Conflict In the novel “Something Wicked This Way Comes”, by Ray Bradbury, there are internal and external conflicts involving the character Mr.Dark. Evidence of external conflict can be seen in "you can't hurt me!", "he pressed the boy, almost lovingly close" and "’murder!’ Wailed the boy." (Bradbury,274) This shows Mr.Dark's external conflict with Charles Halloway as he fights him to save his carnival. The author does this by creating a scene where Mr.Dark's plan to keep the carnival safe will abruptly fall apart at the hands of Charles Halloway by his crushing, almost caring embrace. The author does this to show that Mr.Dark has a sick twisted love for his carnival and taking victim's souls and will do anything to protect it. Not only does
In the novel The Devil in the White City, Author Erik Larson uses imagery, irony, and juxtaposition to parallel the good and evil sides of the city of Chicago during the 1893 World’s Fair. Larson takes a more upbeat, joyous tone while following the story of Burnham and the architects designing the World Fair, but the tone turns much darker when perspectives change and we follow the plot of H.H. Holmes, America’s first known serial killer. Using rhetorical devices like imagery, diction, and syntax, Larson is able to paint a picture of Chicago from both the good and evil side, setting a more serious and ominous tone for the novel.

The problem of evil is the notion that, how can an all-good, all-powerful, all-loving God exists when evil seems to exist also. The problem of evil also gives way to the notion that if hell exists then God must be evil for sending anyone there. I believe both of these ideas that God can exist while there is evil and God is not evil for sending anyone to hell. I believe hell exists in light of the idea that God is holy and just. The larger is how anyone can go to heaven. I will try to answer the problem of evil with regards to the problem of heaven and hell.
Cut his throat! Spill his blood" P.138).In particular the evil of the character is also present in the towns people when they brutally stone Tess out of tradition. (" ‘It isn’t fair’ she said. A stone hit her on the side of the head."P.301). To further illustrate the characters evil Tucker shows his transition into a dangerous killer after constant torment. ("I was lying there with a towering homicidal detestation, planning to kill Anvil."P.34). Also when Mike lynches the black man he is now getting a positive feeling from his crime. ("Makes you feel kind of cut off and tired, but kind of satisfied too"P.140). The inherent evil of man and society portrayed through the characters are present in these examples and shows how evil isn’t always visible.

Good and evil thrive off of each other in many ways. Good outcomes have ones as a side effect, and where evil is found, so is good. There are infinitely many examples of this throughout history and the world, many of which are in Joseph Conrad’s Heart of Darkness. Conrad contrasts good and evil throughout Heart of Darkness, the line between them blurring because of how intertwined they are.
Firstly, there will always be a fight between good and evil; this is shown many times throughout Wicked by Gregory Maguire. Wicked is about Elphaba better known as the Wicked Witch of
Teachers gathering up to protest against the Kent School District that then creates a strike. School days are getting canceled and a major issue arises. Conflicts are happening everywhere in the world, and most of them are things that happen over and over again, therefore history does repeat itself in regards to conflict. Different rulers (or people) from different time periods may have the same reasoning and opinions so they handle conflicts the same way, same types of conflicts which involve country fighting a country happen all across the world no matter the time period and people all over the world have went against the government. All of these things support why history does repeat itself when talking about conflict.
