Corporal punishment, spanking whooping, or popping is a physical punishment inflicted by an adult to the body of a child ranging in severity from a hit with a belt to a spanking with bare hand on the butt. Corporal punishments on children has been a permanent form of discipline, and has been a heated discussion among parents, practitioners, and scientists for decades. some people believe that corporal punishment techniques are bad for children seems to think that corporal punishment on kids should be illegal, and causes risk of mental health problems. Spanking or inflicting a child may cause aggression in children. Spanking at the ages 10 months and 5 years is common in 70% of American family’s although according some researchers that corporal punishment can affect the ability to function and acceptance of values. Spanking at an early age can do more harm than good. Studies show that children who gets spanked are more likely to get violent in adult hood. Most children develop between the age of 3 months and 5 years old if corporal punishment action is used it can make the child less aware and can cause problem in education for teachers and authority. It states in an article I researched they are discussing the ethical aspect on corporal punishment on children. Emotionally there is different views on corporal punishment based on race, religions, and ethical feelings. Families who are less fortunate than other use corporal punishment to try and gain control of their children.
