Turgut suggests for the United States to redefine success in a broader manner. Currently, the way success defined by the US is depicted as “rigid, narrow, and uniform” (Turgut, 2013, p. 68). This type of measurement for assessing students does not fit the culture of the States. The nation before NCLB, Goals 2000, and Common Core have contradicted the traditional educational culture based on respect and embracing diversity, culture, and talents (Turgut 2013). Thus, far policy makers have advocated for education reform that has opposed what the culture and traditions of education have been for years.
