Hello, this is an E-book made by the group Destined for Greatness (D4G), we are a group of Madden players that spend our time to bring you the best possible content to help you win more and do better in the game of Madden. In this intro we will be going over some of the important things to keep in mind when blitzing your opponent and playing defense in general. First, we must understand that the whole goal of blitzing is to produce pressure on the QB so that you either get a sack, force a bad throw, or take receiving options out by forcing the offense to add blockers. It is important to recognize that when you are blitzing you could potential risk coverage, but blitzing effectively, can fluster your opponent’s offense, making them make bad …show more content…
Blitzes can bring a whole new dimension to a player’s game. But just as important as blitzes you need to be able to back that blitz up with good coverage/run defense to make your opponent have to think more. Included in this E-book we have a run and coverage defensive setups. To go along with this, you should not blitz every play of the game, as a good opponent will start to pick up the blitz, making it useless. The final and most important thing to understand when playing defense in madden, is that you are the smartest player on the field. That means that you should not be a “D-line user” and instead user a linebacker or safety. By usering a Linebacker or safety you are able to take away routes that your opponent likes to target. “You are as good as your …show more content…
When you are usering a linebacker (I prefer usering a linebacker over usering the safety), you will need a fast and agile linebacker. Some good ones are Anthony Barr and Ryan Shazier. The first thing you are going to have to do is to read your defense as if you were the QB. I like to play under routes over the middle, as they are what most people like to look for when passing the ball. I look for ins, slants, posts, seam routes, drags, etc. You'll get a feel for how the routes break and how you should break on them. By playing more and more you are going to start picking up and learning formations and plays that people like to run. For example, if a guy comes out in Gun Trips (Four Verticals) (3WR, 1TE, 1 RB) and you see 3 WR running streaks and the running back going on a route that crosses across the field, you can most likely expect your opponent to look deep slant route across the middle of the field. This play is a great example of why it is so important to user when playing Defense due to the play being so very commonly used and being very effective when ran against the CPU
Balance is a main priority on the offensive line to ensure that you do not get knocked back into your quarterback. On offense, you want your legs to be the strongest part of your body, because they do the majority of the work (Gerard). On the defensive side, it is more beneficial to have speed with more upper body strength because they use their arms and hands much more (Gerard). Although it is more beneficial to have more strength in certain areas for both positions, it is very important to be physically strong throughout your entire body on both offense and defense because it is a very tough and physical
In tackle football there is a lot of physicalness. Tackling is what people go to to see, that is the most physical contact in the game. The linemen are the people where the ball is they defend or attack. There is always something amusing happening in tackle football either a fight of a really great tackle made by a player. Defense is the best side you’re the one reading the play and you’re the
Football is one of America’s favorite sports. It originated from soccer and rugby. This kind of sport is very competitive. The main point of the game is to score points by carrying the ball from a starting point to a 100-yard long by 53-yard wide field into a marked zone. Each team has a Y-shaped structured called the field goal the players. The game is divided into timing sections ranging from 12 to 15 minutes quarters. Often times, the players become violent during the game. This happens when they have to tackle each other for the ball. During this tackling period, players injured, but like anything in life it possesses risks known to the athletes before signing a contract with the NFL’s (National Football League) owner.
Make sure your helmet and protective gear fit properly and are well maintained and always buckle the chin strap on your helmet. Tackling Its all in the technique It’s important to learn the proper way to take someone down when playing football. Always use the head up technique when tackling when making a hit you should never lower your head. The head should never be the main point of contact.Make sure your coach is training you the correct way on how to do things in the sport of football.
Most of what football players and coaches know about tackling is more instinctive than anything. They understand more about the physics of the process more than they realize. Acceleration, force, mass, momentum, Inertia, torque, velocity, and center of mass are important terms that become relevant when discussing the physics of tackling in football. Acceleration is the rate of change of velocity in a certain period of time. Force in football can be described as the influence on a body that causes it to accelerate. The amount of substance an object is made up of is the mass. Momentum comes as the result of the product of the mass of a moving object and its velocity. Inertia is the resistance of a moving object to a change in speed or direction, and also the resistance of a stationary object to being moved. Torque
We start our season by teaching how to tackle properly, in a controlled, slow setting. We begin by putting kids in the correct “fit” position, where contact is already made. This coincides with many of the ideas Coach Lewis hit on in the video. We put them in a position with good bend in the hips, knees, and ankles, eyes on the football, and arms in the cocked position, ready to explode. Their shoulder pad is already in contact with the ball carrier. On the command, the tackler will explode with his arms under the arm pits of the ball carrier, grabbing cloth in the back, rolling his hips and driving through. After the initial explosion, the tackler will keep his feet moving, running through the ball carrier. We practice this drill until we are comfortable that everyone on our team has the correct fit position. Every coach is walking around during this drill, critiquing each player, getting them in the correct position. Once we are comfortable that our players know what a proper fit position is, we will then proceed to the drill we do every day. It is called “box tackle”. This drill takes our “fit” drill one step further. Our players will now shuffle two steps with good bend in the knees, hips, and ankles. They will then make contact with the ball carrier in a good fit

Football is game of speed, strength, and strategy. The best way to be a better player is working on becoming bigger and stronger while maintaining the speed, but when the players mass, strength, and speed all get better the forces the can produce a greater force with their hits. According to Timothy Gay, Physics professor at the University of Nebraska and author of The Physics of Football, a Defensive Back at the average one-hundred and ninety pounds that runs a 4.56 forty-yard dash can produce sixteen-hundred pounds of tackling force, which easily can break any bone of the human body. Due to the extreme forces the players are exposed to, it is necessary for each player to wear pads that help reduce and spread out the forces, and helmets
“To be the best you got to beat the best; therefore I am the best cause I’ve beaten the rest” (Barry Sanders). The game of football only requires 22 men, but only one man can be the running back. The running back position is considered the most prestigious of the game. To be a great running back in the N.F.L. you must possess certain qualities such as: speed, strength, agility, field vision, quick feet, and good stamina. Barry Sanders, Walter Payton, and Marcus Allen all possess these qualities and are three of the best running backs the National Football League will ever see.
On defense, there are defensive linemen who aim to tackle, or “sack” the quarterback. Next, the linebackers serve as support by standing behind the linemen, they get their name by literally “backing the line.” Specifically, their job is to tackle the running back or quarterback if either one of them crosses the “line of scrimmage,” or the initial location of the ball, with the ball in hand. Furthermore, the defensive backs attempt to prevent the wide receivers from catching passes from the quarterback.
If he does not follow his blockers, he will have a much greater chance of getting tackled for a loss of yards. On a pass play, the quarterback relies on the offensive line to give him the time he needs to read the defense and put the ball where the wide receiver can catch it. If the offensive line does not block, then the quarterback will be sacked for a loss of yards, or he will make a bad decision and throw an interception, thus resulting in a loss of possession or, even worse, a pick six, which is a touchdown for the opposing team. If the offensive line does their jobs correctly, big plays are guaranteed to
For example Jon Butler, executive director of pop warner little scholars inc. says” Pop Warner is at the forefront of addressing player safety.” Also, coaches are teaching their players to tackle right. For example, more coaches than ever are telling their players to tackle with their shoulders not heads. USA football, the official youth league for NFL football, is dedicated to providing coaches with ways to make the sport safe for youth players. ”These include, concussion awareness, USA Football Tackle Progression Model, and proper levels of contact at practice.
To start off, conditioning and practicing is a necessary part of football. Conditioning is when you physically make your body stronger and more equipped for a sport. In the article “ How Dangerous is High School Football?”, it stated that “ ...because we observed high levels of ankle and knee injuries, we recommend increased conditioning of ankles and knees and rule changes aimed on protecting these vulnerable body sites.” This sentence from the article is a prime example on how football is safe because they are helping the vulnerable and weaker parts of your body stay protected, which in doing so helps prevent injuries. This shows how they are not only tackling big issues, but small issues as well. Not only is conditioning a big role in football, practice is also required for the game. Practicing helps players learn the game of football in a safe way. According to the article “Hard Knocks”, “... one recent study found out
In order to truly appreciate the overall beneficial influence football has had on American culture between the 1890’s and 1930’s, we cannot turn a blind eye to the negative obstacles football has overcome. In the early years of development, football was played similarly to rugby and universities played by different rules, making standardization within the sport a difficult task to accomplish. One of the major problems observed during the infancy of football was the sheer violence witnessed on the field. Mass play was the common play style during the first years of football in which the entire offensive force would focus on one spot of the defense; the offense was determined to go through the defense rather than go around them. The raw power behind these plays lead to serious injuries as well as the death of a player in the early 1900’s. This disastrous event deterred numerous universities from playing football out of fear of a repeat of events. Following more serious injuries
