The monetary contribution from The Mabel de Koevend Memorial Art Scholarship or The Dr. Linda Schele Memorial Art Scholarship would improve my artistic career next year not only financially but also through the opportunity to buy better supplies. I am currently working two jobs to support myself financially. The contribution from at least one of these scholarships would loosen the pressure I have experienced throughout this year, and I feel full-heartily that I could go back to working a singular job versus the two I work now. The contribution from either The Mabel de Koevend scholarship or The Dr. Linda Schele Memorial Art Scholarship would allow me to get better supplies and/or the needed supplies to succeed in my art career not only next
Julie Becker was born in 1972, and passed away in 2016 at the age of 43[i]. Los Angeles was an integral part of her life as she grew up, created, and died in L.A; however she studied briefly at Hochschule der Kunste, Berlin in 1991 and completed a residency in Basel, Switzerland at Stiftlung Laurenz-Haus Foundation. Becker was the daughter of artists[ii], and subsequently grew up in constant travel from one apartment to the next while her parents worked odd jobs to survive. In lieu of finishing her senior year at Santa Monica High School, she became the youngest student ever to attend California Institute of the Arts in 1989 at the age of 16. From CalArts in Valencia, Becker received her BFA in 1993, and her MFA in 1995. Paul Schimmel, curator at the L.A Museum of Contemporary Art, selected Becker’s MFA thesis project, Researchers, Residents, A Place to Rest 1993-96, for the 23rd São Paulo Biennial, where she was the youngest participant.
The intent of this scholarship is for financial need. Recently my step dad has change jobs which has cut his income significantly. This scholarship would really help paying for college, since I will also have 2 other siblings in college at the same time as me. I will be furthering my academic education at California Baptist University and will majoring in photography. Attending Cal Baptist will give me the best education as well as provide me with a Christian education. It is very important to me that I will have a Christian education and that I will be surrounded by a family like community. Some of my goals for the future are to become a photographer, learn to get out of my comfort zone and challenge myself, and get an internship over one
I am currently enrolled as a full-time student in the medical assisting program at Peninsula College. At the end of fall quarter 2015, I will complete the program and earn my certification as a medical assistant. To achieve my goal, I have concentrated solely on my academic career. This has left little time in my life to resume a full-time position in the workforce. As a mother of three, I know how challenging it can be to go back to school, much less try to live on one income. I hope to use this scholarship to help ease my family's financial burden. A scholarship could help me buy extra supplies, such as scrubs, closed toe leather shoes, a stethoscope and other items that are not covered by financial aid, but are all vital materials needed
According to the Art History Archive, Barbara Kruger is an American conceptual artist born in Newark, New Jersey in 1945. She attended Syracuse University in 1964 where her interests in graphic design, poetry, and writing developed. In 1966, she left Parsons to work for Condé Nast Publications and soon after began to work at Mademoiselle magazine where she was promoted to head designer. Throughout her professional career, Kruger worked as a graphic designer, art director, and picture editor for various publications including House and Garden and Aperture. Kruger’s
As the cost of education increases, many students search for assistance to help cover that cost. That form of assistance could come from burdensome financial aid or a scholarship that provides the student with an education free from debt. That’s why I am writing you today Mr. Alan Hall on behalf of the Student Scholarship Committee, bellow we have outlined the (1) the benefits to the student, (2) the benefits to you, and (3) how you can take action to help.
Kathy reviewed the funds that are available for scholarships. The Gertz scholarship has its own requirements, and Kathy reminded the group that he also donates $2,000 matching funds which is part of the MPS Scholarship fund. The Knabusch family hasn’t provided direction on funds that are in June’s name; therefore, we won’t award any scholarships from the Knabusch fund. Kathy suggested that we combine Horvath, Rye and Wertenberger to create a $1,000 scholarship. There isn’t enough funds available this year to award a Kosa Scholarship. However, Deb suggested awarding a $2,000 scholarship from the MPS funds with Kosa’s name attached. The McIntyre Scholarship will come from their endowed funds, which is stipulated in their agreement if there
I intend to make any scholarship I receive worth it and succeed in my plans because they are achievable. Through my journey through high school, I have been apart of the band and choir and have even been granted the opportunity to sing in the Carnegie Hall. I do not take any responsibility lightly and wish to prove to my family and everyone who has supported me that they were not wrong to do so. I have almost reached the first step, but I still need financial support. Your help will not be
Receiving this scholarship would be such an honor, knowing that I not only volunteered endless amounts of time o better support the community, but while doing so, inspire other youth as well. In today’s society and workforce, obtaining knowledge and skills are very necessary, and the clearest path to obtain either of those is through schooling, which is why I plan on attending Central Texas College to gain the knowledge and skills necessary to receive a degree in Arts.
Continuing my education is very important to me. I have worked diligently throughout my academic career to maintain excellent grades, participate in many extracurricular activities and dedicate some of my time to the community. My parents are both disabled and money is very tight. I do not, however, want this to keep me from furthering my education and being successful in life. I am proud to say that I am the first of four children in my family to attend college. I was lucky enough to be a recipient of the Leon and Beatrice Obenhaus Grodhaus Foundation Scholarship this past year, and I hope my hard work expresses my gratitude to the full extent. Your generous contribution to my education has established a foundation that I otherwise would not
I started working last summer to start building up money for college. As far as medical situations we don’t have many. The only thing we’re struggling with is my grandma’s upcoming brain surgery to help her to body stop shaking. We really try and support my grandparents as much as possible, since they support us in everything. I believe I need and deserve this scholarship because I have been showing since I was in third grade and have been very competitive and passionate about it. Every year we spend a tremendous amount of time and money on my projects to make sure that they are well and fit enough to take to a show. I wish to receive this scholarship, not because I need the money, but because I don’t want my parents to suffer financially due to my choice of pursuing a higher education. My goal is to go to the college of my choice, not put my family in a financial bind, and to graduate; as I will be the first out of my family to graduate from college. I am also going to work while attending college so I can be as financially independent as possible. My family has already done so much for me, the least I could do to pay them back is to get a better
My educational expenses since enrolling at Loyola in 2013 have been paid for via scholarships and assistance from my parents. However, knowing how much of a financial burden my education is on my parents, I have been striving to help pay for my tuition as well, especially since my younger sister will also be enrolling in college in 2017. Although my parents are assisting me in funding my current education, I am fully responsible for funding my own future education. In order to finance my education, I have been working for the past two years and plan on taking a couple years after graduation to focus solely on working to save money before applying to a graduate program. While the scholarship I received when I applied to Loyola has allowed me to continue studying neuroscience, the Fred & Lina Meijer Scholarship would allow me to further my studies and assist me in one day conducting research to prevent neurodegenerative diseases such as
Furthermore, with my educational goals considered, I know that it might become difficult to pay for my education. However, because I have the potential to succeed and make a contributing to the world, I believe that I am a fine candidate for this scholarship. My high school years have displayed exceptional academics, leadership, and community work. All of which, are essential components to living a successful life. One can be certain that an individual with these qualities surely has discipline and devotion to their
As a part of the Hartt Community Division, I am currently participating in a variety of different ensembles. These include Harmony Winds, a chamber group, and Concert Choir. Due to this, my family has to pay for three different groups, while simultaneously paying for the other extra-curricular activities that my sister and I take part in. If I were to receive this scholarship, It would greatly help my family stay within our budget.
My dreams of aiding others cannot be done without monetary assistance from this scholarship, which is part of why I believe I deserve the award. I have worked hard in high school in order to better myself and get into a prestigious college, but I cannot pursue my goals of getting through college and working even harder to help others get through life as well without help. Late nights studying and applying myself to the best of my ability would go completely to waste, and a mind capable of spreading knowledge to others would be pushed to the wayside. It is in human nature to want to understand the meaning behind every reason, and I would love the opportunity to appreciate the meaning behind every mind as
I greatly appreciate your consideration. Please know that this scholarship/bursary/award will make a significant positive impact on my ability to complete my graduate studies and will be greatly appreciated. I look forward to becoming a proactive development practitioner involved in indigenous-inclusive development once I graduate and begin working in the field. I can assure you that I will be a dedicated professional that you will be proud to count among your
