Land of the Free
There are many American Holidays that celebrate the accomplishments of our citizens though out our short history. July 4th, 1776 is perhaps the most significant and widely celebrated holiday. The Fourth of July marks our independence and legal separation from Great Britain. July 4th, or Independence Day is the celebration of the United States of America’s birth. Today, the Fourth of July is one of the few things American Citizens can celebrate together. Independence day is commonly known for western themed barbeques, parades, fireworks, and other patriotic acts. In the Nineteenth Century, The Fourth of July not only encouraged patriotism and unified American Citizens, but it also created a national platform for different groups to communicate their opinions on concerns and general issues of our country. Most Americans respect and appreciate what Independence Day has given its citizens. Freedom and equality have come to be the greatest of rights for American Citizens. However, America was once struggling to find a national identity. The late 1800’s proved to be a challenging time for the US government. With frequent political scandals, increased violence in the South, a struggling economy, Women’s Suffrage, and the controversial treatment of African Americans had many citizens questioning the values of the country. Many felt unequal to other citizens and therefore did not agree with the changing times in the United States. Americans began to loose the

It is the forth of July, Independence day, the day Americans put all of their worries to the side to celebrate the freedom of the country that they live in, America. Those who live in the USA may experience more freedom and comfort then those who live in other parts of the world. America is highly praised for their education, diverse crowds, and socially accepting everyone despite their race, religion, or special needs.
The Declaration of Independence Each year in the United States of America, Americans honor and celebrate the courageous actions that our nation's founders took on July 4, 1776. In the late 1700’s, the British Parliament passed a number of laws that severely limited the freedoms of English colonists in America. According to the Library of Congress’ official website, “On July 4, 1776, the Second Continental Congress, meeting in Philadelphia in the Pennsylvania State House, approved the Declaration of Independence, severing the colonies' ties to the British Crown” (Loc.gov). Throughout our Nation's history, Americans
After reading the transcript of the speech, “The Spirit of Liberty”, given by federal judge for more than 50 years, Learned Hand, who served most of the time on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit in New York, my idea of what it means to be an American was slightly shifted. The statement made by Hand which really caught my attention was, “What do we mean when we say that first of all we seek liberty? I often wonder whether we do not rest our hopes too much upon constitutions, upon laws and upon courts. These are false hopes.” I agree with Hand in the sense that the constitution can only serve purpose to our country if we, as Americans, learn to be truly accepting.
Every person is well aware of July 4, 1776 as the day of celebrating Independence Day in the Unites States due to the Revolutionary War separating us from Britain; however is that the war that really push towards this country’s freedom? From our removal of abuse from Britain to the casualties and warfare struggles we know of to acknowledge our forming of this nation, the United States has built itself up a nation unlike any other in the world. Our history from start to finish has been very challenging for earning independence within such a span of time, but so few people in the United States know very little of the war that came after the well-known first Revolutionary War which emerged as a brink point of a setback to making the new nation. Although the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812 both involved fighting for

Independence Day is celebrated annually on the fourth of July. Americans pride themselves in being connoisseurs of liberty and all that it entails. However, this nation has not always been that way. There was a time when freedom was restricted to those of a particular race; that race being white. If an individual was blessed enough to live in America prior to the Civil War, they were free, assuming the coloring of their skin was fair. After the Civil War, the definition of “freedom” had to be reevaluated, and it came at a time of reconstruction. President Johnson and a Radical Republican Congress had very different opinions on how freedom was defined.

The nineteenth century is considered to be full of achievements, development, and liberty. In the eyes of the American people, they focused on their Independence and liberty, and equality between all the people in the society. Every year on July 4, people celebrate the Declaration of Independence, and that day became a symbol for liberty, justice and equality. Despite all of that, there were still some people who had not felt the freedom and couldn’t understand the meaning of the independence because no change happened to their life after that day, they were slaves and they will remain slaves after July 4th.
Independence Day or more commonly known as the Fourth of July is the day where Americans show their pride of being an American more than any other day. Across America, families gather together to sit and enjoy each other's company as well as good food. Stories are told of past events or current ones important or not, to one another while drinking a beer or watching a game. Generations of family members get the opportunity to be in one place at one time, grandparents and their children along with their grandchildren almost like a reunion of sorts. After the day is out it ends with a bang as fireworks light up the sky with vibrant colors. The Fourth of July is such a beautiful day for Americans as it's a day of unity of family and nation, but for myself, it's a day where I feel no such freedom only the stark opposite.
Fourth of July is considered to be the day when the whole of America celebrates the freedom. It was when Dr. Frederick Douglass was invited to give a talk by the Rochester Ladies’ Anti - Slavery Society to celebrate freedom of America. It was an
The First Amendment of the Constitution protects individuals freedom of speech. Many people think they have the right to express whatever they want, which most of the time it is true, but sometimes it does have consequences even though it's not illegal.
On Independence Day we commemorate the birth of America as a free nation. But even more than that, we commemorate the birth of Americans as free men. At a single stroke, the Declaration of Independence and its ideas set America free from England, and set Americans free from their own government. The Founding Fathers instituted America's government to protect the freedom of its citizens, and to secure their rights to "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness."
Hi my name is Donte and I want to tell everyone here how important Rights and Responsibilities we have as Americans of U.S. We as Americans should vote and participate in community services these are some of the Strong Responsibilities that we don't take advantage of. The Rights that we all must know about
The society that we are living in today enjoys many privileges. However, the privileges that we have now are definitely not something that anyone can earn easily because it requires several centuries of hard work and effort. This is a famous phrase that helps remind our nation of the sacrifice, dedication, and hard work that our brave soldiers had put in in order to preserve our rights and happiness. The phrase "freedom isn't free" applies to our everyday lives. We are allowed to live the way we choose without being subjected to any restricted freedom. Everything that we have now such as freedom to express our opinion, worship our own religion, arm ourselves, and live independent lives definitely remind us of everything that our founder fathers and our brave soldiers had done for us. We are able to freely desire the things that we want, choose our own path and career, and become active citizens in politic since we are entitled to the right of freedom of speech. Without their contribution and dedication to our country, we would not have everything that we have had today. There would be no Bill of Rights, Declaration of Independence, president, and the government that protects people's rights, and thus, we would be forced to follow everything that our Mother England tells us to do and live misery lives under their demands and oppression. Therefore, the hard work and sacrifice from our courageous soldiers are something that we definitely must honor and respect.
