Questions to Ask Your Study Abroad Consultant With the ever growing popularity of overseas education, international admissions experts have sprung up like tea stalls at every street corner. Some promise a red carpet walk to the admissions office, in exchange for your first born, while others let you easy on the price but offer very little in credible services. Take, for instance, MBA admissions consultants. More than any other overseas degree, MBA aspirants are the most likely to avail the conveniences of one of the many admission consultancies, in the business. In fact, nearly 45% MBA applications, in 2016, were counseled by one of the 300+ MBA consultancies. Often with a price tag same as that of a small sedan, and with the future of …show more content…
Read how UCLA rejected an application for a plagiarized essay...ouch! In fact, admission consultancies have a body, the AIGAC, that works in a framework that sets clear boundaries between ethical and unethical practices. Read ethics in MBA admissions consulting. So, besides wearing a deerstalker hat, and smoking a calabash pipe (*cough* Sherlock *cough*), while searching for that genuine overseas education counsellor, you should ask some basic, yet pertinent, questions to all the consultancies you shortlist. You should be prepared for a prompt, and transparent, response, a lack of which, in itself, is a sign of opacity – a big no-no in your selection criteria. 10 Questions to ask your study abroad consultant – who, what, and how, are they? 1) What universities have your clients got into? There are some good uses for university rankings – all based on individual methodologies, carrying some amount of weight for the over all performance, degree specific output, quality of faculty, alumni, research funding, publications and campus life. Though not identical, these are roughly similar, with the good universities popping up with ranks that are plus/minus a few between the various ranking systems. Although I had only participated in the school Cross Country team for two years, I felt very connected to the team and wish I had participated my sophomore and freshmen year as well. Over the two seasons, I have made many great friends and learned the importance of working hard to achieve my goals. Throughout my life, my parents have pushed me academically, but never really encouraged me to try hard in sports or physical activities. Cross country filled that void for me and helped me become a more well-rounded person.
Studying abroad is important to me for a multitude of reasons. The most pressing of which is,
Transitioning from the Democratic Republic Of Congo to the United States was a challenge that my family and I had to overcome. The main reason why we moved was because my father wanted a better life for my siblings and me. My father did not make enough money to pay for our education, food, housing, and other things. With the little money that he did make, he would give some to my mom so she could buy clothes and sell them in order to put food on the table. More often than not my mom was unable to sell anything so, we would go to my uncle's house to see if he could provide us with at least rice to eat with sugar. In my family's eyes, at least, the rice was better than not eating at all. One day, my father's friend called him and told him that there was a lottery game people were playing and if you won, you would be given the chance to go to the United States. My dad was the only one from my family who was allowed to play and after eight months had passed we were informed that we won! We were all so happy and ready to start a new life in America! The new excitement about moving to a better
It was a beautiful, sunny day in South Florida. I was six years old, playing by the pool with my new puppy. I loved swimming in the pool almost every day after school. I also enjoyed going out on our boat after school or crossing the street and going to the beach. My father came home one evening with some interesting news. Now, I do not remember exactly how I felt about the news at that time, but it seemed like I did not mind that much. He had announced that we were going to move back to my birth country, Belgium. I had been living in Florida for five years and it was basically all I had known so I did not know what to expect. I had to live with my mom at first, and then my sister would join us after she graduated high school and my father
When the Constitution was written, few opportunities were had to learn about presidential candidates. Become of that; the job for the Electoral College to choose the President. Appointed by their states, better educated individuals had strong votes, for the average citizen was deemed not capable of an informed decision. From the natural upbringing of technology and service industries, we have mass media at our fingertips. We have the ability to look up candidates, their platform, hell, maybe even what they ate for dinner. The Electoral College is an outdated service now distorting the sheeple of our generation, giving higher power to smaller states, distorting the media, excluding campaigns, etc. No equality within the vote.
Explain any difficulties or obstacles you’ve overcome (immigrating to the US, learning the English language, being the first family member to attend college, etc.)

After I graduate, I hope to attend a college with medical engineering based programs. The only reason I possess this dream is because I have a little cousin who had to have below his right knee amputated when he was just 3-4 months old. To this day he can walk and run and he is not any different from anyone else, which is why I want to help people just like him. To fulfill my dream I plan on trying to get a scholarship from University Of Iowa because they not only have a great school and good classes to take, but so I can be close to home as well. The skills I will need are working with math and science. I need to focus on and learn how to build a good eye for design, communication and team working skills, and how to be able to have a
The article on “Rank Colleges, But Rank Them Right" has several strong points, one of which is the need for rankings motivated by the increasing demand by students and their parents for credible ranking data. The author, David Leonhardt, effectively appeals to the reader via three avenues: ethos, logos, and pathos. As a columnist, as well as managing editor for the New York Times, Leonhardt is plain spoken and analytical in his data laced commentary on ranking colleges. Included in his summary, lending credibility to the value of and need for rankings are in the following statements: "Today the United States ranks ninth among industrialized nations in higher education attainment...;" America used to be considered to be “the most
All this are embedded into the social well being of a student studying in the UK. Academically, there are other areas that have one effect or the other that pose as challenges, and of which is absolutely paramount to every other thing.
Typically, people like to think getting up and moving to another country is as easy as it sounds. People leave their home countries for various reasons, to escape as a refugee, or immigrate for a change in life. As easy as it seems to be there are so many roadblocks along the way. The country was created thousands of years ago as the holy land but over time, it has gone through different rulers and at many times the Jewish people of Israel was exiled and forced to leave the only country they knew. The history of Israel is important because it dictates as to why immigration and leaving that country to go to others in the Middle East is impossible. People have been dealing with war, military, religious, and gender regulations in Israel
“In 2006 to 2007, according to the data compiled by the Institute of International Education, 582,984 students from all over the world were enrolled in American colleges and universities in a wide range of fields” (Carter, Paragraph 2, 2008). The United States has the highest number of students who are coming to study abroad than any other countries. Each year, the number of international students coming to the United States to obtain degrees is increasing by thousands, and home countries of these students are primarily India, China and Korea, all located in the whole different continent. But what are the motives of students who are crossing the sea to study? Their goal of studying abroad is to experience diversity and to adapt attitudes
