Fame and fortune, a family and a stable job, a career that one is passionate about. These are just a few examples of The American Dream that so many people in society strive to attain. Achieving this dream is not easy and comedian Steve Harvey witnessed first-hand just how difficult it is. Harvey had the dream of becoming a comedian who makes people laugh and to be married, that was his American Dream. The separation put a rift between Harvey and his two daughters, Brandi and Karli. Harvey still gave a large portion of his funds to his ex-wife and children leaving him with $50 a week to live off of. On top of Harvey’s low income he was also living in his car or in cheap motels. In Alaska he hunted, explored and watched animals in the woods from an old abandoned bus. He enjoys the beauty of Alaska that was so breathtaking to him. He was isolated from his old life, from his family and from his friends, but Chris McCandless enjoys every minute of his American dream until the day he died.
Most believe that the American Dream is the perfect life, with a house and white picket fence. While this type of life may be an attainable plan, human nature causes us to always want more, so even with the “perfect” life, there is still always a goal left to be reached.
