The Department of Homeland Security suggest, securing loose rain gutters clear any clogged areas or debris to prevent water damage to your property by retrofitting to secure and reinforce the roof, windows and doors, including the garage doors (Ready). Hurricane shutters are put up on your house windows to protect the inside of your house and anyone that is staying inside the house from objects that might be flying around or knocking down such as: rocks, garbage, glass, trees and much more. Mainly anything that is outside during a hurricane has a huge chance of making damage to your house or even your car. If the hurricane shutters are not put up the winds and object from outside can cause your windows to break and will make glass go all over. Also, if the hurricane breaks through your windows then the rain from the hurricane can destroy your house and also it is dangerous for people who are inside the house because they could get hurt from everything breaking and flying

“I live in a world that at any moment could erupt into fire. It was sort of knowledge that kept you on your toes” - Jeannette Walls. This book The Glass Castle is about Jeanette and her siblings, Lori, Brian, and Maureen withstanding many hardships living under the roof of their adolescent and neglectful parents, Rex Walls and Rose Mary Walls. Now the Walls’ parents are not first-rate parents, but they can be second-rate parents because they don’t take care of the Walls’ children basic needs and they don’t treat Lori, Brian, Jeanette the way parents should. Although they have some flaws there is a little good in them.
A broken window can mean a lot of things, but what matters is if it will be replaced with a new one, or left untouched. Why does it matter if it is replaced or not? leaving the window untouched defines that particular area as either abandoned or unimportant rather than occupied or cared for. This all ties into the broken windows theory, and more importantly broken windows style policing. Broken windows policing is gaining more concern by minorities every day, simply because of the outrageous procedures officer practice to keep their jobs. New York is a highlight state that is not hesitant to speak their minds, which brought up the concerns up about the broken windows policing methods and its effectiveness. It almost seems that this style of policing specifically targets low-class people of color to prevent more serious crimes as well as crack down on outstanding warrants. However, broken windows policing causes more turmoil than it does assist the public because broken windows policing is not fair since it targets low-income people of color for no reason, which shown to lead to harassment or even death. The main concern regarding broken windows policing is the effectiveness of it, the conclusion of results found in this (in my eyes) policing harassment methodology. To my knowledge, I have not come about any evidence for it that it

Have you ever walked into a bathroom and wondered if the roof was going to fall on you? In silo high school if you ever go into the bathroom you would probably think that because that roof looks bad. The parents did not provide the basic needs for their children. Finally, they had settled in a small town named Welch in West Virginia .There they bought the oldest rustiest unpainted house they could afford and every now and then they had electricity .The dad explained he had bought that house because it came with extra land .The perfect amount to build the glass castle . The glass castle was supposed to be this huge mansion made up of glass walls and glass ceilings .In addition it was controlled by solar panels .The glass castle was never built, but young Jeannette Walls saw those words as hope .Thus Lori and Brian saw those words as excuse .For instance whenever dad was asked , why didn't he have a job he would reply it was because he was

When a cop wants to illegally enter and search a residence he breaks the window. This gives him probable cause to "investigate" and any evidence he turns up becomes miraculously legal. The idea is that the state has a vested interest in keeping an area attractive because if it has too many "broken windows," it will attract crime. The argument has been used to shut down porn shops and strip clubs, among other things. It's not a bad idea, but it is open to some pretty loose interpretation, and the police will push it.
Citizens know the difference between right and wrong, the problem is police officers treat each unlawful offense they encounter differently, but when you have the broken windows policing in effect every police officer in that unit will be on the same page. The real reason people get their feeling hurt is because one day they were going five over the speed limit, the officer stopped them but they got away with a warning, now they believe that five MPH over the speed limit is acceptable. The next day they get pulled over for the identical offense, but this officer lays down the law and they receive a ticket. The broken windows theory provides enforcement with a standard.
In 2017, I feel the analogy of “broken windows” can indeed be used, however only to a certain extent. From the year 1982 to present day technology has drastically changed. Today, society as a whole plays an important part in fixing issues within a community. Law enforcement as well are now being trained to deal with possible new situations to the best of their ability. The catch phrase “if you see something, say something” is enforced by any means possible. It’s closely related to the “broken windows” theory. Additionally, if crime is on the rise in a certain area of NYC, law enforcement officials have to work alongside the community to help fix these issues. However, just because a crime has occurred in an area it does not mean the area will now be prone to other crimes or become unsafe.
A leaking roof is a problem you never should sit on as a homeowner. Ignoring the issue could end with you having much more damage that needs to be repaired when water gets into your home.
