I choose to watch the breakfast club movie and relate it back to the stereotypes that are displayed throughout the movie. I am going to focus on several different things that I saw throughout the movie such as stereotypes, deviance, socialization, and family.
A stereotype is a label that is applied to a social group of people or an individual that represent a certain group or name. Deviance is not following normal standards that are socially accepted in society. The film also demonstrated different types of socialization which can be seen through how the kids were raised and as a result interact with others. This film shows many different sociological concepts and theories to the viewers.

There are several examples in the movie that shows his resistance to rules but one specific one is at the beginning of the movie when the teacher that is supposedly monitoring detention starts by saying “do not talk or move around” and as soon as this is said Nelson’s character moves around and starts talking. These groups are established by the way society perceives people based on what they wear, who they hang out with, and how they act. This is displayed in the movie greatly because each student associates with a different social group. The stereotype is very obvious when John Bender makes the comment about why Claire won’t join an academic club with the other kid. She then makes a comment like because it is an academic club and she doesn’t belong there.
Claire’s character is the “princess” because is the typical girl that is considered a “prom queen” or “it girl” in school that everyone knows. She dresses nice and wears makeup to appear as well put together. She also acts like she is too good for the other people.
John Bender’s character is the “criminal” who breaks all the rules and wants others to know that he is a troublemaker that is not afraid of getting in trouble. He dresses in a rebellious and tough look to fit with his
