The First reported wreck was all the way back in 1609. In the article “Bermuda Triangle Famous Incidents of Disappearances”, The author states, “The sea venture got wrecked near the eastern end of Bermuda Island. The commander of the fleet Sir George Somers and his crew came ashore and were the first to start human settlement in the island.” (2) Christopher Columbus reported seeing strange compass readings in this area when he sailed it in 1492. While this is an extremely early sighting it is just a sighting and it was not reported or an incident. This makes it the first documented occurrence rather than the first incident as some people might believe. After 1609 there was not another incident until December 30, 1812. On the boat the Patriot
There's really no explanation for where the term bermuda comes from besides it being the name for a group of islands in the Atlantic. Triangle is part of the name because the area that covers the where the strange appearences happen is in the shape of a triangle.
Amelia Earhart or “The Babe of The Sky” most popular for being the first female aviator to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean, Setting a record for longest distance without refueling, First women to a fly nonstop transcontinental flight, also achieving many more honors all while also writing two books. While achieving another record; to be the first woman to fly around the world she suddenly disappeared on her voyage so close to the finish line. But what exactly happened to Amelia Earhart? Did she truly meet her doom in the ocean or could other theories surrounding her disappearance possibly be true? Let's look at Amelia Earhart before her disappearance. Born in Atchison, Kansas on July 24, 1897. A spirit of adventure seemed to consume the Earhart children. As a child, Earhart spent most of her time playing with her sister Pidge, climbing trees, sledding, and other outdoor play. Earhart soon Taking a course in Red Cross First Aid, Earhart enlisted as a nurse's aide at Spadina Military Hospital in Toronto, Canada, tending to wounded soldiers during World War I and when the Spanish flu pandemic was spreading. The following year, Amelia enrolled as a premedical student at Columbia University in New York. Shortly thereafter, Earhart soon changed her mind and changed schools, attending Columbia University. Learning to fly in California, she took up aviation as a hobby, taking odd jobs to pay for her flying lessons. In 1922, with the financial
Throughout the school year of 2015-2016 at the Founders Academy, I have wrote numerous essays, with generally positive results. Several of the essays exceeded expectations, while others reached expectations to a modest extent, but all of the essays were supported by the writing skills that I had learned that year, regardless of my strengths or weaknesses with these skills. These techniques vary extensively, from comparing and contrasting ideas in a text to editing and revising essays for quality results, which is proven in my writing portfolio.
Unfortunately, it isn't mystic vortex, space pirates or Japanese sea monsters that caused all this fuss in the Bermuda Triangle. According to a Norweigan research, the cause of all this may have been cratering. They discovered the craters at the bottom of the Barents Sea in the Arctic. From there, Norway somehow made a connection that similar craters could have been responsible
Importance: Christopher Columbus is believed to have discovered what is now called the Bahamas when he set sail in search of a sea route to Asia (1). Christopher Columbus was the first European to find the new land, which is why he was believed to have discovered new land, but there were already Native Americans on the land so it’s hard to say the land was discovered by Christopher Columbus. Christopher Columbus set sail out of the Spain Port of Palos with three ships known as the Nina, the Pinta and the Santa Maria on August 3rd 1492, and after 10 weeks on the sea land was spotted in the distance. Christopher Columbus was the leader on the ship but it was actually one of his sailors
With the evidence that scientists have found, there are only a picked few that we can make sense of. Some of the more popular ones, like the USS Cyclops and the Navy’s 5 torpedo bombers, really astound and persuade me to think that there really is something unusual happening in the Bermuda Triangle. They are persuading me because of how many things could have happened. Scientists believe that these ships and aircrafts get sent into an alternate or parallel universe, which is why we can’t find them. I think that most of the debri from the ships and aircrafts might be found in or around the Puerto Rico Trench, which covers 440,000 miles of sea, and is mostly undiscovered.
Off the southern tip of Florida lies a phenomenon called the Bermuda Triangle. Ships, planes, and over one thousand lives were lost in the Triangle without a trace. Theories have been put forth, but still no universally accepted explanation exists for the mystery that surrounds the Bermuda Triangle.
There have been many skeptical shipwrecks that occurred throughout time. Of the many shipwrecks that have happened, the ones that will be talked about are Ellen Austin, USS Cyclops, SS Marine Sulfur Queen, and USS Scorpion. The Ellen Austin was a cargo ship traveling from New York City to London in 1881 (Bermuda Triangle, 2016). While on its route to London, the Ellen Austin came across a schooner, sailboat, that was abandoned at sea. The captain of the
Thousands of people, ships, boats, and aircraft have gone missing without a trace while traveling over a triangle region in the south Atlantic ocean; this area has been titled the Bermuda Triangle. For hundreds of years scientists have studied and researched to find an explanation that can resolve the disappearances of all missing vessels but there just does not seem to be an explanation that fits all the criteria. Flight 19 was the first recorded unexplainable disappearance when the U.S. Navy sent five planes over this region and they disappeared without a single distress signal. After that, a rescue flight of fourteen crew members also disappeared while looking for them. The remains of Flight 19, and most other ships and aircraft, have not been spotted to date. Since then, this triangle of death has had a long and ongoing pattern of enigmatic disappearances. The U.S military officially denies that there is mystery associated with the Bermuda Triangle and attributes it just to coincidence; however, evidence proves these people are not just
Jeremy Bravo once said, “Great leaders don’t set out to be leaders… they set out to make a difference. It’s never about the role. It’s always about the goal.” Although a remarkable navigator, Magellan never chose to make a positive impact on his crew’s lives. Leading a crew of young men gave him power to abuse or use, but instead of showing these men a dedicated and concerned leader, Magellan led the boys to a slow, painful death. Magellan was not worth defending in his last battle because he accepted inhumane ship conditions within his armada, treated people terribly, and he never fully reached the goals he promised the king. All of these failures as a leader explain why his crew refused to come to his rescue.
There are many incidents in the Bermuda triangle, the first we will talk about though is the USS Cyclops. The Cyclops is one of the most popular ship losses and was one of the first stories connected to the Bermuda triangle. The USS Cyclops was a 542 foot long collier ship during World War 1. The disappearance of the Cyclops caused the largest loss of life in a noncombat situation in Navy history, with 306 lives lost and with no distress call ever received. Lieutenant Commander G.
The Bermuda triangle is a mythical geographic area. It is believed to extend from the tip of Florida to Bermuda and to Puerto Rico. Over 100 planes and ships have disappeared in the last century. There are many theories about what might cause the disappearances of theses ships and planes. Scientist have come to believe that the most possible theory has something to do with the climate change such as tsunamis, hurricanes or waterspouts. The other theory is that the compasses point to the True North and not the Magnetic North. There are other less likely theories but it depends on whether a person believes or not. There is also the theory that Atlantis might have sunk where the Bermuda
One of the the survivors that i've found that have made it out alive out of the Bermuda Triangle is called, Cary Trantham she is one of the marvelous people who survived flying over the Bermuda. “I had an experience while flying my airplane alone in a corner of the area known as the Bermuda Triangle. It was a terrifying experience and I have no idea what caused the situation and I have no idea how much time was involved before I was able to get control of the airplane” Cary Trantham. This is how she described her experience flying over the mysterious Bermuda Triangle. Those who lived to tell about the bermuda triangle each said different reactions occurred during the experience. “ Clouds have “come out of nowhere” and caused compasses to spin and engine RPMs to drop off. Objects and luminous phenomena have sped past” Gian J.Quasar. These were some things someone experienced by one of the conductors. Some similar things that happened were that all of them had failures to reach themselves to anyone else , so there was no other contact available. This mean no radios, cell phones, not even the navigational system would work including any compass's of any sort.
You might know that the Bermuda Triangle is a legendary place where numerous disappearances have occurred, but how much do you really know about it? Some people don’t believe in such a place, but some do. Research has been conducted to try and figure out what could possibly be happening here, but with no hard evidence. The mysterious Bermuda Triangle may be more than just a myth though; the Bermuda triangle has a long history with disappearances, few people live through it to tell the tale, and possible theories have been made over the years; leaving scientists questioning this strange phenomenon.
Boarding started in 15 minutes, barely keeping her excitement in control, Barbra was about to be 2 hours away from miami. Barbara was never a big risk taker she was always was the girl who would sit in the back and never do anything that would involve doing something crazy or out of her comfort zone. Flying over the Bermuda triangle was different tho. Ever since barbara was a little girl and discovered Amelia earhart went missing flying over the Bermuda triangle it became a lifetime goal for her. Eventually the plane boarded and barbara was on her way to the vacation/lifegoal of a lifetime. Meanwhile, barbara started to contemplate about the risk of doing this tour. Some of the things that were going through her head were: What if the plane crashes? What if the triangle is a portal? What if i get abducted by a mysterious creature? She was beyond paranoid, but she put the paranoia aside and went on with her day with the excitement that she still had left.
