At 17 years old, I had the grueling task of deciding how I wanted to spend 40 plus years of my life. I always aspired to land a career in the medical field, so I majored in biology like most pre-med hopefuls, but during my junior year, I no longer desired to become a physician. The medical field was calling out to me, but the specialty of focus was incorrect. After graduation, I went back to the basics and put my nursing assistant certification to use.
The career that I plan on pursing would hands down have to be Certified Nursing Assistant. Some people may wonder why I decided to settle with this profession so I guess we’ll just have to take a walk down memory lane. Ever since I was a little girl I love watching nurses work. I never really realized how much I wanted to be a Certified Nursing Assistant until my grandmother took sick at home she had home aids come and see her routinely. I watched my grandmother struggle with her health issues and I also watched how caring and proficient the nurses were towards my grandmother. Seeing my grandmother go through the things she went through definitely made it clear to me that I wanted to do in life. And that was helping all others just like my

"BOOM!" "BANG!", went my mom of her feet onto the floor! I ran over to help pick her up off the floor. I got her into the bed and checked for any scrapes or bruises. After I got her all patched up and comfortable I came to realize that the last time this happened she hadn't had her medicine in days. So I proceeded to give her the correct medication and stayed over the next few days to nurse her back to health. Over those few days even at a young age, I realized that the medical field was just for me. I enjoyed doing what I did to help my mom and wanted to continue to help others the same way I helped her.

I have such great relationships with my residents and because of that I am able to see the impacts I have on people. I am able to see their faces light up when I walk into their rooms. Shacondra Burnette is the spark that ignited my fire to pursue the nursing field. A close family relative and hard-working passionate woman, she had gotten me my first job as a personal care assistant. Even without certification I was making great money and gaining a new experience in the nursing field. After being at it for a year straight, I decided to take it further and get my certification as a nursing assistant.
Let’s start off by saying I knew it. I have learned, I am meant to be in the health field. I scored very high in the health area of the career questionnaire. I made a choice in my high school years, to pursue a career in the medical field. In 2013 I became a Certified Nursing Assistant, then in 2015 I started to work at Pocola Health and Rehab, and I love every moment that I am there. Nonetheless, I want to become a Registered Nurse. During my questionnaire, I learned that it is a very well paying career. That’s important, but in my heart, it is very awarding to help people. I strive to do better, for me and my family and that is my goal.
Often working directly under a nurse, the Certified Nursing Assistant or CNA, is a versatile job that varies from state to state. However, one thing that always stays true is that CNA’s play an important role in caring for the patient as they often spend the most time with them.
The career I researched about is a Nursing Assistant. Nursing Assistants help patients with the daily things we do as individuals to help ourselves. The personal qualities and abilities within this job is getting the special things the patient needs in order to be healthy, such as grooming the patient, brushing the teeth of the patient, observing them, helping patients walk, making their beds, and they helping with the bowel and bladder problems for their care. In the United states it is required for Health care facilities to have Nursing Assistants. The educational requirements for a Nursing Assistant is to have a CNA credential and also a state registration. Nursing Assistants need to take programs such as a certificate program in nursing assistance. Usually you may go to a community college to have the proper education needed for the job or you may go to a university. The certificate program to become a nursing assistant takes about 18 weeks or a whole semester. Lastly they need to
A medical assistant can be considered to be a “jack of all trades” in the medical field (Xu, 2013). This profession is expected to grow 31% by 2020 (Xu, 2013). After learning about all the job duties of a medical assistant it is clear to see the importance in becoming certified. Some important reasons in becoming a nationally credentialed medical assistant is, having more job responsibilities and being able to provide more services to the patients, becoming certified also lets the future employer know the seriousness a person has in field of medical assistant, better pay rate, most importantly an employer will look at the credentials and consider that person to be less of a legal liability (Balasa, 2009).
For example, RN might be assigned for patients’ assessments, LPN assigned for certain medication administration and nursing assistant helps with care/bathing and feeding patients. All this done under supervision of a team leader another RN (Currentnursing.com, 2015).
