Throughout this school year, I have been in many projects that involve groups in the classroom. These projects have helped us through the work with others by showing us what are strengths and weaknesses truly are. We can use our strengths to know others that have the same strengths as we do. When picking a group, we should not choose others that have the same strengths as us. We should choose people that have strengths that are our weaknesses. This will create a much more balanced and successful group because you should a variety of strengths. This will in turn have your group produce much more quality work. You could possibly even use these strengths outside of school. For example, you could use your strengths knowledge in athletics. Every single team has their strengths and their weaknesses. When your team uses all of their strengths together, they are more than likely going to be successful. If your team all has the same strengths then you aren’t going to be successful. This would be because of not having a variety of players and not having players fill all of the roles. As well as, if your team had all the same weaknesses, then that team would be very unsuccessful. The smart strengths were definitely something beneficial from the start of this year.
In Leadership, we have done multiple tasks to help ourselves look ahead into our lives during our later years of highschool and our years after high school. We have went through a variety of tests to get some
All teachers want that perfect classroom were the students feel safe and feel like they actually can learn in there, but first you need classroom managements. You cannot teach students if they do not cooperate with you. You need to be on the same level. Love your students. Understand them. Get to know them. Teaching is not only getting them to know the material but you need to always learn from them. Ask them questions . Make sure their opinion matters. I notice that mrs priester was very involved with her students and actually wanted to be there and that's what makes a classroom so mantane because if you and the kids are on the same page and understand each other, everyday will go smooth and you will see improvements from the students. I think being apart of the kids life is very
The most important factor affecting student learning is the teacher. If the teacher is ineffective, students will achieve inadequate progress academically. Effective teaching and learning cannot take place in a poorly managed classroom. If students are disorderly and disrespectful, with no apparent rules and procedures to guide behavior, chaos becomes the norm. Teachers struggle to teach, and students will learn much less than they should. http://behaviourmanagementreport.weebly.com/
These strengths include organization, participation, and creation of checklists. I feel I stay very organized in this class, as I have all of my documents organized inside my binder ready for a notebook check. In regards to participation, I try my best to raise my hand nearly every class. I stay active and focused so that I can obtain all of the information. I also ask questions frequently which helps me to avoid mistakes or any confusion. My final strength, the fact that I create checklists, has benefitted me immensely. Checklists help to make sure all requirements are met for any project or essay, which is how I received a 91 on my Pilgrim Presentation and an 85 on my Canterbury Tales Short Essay. Checklists have helped me to score higher on assignments with multiple requirements, but not all assignments were as simple as creating a
This essay contemplates my individual development, skill acquisition and exploration of teaching approaches; throughout and beyond the International Teacher Training Organisation (ITTO) program. The problems I encountered will be discussed; and their relation to establishing where my wealth of primary teaching experience aligns with English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teaching approaches. For example; efforts to reduce my teacher talk time compared to primary school education was important, correcting pronunciation in an appropriate manner and correctly pacing both my speech and activities were areas of development that were observed, reflected on personally and subsequently acted upon.
“When groups are planned so that each member's strengths have authentic importance to the ultimate success of the group's activity, this creates a situation where individual learning styles, skills, and talents are valued, and students shine in their fortes and learn from each other in the areas where they are not as expert.”(Willis)
During this assignment I’ll conduct a philosophy of classroom engagement and management in different categories.
In the essay, Do Students Lose More than They Gain in Online Writing Classes? From the publication, Brave New Classrooms (pg. 141-151), Kiefer questions whether students gain any real benefits from an online education structure. In her essay, Kiefer discusses the many shortcomings from online learning. She makes special notice of the effect of online learning on writing courses at the college level. Online learning is a rapidly expanding learning format that takes full advantage of today’s technology. Although popular, it does have its shortcomings that Kiefer addresses throughout the article. Kiefer present her argument with her experience as a writing teacher with both experience in traditional and online teachings. Within the article she
The guidance that I got from Teen Leadership not only taught me the importance of setting goals, but also the reality of achieving them. Once I set and achieved one of those goals, I came to believe that I could be a better person than I had been in the past. Before Oak Ridge High School taught me to “SOAR,” I used to ask teachers for help before even trying. I would give up because I was too lazy to finish my homework. Now, I strive to achieve the highest levels of academic achievement and use all of the resources available to me.
I have learned a lot these past four years at Union High school. This year, however, I was a student aid for Mrs. Bestgen, she is one of my favorite teachers here at Union High school. In her class, I helped several students a day and it really helped me learn a few strengths and weaknesses about me.
Last semester was exceptionally challenging; however, it was extremely beneficial because I had to work harder than any of my other classes before. I think various elements contributed to me being unsuccessful in Nursing 204. My aunt died in March with Lupus and that affected me in a huge on the grounds that she played a big role in my life, since I was a child. I was still in the denial stage and my emotions took over, which caused me to become less motivated in school. I just felt like I had no inspiration last semester and I should not have let my emotions hindered my education. In high school, I generally experienced difficulty taking tests that were not seeking the direct answers, and the Nursing 204 tests were not quite the same as the tests I would regularly take. My procrastination last semester played an enormous role in failing the course. When I initially
Most of my direct experience working with curriculum is as an public elementary school teacher. I prided myself for many years in aligning the state curriculum frameworks and objectives with the instruction going on in my classroom, and received praise from administrators for sticking to the “playbook”. As time went on, though, I realized that my mixed ability classes were simply not performing up to my personal expectations. I began to create flexible groups for math and language arts, and differentiate instruction based on group needs and student interests. I saw significant improvements in student engagement, behavior and overall achievement.
Through this past semester, we have heavily discussed the important aspects of a functioning classroom, from different theorists to helpful teaching techniques. We’ve debated what it means to be a great teacher. There are quite a few flaws in our education system today, but I believe most of the theories we discussed could be accorporated much more in the classroom. John Dewey, Friedrich Froebel, Maria Montessori, and Lev Vygotsky all understood the way children think and the importance of imaginative play. They also understood that children need to be active in nature. Also, we have discussed different forms of learning, such as project based learning, and outdoor classrooms. In my opinion, the education system should have minor changes that benefit the students more.
If the school had leftover money at the end of the year, then the school board should consider using it for more updates around campus. For example, the playgrounds. The playgrounds are worn down and getting very, very old. They also need a modern update. It would be great for kids to enjoy something present-day styled. Another thing that should be updated is the classrooms. All of the classrooms should be bigger because it would be easier to do group activities and there would be more space for events like back to school night or open house. St. Anne classrooms could also use a modern update. New technology and new desks should be broughten in to give new classrooms the updates they need. Last but not least, the school bathrooms. The bathrooms
For instance, a teacher has been teaching her students a lesson and half of the class is not understanding the lesson. The teacher has barely three weeks left to teach four more lessons that will take a full week to teach each; she makes the decision to skip over the lesson and rush through the other ones to have time to review for the state test only to discover the lessons that were cut were the most frequent questions on the test. The teacher and students both failed to succeed; the teacher loses her job and the students are placed in remedial classes. This scenario has happened too often. Teachers have been forced to skip over lessons and slice lessons in half to find out that the students did not have enough time to learn and process the information. Because of these devastating events, the students’ self-esteems were divided in half. Students have been forced not to care about education because education has been transformed into a monster instead of a saving
One of the most essential exercises when in comes to professional development as an instructor is to continuously reflect on your perspective, methodology, instruction and behavior within your profession. Doing so ensure that you a growing and improving on teaching skills and building on old strengths to benefit you as an instructor but especially the students that you serve.
