M-W 11-11:50 I come from a small town and finding the same talented athletic team for a consecutive four years doesn’t come around all to often. My softball team has been in the state championship game for the past 4 years, placing 1st twice, and 2nd twice. Playing in such an important game requires a lot of teamwork, dedication, and talent. My last state championship game was a lot harder than the other years because the competition had improved dramatically, but somehow we managed to pull it off one last time. The explanations as to why we were successful go much deeper than the obvious reasons everyone can see. The surrounding environment, genetic differences, and personality traits all play a big role in the outcome of an

It suggests that one would be successful because they had the right personality to do well in a certain environment. In any given competition you have to have the right personality and attitude, otherwise you would give up. In softball you have to be focused, committed, willing to work as hard and as long as it takes, and you have to be okay with sometimes failing in order to succeed later. I believe that I was successful in doing my part for the team because I put all my heart and effort into everything we did, big or small. If I didn’t have a “go hard or go home” personality I would have given up when something got tough or didn’t go my way, I would have let my team down. We wouldn’t have gotten to where we were on the day of the state championship game. I believe that you have to do something whole hearted with 110% dedication if you want to succeed in some of the biggest events of your …show more content…
Sociology can focus on just one surrounding as in a workplace environment; or, it can focus on the whole society itself. In softball, the environment around you is constantly changing; it can make or break a team. You have the weather, the teams, and the crowd. The weather is a prime factor for the success or failure of a team. In a cold and rainy state your going to the numb to the bone and that ball is going to sting like a bee when it hits your glove; but, in a hot and humid state, you have to worry about staying hydrated and keeping your hands dry so the ball doesn’t slip right out of your sweaty hands. In the state championship game the weather was unbelievably perfect so we got to put all of our focus into the game. The tensions were high between both teams because we were both fighting for something that meant so much to us. When the tensions are high a lot of people tend to get nervous and make silly errors that wouldn’t normally happen. Luckily for us, our team and coaches kept us calm and gave us the reassurance we needed to succeed. Then there’s the crowd. If it wasn’t for the amazing crowd we had we wouldn’t have been as successful as we were. The unconditional support and love from the crowd gave us the motivation and ability to keep pushing until we reached the
In his autobiography Life Lessons from Little League, Vincent Fortanasce says “Winning is never final, and losing is never fatal.” At the end of a game, one team will win and the other will lose. Failure to accept this concept has become detrimental to American youth sports organizations. Our society has become infatuated with winning, and all of the additional perks associated with it. What is considered the “best” for children as young as five years old has grown to an unrealistic extent. Parents want their children to be in a reputable organization, young athletes want to play with highly skilled teammates, and coaches want to recruit talented players all in hopes of being the absolute “best”. The amount of young athletes, ranging from five to fourteen years old, participating in local sports organizations has declined within the last two decades due to the highly competitive and unhealthy environments they are being exposed to.Taking pride in your local community has decreased form an athletic point of view. Representing the place I grew up in was a motivating factor when I put my uniform on for every single softball game I played in high school. I had the privilege to play on the field next to girls I had grown to love the sport with ever since our tee ball days. Today, young athletes are branching out from their homegrown roots to play for club teams who recruit players from a larger region. The popularity of traveling teams has substantially diluted the
Softball is a growing sport for girls within the United States. Whether you are an 8-year-old girl, to a senior in college softball, it’s a sport that many are attached too. A new form of hitting came into play during the 2005 Women’s College Series. Slap hitting is a new form of hitting that changed the way the game of fast-pitch softball is being played. Slapping changed the way coaches and players think about how they are going to field a slap hitter. This form of hitting is becoming a major role within fast-pitch softball. When I got the opportunity to learn how to slap hit I was excited to gain this ability. With practice, patience and determination, I began to learn the hitting style that I use today.
Softball is a sport that is known throughout the United States and the world. Softball originated on Thanksgiving Day in Chicago in 1887. The game was actually said to have begun as an indoor game. Softball was started by a group of men who had gathered at a club to watch the Harvard vs. Yale football game. When the news came that Yale had defeated Harvard, 17-8, one Yale supporter, overcome with enthusiasm, picked up an old boxing glove and threw it at a nearby Harvard alumni, who promptly tried to hit it back with a stick. This gave George Hancock, a reporter for the Chicago Board of Trade, an idea. He suggested a game of indoor baseball. Naturally, Hancock's friends thought he was talking about playing a game outdoors, not indoors.
The day of my last softball game was the most terrifying day of my life. I have been playing softball for my whole life, Usually your last game is bittersweet and sad, mine was the complete opposite. One reason why the day of last softball game was absolutely horrid, was because it was the championship game and the whole game the score was back and forth, neither team could keep the lead.Another reason the day of my last softball game was extremly scary is because my dad who is the coach, randomly disappeared as well as my mother. The assistant coach came up in between innings and told the team that he would be taking over because my dad did not feel well. Next thing i noticed both my parents were gone, and i heard the fire truck and ambulance

There are three diverse ways a baseball player can approach a season in school. You can do it for the draft, trusting you can swing baseball to a profession. You improve the situation the adoration for the diversion, and simply thank god for another chance to play the amusement you cherish. At that point, there are the ones who do it with the expectation of complimentary training. You can be every one of the three, however, most folks are extremely one dimensional with regards to this approach. When you go to the locker space for training and you simply envision what every one of your colleagues does, you truly discover an alternate everyone is from each other. Be that as it may, on the off chance that you separate them into these three classes, it won't take you long to do as such.

Life on a Softball Team Hailey Burr Payson High School / A1 Life on a Softball Team Starting in a new sports community is always scary. Sports have always just come natural to me, but joining a new community was still terrifying to me. I had a decision to make in seventh grade, to stay in city league until high school or join accelerated softball. This decision was not a hard one at all. My friends and I got together and talked about joining accelerated softball.
“Not everyone is going to see or accept you for who you are, and you have to accept that.” I was told this quote everyday by my mother. Today was no different, walking up to the raked field, quote on my mind , eyes on the fresh red clay, and the sound of my metal cleats against the concrete. I was ready for this day. After months of hard work from November to February , the tryouts for Central softball team were over. Over the span of four months, I pushed myself harder than I ever thought I could, but what I did never seemed to be enough for the team.
