Ever since the release of its first film in 1977, Star Wars stands as one of the most important works in cinema history and has been a significant part of pop culture. At the time when Disney bought Lucasfilm, fans were delighted to hear the announcement of a new Star Wars trilogy. The first film of the new trilogy titled Star Wars: The Force Awakens was released in 2015 and left fans with many unanswered questions, especially about the true identity of a major antagonist. Being known only as Snoke, the film reveals him as the supreme leader of a military faction called the First Order. With little screen time and appearing only as a hologram, the true identity of Snoke is shrouded in mystery. There have been many theories regarding who he could really be. A popular theory I strongly support is that Snoke is the former master of Emperor Palpatine, the antagonist from the previous trilogies. As revealed in Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, Palpatine’s master was known as Darth Plagueis. Plagueis was a Sith Lord who had the uncanny ability to use the force to create life and bring people back from the dead but was eventually betrayed and killed by Palpatine. Snoke is Plagueis because Snoke appears disfigured, he could return in the …show more content…
Due to how powerful Plagueis was, Palpatine didn’t want to face him in a duel and chose to attack him in his sleep. Snoke’s deep scars and deformity must have been a result of Palpatine’s sneak attack. Palpatine must have used everything at his disposal and attacked with sheer ferocity to succeed at killing Plagueis. Palpatine must have used his signature force lightning at full power and struck him down with his lightsaber, leaving him dead and severely disfigured. Plagueis was known for cheating death; therefore, he must have found a way to revive himself. Snoke’s damaged body seems to be someone who is in the process of bringing himself back from the
The Force Awakens is the newest episode of Star Wars that has been released in theatres, and takes place many years after the fall of the Galactic Empire. The Resistance, the new Rebel Alliance, now faces a new threat, the First Order. In the hopes of defeating this threat, they look to Luke Skywalker, who’s whereabouts are unknown. Rey, the capable and independent protagonist, rescues a BB-8 unit and discovers it holds the missing piece of the map that leads to Luke. Together, along with Finn, Han Solo, and Chewbacca, they must find a way to deliver the piece of the map to The Resistance and stop the First Order’s plans of annihilation.
The name Darth Plagueis is not as well known in the Star Wars community, and yet he is quite important to the Emperor’s rise. The first time he is mentioned is in Revenge of the Sith by his apprentice, Palpatine. He speaks to Anakin of how Plagueis’s life was tragic; he could manipulate midiclorians to create life and that “he could save others, but not himself”. It is widely believed that Palpatine killed Plagueis after he learned enough from him. However, there is evidence to suggest that Plagueis did not die, but that he survived and poses as Snoke, the leader of the First Order.
With the record setting release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens the sci-fi franchise is the center of attention. No small talk begins without saying, Have you seen the new Star Wars?
Star Wars: A New Hope directed by George Lucas was produced in 1997 and has many examples of archetypal patterns. Joseph Campbell was an american mythologist and he believed in something called a monomyth or “a hero’s journey” which was a theory that all stories are fundamentally the same. Campbell believed that these patterns were found in all stories and wrote a story called “A Hero with a Thousand Faces” he talks about these types of archetypal patterns found in all stories. The idea of a heros stages of their journey and how the hero goes through stages of transformation. The movie Star Wars: A New Hope fits into Campbell’s archetypal pattern and in doing so provides a certain truth about being separated from Luke’s old life and being
Star Wars is series of the fantastic films that depict the political tensions and wars among the representatives of different planets in the distant galaxy. The films include a number of positive heroes and charismatic anti-heroes, such as Darth Vader (Anakin Skywalker) and Kylo Ren (Ben Solo). Both personages have a number of similarities and can be described as the typical Byronic characters. Highly ambitious Anakin Skywalker, who was expected to become a powerful Jedi, has joined the dark side and become a villain. Being inspired by the example of Darth Vader, the son of Han Solo and Leia Organa has decided to follow the path of his grandfather.

It’s a movie and text that everyone has heard of and that has also influenced their life in some way. A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away… there were two exceptional leaders by the name of Darth Vader, and Luke Skywalker. As many know, these two men are the leading antagonist and protagonist of the immensely popular franchise, Star Wars. For those that do not know, Darth Vader is the villain who leads a heinous army known as The Empire. Through methods of fear and intimidation, Vader fabricates a mega-weapon capable of destroying entire planets known as the Death Star. Luke Skywalker defies all odds as he uses the methods of stimulation and team building to try to lead the Rebels in an uprising against the tyrants. Each of these leaders is very successful in their own unique methods.
Princess Leia, leader of the Rebel Alliance has been kidnapped by Darth Vader, leader of the Imperial Force. She uses a droid named R2-D2 to send a message to Obi-Wan Kenobi. R2-D2, accompanied by C-3PO manages to land in the home of Luke Skywalker. Skywalker sees the message and sets out to find Kenobi. Kenobi explains that Darth Vader was his student and he turned to the dark side and killed Luke’s father. Obi-Wan and Luke go to Alderaan, Leia’s home planet, where Luke learns the way of the force. Han Solo, captain of the Millennium Falcon, takes the duo to Alderaan. When they get there, they discover that Alderaan has been destroyed. The Falcon is captured by the Death Star and that is when Luke finds out that Princess Leia is onboard. Luke, Han, and Obi-Wan manage to return to the Falcon where Obi-Wan gets killed. The Rebels analyze the Death Star’s plans and Luke helps them with the attack runs. After many unsuccessful runs and casualties, Han Solo destroys the Death Star. Han Solo and Luke Skywalker get awarded medals of
Star Wars was originally released in 1977 and became one of the largest grossing films of all time. George Lucas developed two additional sequels and a prequel that developed the extremely successful franchise. The first film Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope placed the viewers into the middle of a civil war between The Republic and The Empire. The story follows a young Jedi Knight (Luke Skywalker) and his journey to defeat (with a lot of help) The Empire. As the story progresses through the the next movie, more characters are introduced and Luke becomes closer and closer to completing his destiny of defeating the Empire. This is done through futuristic battles in space
The Phantom Menace wasn’t the Star Wars we all knew and loved. It was riddled with endless CGI, water-dwelling creatures that just wouldn’t shut up, and a little kid that you couldn’t help but want to perish in a pod racing accident. And, although the two sequels that follow, Attack of the Clones & Revenge of the Sith, gradually got better – it still didn’t change the fact that the Power of the Forced had been tainted and diminished.
The story begins thirty years after the events of Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi. The First Order has risen from the ashes of the Galactic Empire and is opposed by General Leia Organa and the Resistance, both of which seek to find the missing Jedi Master Luke Skywalker who had disappeared. In the hassle of this search, new heroes rise in the form of Rey, a Force-sensitive scavenger from Jakku Finn, a stormtrooper who defected from the First Order and Poe Dameron, the best pilot in the Resistance. They are helped by Han Solo in their search for Skywalker and their mission to destroy the First Order's new superweapon, Starkiller Base, which targets the New Republic and the Resistance for destruction.
