Story Of My Life I am Addison Gatschene; I am 14 years old. My personality can be very different it just depends on how well you know me. If you don't know me that well then you would see me as a shy and quiet girl. But if you know me really well then I am fun, outgoing, and a great friend. Some of my friends see me as nice, funny, caring, fun to be around, never boring, great friend and a great person. I was born in Regina on January 12, 2002. I have lived in Regina for 10 years and I really like it here. My family lived in Edmonton for 4 years, we lived in Edmonton so we were closer to family and that's where my little brother was born. There are four people in my family, my parents Karen and Kevin. My mom is a stay at home mom and my dad works at Capital GMC. The thing I like most about school is that all the teachers are great and all my close friends from elementary are here. A typical day for me looks like; I wake up at 7:30 a.m. then I get ready for the day. Around 8:10 a.m. I leave for school. Some of the things I have at school are gym, english, science, math. My favorite subjects are math and science because I understand it and because I have lots of friends in them. Some of the things I do at lunch is i sit in hallway E with a group of friends. Stephanie Coontz is a teacher, historian, author and a scholar activist. She has also very indulged in the world of public debate on families, this mostly due possible because of her extensive skills to study modern families as well as historical patterns. In her book The Way We Never Were, Coontz presents a historical look at the family and how it has changed over time. Her interest in the subject comes for her need to understand how families functioned in the past and present, and what lead to notion and definition of family nowadays.
The writing life is the short story book which has seven chapters. It talks about how to become a good writer and how to create a good writing by passing through the perspective and personal experience of Annie Dillard. In the part of how to become a good writer, she tells her personal experience about what is the things that help she to become a good writer. Also, what is the things a writer should have and what is a person a writer should be. In the part of how to create the good writing, she compares the writing with other handicrafts such as painting, photographing, singing, and wood working (Dillard 3-6). In addition, she gives us about the idea of “Line of Words” that is the major part of creating a good writing.
I was born on April 23, 1994 in Brampton, Ontario. I have lived in Brampton my entire life. I completed my undergraduate degree at University of Toronto, and now I am here at York University completing my BEd. I am someone who values helping others above anything else, which is why my dream has always been to become a teacher. This is something that I will accomplish, and nothing will stop me from achieving my dreams!
I was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana and I was the first child of my family. When I was one we moved to Arizona for a year. Then when we moved back to Indiana my sister was born, and now I have three brothers and three sisters. My life has taken taken some twists and turns and now I live in Grand Rapids, Michigan as a manager of agents for artists, performers and athletes.
The poem “Mothers and Daughters” is written by Pat Mora. Pat Mora is a contemporary award winning writer, who writes for children, youngsters and adults. She was born in El Paso, TX in the year 1942. She attains a title of a Hispanic writer; however, the most of her poems are in English. In her literary work, one can observe the different aspects of the immigrants’ lives such as language issues, family relationships, immigrants’ experiences and cultural differences (1187).
Many times, we have memories that we would like to forget, such as an unpleasant or traumatic experience. My memory of my first internship was something that I always tried to forget, along with a lot of other negative experiences in my life. However, now that almost two years have passed, and after reflecting on it time and time again, I began to reclassify that memory as a learning experience rather than a negative experience. In life, we are faced with many obstacles, sometimes on a daily basis. Our society values stories of overcoming life’s obstacles because they are inspiring, interesting and may lead to personal growth.
Animals help humans in our lives for sharing their features. Every new experience can make a person change; sometimes the changes are positive, and other times it is negative. Either way, here is no avoiding change. Animals are kind, helpful, and playful.
In “The Victims” by Sharon Olds it describes a divorce through the eyes of the parents’ children. The first section is shown through past tense as the speaker is a child and the last section is shown in present tense with the speaker already being an adult trying to make sense of past events. The word “it” in the first two lines carries a tremendous weight, hinting at the ever so present abuse and mistreatment, but remaining non-specific. The first part generates a negative tone toward the father who is referred to as malicious by the mother who “took it” from him “in silence” until she eventually “kicked him out.” Through the entirety of the poem the children are taught to hate their father. Who taught them? Their mother showed them that their father was a villain and were taught to have no sympathy for him but “to hate you and take it” and so they did so. Although the poem never directly states what the father did to receive the family’s hated, the speaker gives examples as to why he is hated.

Through my understanding of the book, Homeward Bound by Elaine Tyler May explores two traditional depictions of the 1950s, namely suburban domesticity and anticommunism. She intertwines both historical events into a captivating argument. Throughout the book, May aims to discover why “Post-war Americans accepted parenting as well as marriage with so much zeal” unlike their own parents and children. Her findings are that the “cold war ideology and domestic revival” were somewhat linked together. She saw “domestic containment” as an outgrowth of frights and desires that bloomed after the war. However, psychotherapeutic services were as much a boom then as now, and helped offer “private and personal solutions to social problems.” May reflects her views on the origin of domestic containment, and how it affected the lives of people who tried to live by it.
"Life as We Knew It," is a book by Beth Pfeffer, which is known to be science fiction. The story involves environmental changes, which involves science but can be fictional as well because it is not likely to happen in reality. So this story was written by Beth Pfeffer and she had decided to write this book after watching a show about a meteor. She asked herself, what it would be like to be a teenager living in a catastrophe. Beth later came up with the story, writing it as a 16 year old girl's diary. The story first main point starts out with everyone getting ready to watch a meteor pass and ends up hitting the moon.

It narrates the story of a teenager whose life changes when she moves to Fir Lake with her family. Actually, the main character is Katie, a fourteen year-old girl who is insecure, emotional and sensitive. Besides, she considers herself overdramatic because of her constant concern for the challenges she faces.
In the book Life is so Good, George Dawson and Richard Glaubman give a very rare representation of life in the early 1900s. George Dawson, a poor and illiterate black man tells life as it is through his experiences. These many life experiences are portrayed in new stories told chapter by chapter intrigue the reader of the book. This paper will review Dawson’s many stories and his perspective on life at the time, as well as the way his views and mindset compares to the philosophy of African Americans at this time.
When I was a kid, school for me was waking up early in the morning. I also have to study a lot in school, then after school I have to do homework. I remember my first day at school. My mom and dad, both were so happy and prepared but I was so nervous and cheerless. I didn’t like to wake up early in the morning for school , but as time flew by I started loving school which made me wake up with energy instead of tiredness. I began to enjoy the school as I made new friends and I got to know how it is like when you meet people out of your neighborhood. With my friends I had lunch together and study together. I started to understand what the purpose of the education system. Based on what I understood I think the purpose of education is really aimed at helping students get to the point where they can learn to be on their own. In this journey of education I had a lot of positive and few negative experiences,but the negative experiences also helped me growing. Positive experiences are my teachers helping me improve, and I improved more when I moved to the United States.
