn't harmful. And that's exactly what the soda industry has done.” (Barclay). Referring to this quote and the first quote can people who drink soda say for sure that they know what is in the things they
This is a financial comparison between Pepsi and Coca Cola in terms of company liquidity, solvency, asset management, profitability, and valuation between the years 2008 and 2009 respectively.
There is a "54.5% greater risk of obesity for those who drink one to two cans of diet soda each day, in comparison with 32.8% percent for those who drink the same amount of regular soda" (Avery). Many people believe that if you are going to choose between diet soda and regular soda, diet soda is the no-brainer choice. Seeing the word "diet" on anything automatically makes you think—this must be healthy. The problem is that manufacturers like to mislead consumers into thinking that their "diet" product is a healthier version of their original. When really, they are just adding chemicals to make the nutrition label look healthier. Diet soda is worse than regular soda because it causes many physical and psychological problems.
Those who oppose diet pop would argue that they are bitter, bland, or “taste like water,” yet consistent diet drinkers completely disagree. Even if diet drinkers agree with other’s thoughts about the taste, they certainly feel that those small issues are worth the added benefits that diet pop brings. Such as the whole “diet” aspect of the soft drink, no sugar or calories, or the lower acidity of the drink, which saves their teeth. Diet pop is truly the best option for the everyday pop drinker both to trim the pounds and stay healthier, all while enjoying the sweet, carbonated beverage.
As Americans we should have a choice on what we drink and put into our bodies and not be told by lawmakers what to do.
We’ve come to a conclusion soda and sugary drinks are a pernicious disease. “Welcome to the Coke Side of Life” “Red Bull Gives You Wings” “Six Million a Day” those are just three of the thousands of slogans these billion dollar companies use to lore you into your casket a little earlier than expected. It is true that “Fully 42% of the annual $142 billion in health-care costs attributable to obesity are paid with public funds through Medicare and Medicaid, and obesity is but one disease affected by poor diet”. A person who consumes one can of soda a day is 26% likely to have type 2 diabetes and 20% likely of a heart attack, the overall good to be gained is by adding taxes on sugary drinks less people who buy them then the obesity rate will
Diet Coke is just as harmful as regular coke, maybe even more. Diet Coke provides no nourishment and would replace a more nutritious drink that you could have drunk while potentially depleting your body of essential minerals. Regular Coke can trigger insulin, which sends the body into fat storage mode. Drinking these kind of beverages will probably make you hungry and thirsty even more. Either way if Diet Coke is better than regular Coke it is bad because there is still a lot of sugar and fat. Kids that are under age shouldn't drink these because they will probably get high blood pressure or diabetes. Other people would think the same thing because none of the drinks are not healthy or good for your body to drink. This is important
The soda industry today has more than twice of the amount of water advertisements people see on television or on the internet today. This for a matter of fact is not a healthy thing to do for children and young adults are taken accountable for seeing these advertisements on air. This is basically telling children it is okay to become a sugar addict. This is why society sees plenty of children under obesity, diabetes and heart diseases. Because we are telling the biggest lie to the people is that
The Diet-Soda Myth While we’re on the topic of getting fat from sodas, let’s dispel a myth right now which is that diet sodas are a healthier alternative. On the contrary, even diet soda can pack on the pounds. In fact,
You would never believe the impact soft drinks have on your body. Something as simple as a thirst quencher can impact society the way a soda does. Did you know that two out of three adults and one out of three children in the U.S. are overweight according to a Harvard study completed in 2012. Sugary drinks increase the risk of obesity, diabetes, and heart disease by at least 25% according to the Institute of Medicine. (Institute of Medicine)
According to Kim, Hyuksoo, Yangsun, Jungsun, and Ki-Young,(2016,201-210) most people understand that consumption of sodas is not good for their health. The rate of soda consumption has been decreasing over the years though younger adults have been consuming more sodas than the older adults. Questions have been posed if the science opposing soda has solid findings as those of smoking. Despite the fact that soda has the potential of causing diabetes type 2 relative to those who do not drink soda, is that supposed to mean that the determining factor is soda or is there a possibility of confounding factors that influence a person to drinking soda and diabetes? Reasons for declining the warning labels on soda outweigh those of posting the warning sign.
When I first started high school I joined my school’s dance team. I would train vigorously in order to perform and compete with the team, now this training resulted in following a strict diet. I could only have a certain amount of calories daily in order to move my body with ease. The thing was I have always struggled with keeping diets. I have too big of a sweet tooth, therefore keeping up with the healthy eating was tough. The one thing I could not give up was diet coke or any diet soda to be exact, its not particularly that I loved the taste its just that I wanted to drink the carbonated beverage without having to worry about the calories. This lead to me drinking diet soda on a daily, thinking it would help my diet but in contrary it made
Soda companies will do anything to get their product to sell well which is why they come up with advertisements that has been establish. However, what are soda companies trying to hide from us that they have to hire scientist to prove that soda is safe to drink? If it is out and available to the public it should be already safe to drink. Well a study was done to see a comparison between those who drink soda and those who do not Grace Wyshak who is a professor in the department of biostatistics and population and international health at the Havard School of Public Health states “Physically active girls who consume carbonated cola drinks are five times more likely to have bone fractures than active girls who do not drink soda…”. Also later results from the study on 460
Diet Coke is just as harmful as regular Coke, maybe even more. For example, the Diet Coke depletes nutrients and make you more hungry and thirsty to have more. In the info graphic created by “TheRenegadePharmacist.com” it states,”It will never quench your thirst as it dehydrates rather than hydrates your body.” The quote relates to the topic because when it dehydrates you, it makes you want to get more so you can become hydrated but you only get dehydrated from drinking it
Since EVA is positive for both proposals, the division 's current EVA would improve by $542,000 and therefore both proposals would be accepted. The decision is also in the best interest of the company.
