I have always had the desire to travel the world. I am a very fortunate person because I get to travel places that people dream of going to. I am aware of how lucky I am, but the more I travel the more place I want to visit. The quote “Stop and Smell the Roses” is one that I live very closely to. We live in a bubble, so we get very little cultural experiences or a different adventure. Even if you go to places like New York City or Los Angeles, you experience many different lifestyles. Whether you go to Chinatown, Kensington or Fitzroy, you get to participate in various cultural exchanges. I love to take a lot of pictures, but I also prefer to remember my adventures from memories, not pictures. Photos are good for when you are trying to remember
Pete Seeger was an American singer, song writer, and activist. He used his music as a social commentary on what he witnessed during the 1960s. Throughout this time, Seeger popularized many influential songs, many of which became popular anthems for different movements, most notably “We Shall Overcome.” Seeger’s songs were normally protesting violence and war, as well as supporting the emerging counterculture and the environmental movement that was seen during the 1960s. With all his music writing, Pete Seeger influenced many other singer/song writers and left a lasting impression on the 60s.
Ever since I was little I’ve dreamed of experiencing different cultures and trying new things around the world. Some of the places at the top of my list include Paris, Rome, Venice, Spain, and London. I’ve looked at countless pictures of these places trying to feel what it would be like to be there, but I hope someday I will actually get to visit them. The cultures, the food, and the religions all seem so intriguing and on my deathbed I would love to say I’ve experienced as many of them as possible. Clearly, travelling the world and trying new adventures and cultures is at the top of my bucket list.
Over the course of writing and taking pictures for my photojournalism blog, I encountered many transitions within myself. These evolutions that had taken place at each place I visited helped, me think and obtain a new perspective. These miniature epiphanies came from the people and the scenery from the areas.
No matter one’s lifestyle, whether it’s sedentary or super energetic, it is a necessity to go and experience nature every once in a while, as everything else pales in comparison to nature. While on our trip, I experienced diversity, appreciation, a heightened sense of well-being, and perseverance all at the same time. I was glad that I forced myself to travel through nature, as I familiarized myself with the wild and felt more comfortable. To be honest, I used to be very active when it came to nature involvement. My family and I
Select several works of art that reflect cultural evolution and progress, and cultural regression and degeneration? It has been said that many forms of art, from poetry to music, contribute to the way we feel, think and see, and helps us to discover the hidden beauty of art. Oftentimes, art provides a historical connection to social and secular ideas. The messages in these ideas serve many purposes, whether it is rhetorically, visually or politically saying something about the way a particular artist feels or the issues the artist is trying to address. The focus of this brief paper is on the works of performance artists, theatrical artists and blackface minstrels and how their art helped draw attention to the inequities in America during their time period. Music- Considered Gaye's most unusual, yet successful album by critics, Gaye's album is generally thought of as his "rebellion"
In the story red roses the author is talking about how You should be nice to everybody even if they are not your friends. Why you need to be nice is so everybody will get along. You do not know what is going on in other people's lives. There life is important just like everybody else's. It might be because they are going through depression. Being a teenager can be hard things are changing even when you don’t know it. And there are a lot of people that want to hurt themselves and that is not good. And one of these people could be your friend. When you see someone getting bullied you need to tell someone. That is the least that you could do. Just knowing that you stopped someone from hurting themselves. How you can protect yourself from
Why do people travel? For some it is a way to escape the routine and mundanity that is common in several people’s lives. For others it is a way to gain new insight on places and cultures that some never knew existed. But taking a journey does not involve traveling afar, each and every human being is on journey known as life. Life is a long journey of self-discovery. As individuals, human beings are constantly seeking to determine who they are and where they belong in the world. Marcel Proust, a famous French novelist, once said “The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes.” The narrator in the “Cathedral” showed that by just changing his perspective he could travel to new worlds and gain insight into the lives of others.
Growing up as an adventurous little kid, I experienced a lot of things, discovered a lot of places and met a lot of people. Though these small adventures leaves a good memories, it also leaves a lot of painful departure, longing and regrets. Someone like me always search for a new places to go, befriend someone new and creates lot of memories. I cannot deny how these things badly affect me especially when I was younger but then I thought, this was the things I loved the most and I want to continue creating a lot more memories.
A rose is a rose is a rose. A rose by any other name would smell just as sweet. Love is like a wild-rose briar. Roses are known for their complex features: beauty with ferocious thorns. For this reason, love has come to be symbolized through a rose; a red, red rose. In Robert Frost’s poem “Asking for Roses,” the roses are a central symbol to understanding the themes of love and opportunity. The musicality of the poem employs stylistic choices which also contribute to the poet’s messages of the piece: Opportunities are there for the taking, but if you don’t rise to the occasion, nothing will be accomplished; and a relationship requires
The pure meaning of traveling is what you make of it. De Botton talks about having trouble finding happiness in familiar places. This becomes apparent to De Botton when he states, “The pleasure we derive from journeys is perhaps dependent more on the mindset with which we travel than on the destination we travel to” (Botton 61). We tend to gain excitement of traveling based on the places we go to and not the small details around us. Gaining more knowledge of this mindset, we could make much more out of even our local town. It is said that receptivity is the chief characteristics to a travelling mindset. Approaching new places with the idea of them being interesting we would be much more intrigued about the places we travel to. When talking about a travelling mindset De Botton states, “We approach new places with humility” (Botton 62). Every new place has a true meaning to it. It seems unimaginable that even places like our own bedroom could be fascinating. The most pivotal point De Botton reveals is to explore new places with a travelling mindset. Be more aware of each item around you rather than luxury of the place.
After working for 3 years, I was burnt out at work and wanted to rediscover myself and I could only think of travelling. But I always had this feeling that something is wrong. Neither I’d the money nor intention of wanderlust. I was just lost or maybe I want freedom of expression without being ending up in jail. I don’t know it yet. But one thing was sure and that was: I want to experience the world through the eyes of others. Living the lives of others or living with them provides you a window to enter their lives. I have always believed that travel breaks you free. My mind was conditioned to travel. I had changed almost a dozen schools by the time I completed my graduation. Oh boy!
Over the course of my short life, I have been to every imaginable world. Of course, these simply exist in my mind. My mind, that tends to wander off to more places than anyone has ever been to. Using my mind as an example I have decided that I want to break out and travel the world, as many people on this planet do for one simple reason. They believe that by getting lost it is possible to find yourself. Questioning this theory that many seem to have engraved into their mind, I went on an adventure this summer with my favorite person in the universe, my grandmother. We got lost, believe me when I say this, yet instead of finding myself, I left with even more questions. Prague, a small city on a big planet, seemed to have the greatest impact on the thoughts that wander inside my head.
He argues that people should treasure their home place and take necessary measures to improve its image (Emerson 44). Travelling presents the actual nature of other people’s creations and inhibits the traveler’s ability to come up with new designs. Emerson’s main argument in travel is that self-reliant people refrain from moving physically to historical sites. Instead, such people allow their minds to stray to such places and imagine how it could look like. In presenting this argument, Emerson insists that people should never be contented with the achievements of other people (43). He notes that such imagination equips the person with wisdom and knowledge to advance counter arguments about certain uplifted travel destinations. With such wisdom, the person not only proves to be self –reliant, but he also achieves recognition as different person with life-changing
Traveling around the world may be a dream for some, but for me I rather explore the world. I’ve been to many tourist spots, it a devastating sight to see so many people take a photo, stare at whatever it is and then leave. They never stay and learn about the culture and history of that spot. I’m so grateful that I was a part of the Spanish immersion program of my school. I was able to learn so much, and I gained a greater view of the world. Currently I’m no longer enrolled, however I took
Everyone at some point in their life needs to get out of their hometown, leave their native state or province, and depart their homeland. There is more out there to see than you could experience in one lifetime, but the point is you need to get out there and experience as much as you can because you cannot overvalue the experiences and stories that are born of travelling. If you are not possessed of unlimited financial resources (*read filthy rich), however, you will need to do some budgeting and planning to make travel happen. Honestly, even if you just plan a week long road trip to a state you’ve never visited, or a city you’ve never explored, the trip will be well worth whatever you spend. To help stretch those hard earned travel
