CBO Interview For this Assignment I had the pleasure of Interviewing Washington Union High School past CBO Mrs. Cindy Kight. Cindy is currently the Business Manager at Washington Unified School District. I asked Cindy what was the three most important lessons you learned in your career that you would share with a future CBO. Cindy response was never stop learning, learn the art of communication and pick your battles. Cindy explained with the new LCAP and LCFF it is no longer only important to know finance. The times of just needing to know the number is over. Now with the implementation of LCAP is it is more important than ever to know a little of everything. Shantelle Jones is a 17-year old adolescent female who was referred to this agency following a brief hospitalization for a suicide attempt. She resides in Rural, Michigan with her paternal aunt, Ms. Wilson, who has become her adoptive parent, as well as her younger sister, her paternal grandmother, and an adult male cousin. During her intake appointment, Ms. Wilson stated that she would like Miss Jones to be less aggressive toward her sister, less rebellious, and to become compliant with the medical recommendations of the psychiatrist who treated her in the hospital. Miss Jones stated that she would not like counseling, but if it was necessary she would comply because she would like to be less depressed and have less strife in her home life.

I interviewed my daughter in law, Veronica, who is a first-generation citizen, having both her mother and grandparents gone through the long lengthy, extensive process of becoming legal American citizens. They worked at becoming Americans. They did not sneak in.
The answer to this question depends on who you ask, or how you look at the current system in America. If you ask President Obama, of course he will tell it's working;the system is named after him. Now, if you ask medical care professionals, or the average low-income worker the answers will be drastically different. These are people who have first-hand experience with this system, and their disappointment is no secret.

An OTA can benefit from a fruitful interview. My interview with JBMT was highly rewarding and gave an excellent insight into an own culture that differs from my own which led me to understand diversity. The interview helped me get to know a lot about Mr. JBMT; his culture, occupation, and activities. Mr. JBMT is a caucasian male with ancestry origins in Italy, Germany, Russia, Austria, and England. Like most Caucasians, Mr. JBMT respects and observes holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas. During these occasions, people come together to appreciate each other with gifts and celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. Mr. JBMT celebrations with family are traditional and invoke religion.
The person I choose to interview is my husband James Wheeler. I interview James Wheeler on October 2, 2015. My interview started asking him questions on his experience on college. I find myself learning more from this interview than I could imagine. James gave me general advice about take your time, don’t get rushed by trying to meet unrealistic deadlines you set for yourself. One of the essential qualities of the leader is to have excellent communication skills. Lack of communication is a key issue in the current DHS workforce. Communications gaps between a leader and subordinates, as well as other leaders, may be the biggest contributor for a dysfunctional organization. For successful change efforts, the leader should incorporate messages that align with the vision of DHS through communication at all levels of the department both internal and external channels.
