Summer Reading Writing Portion
a) A title that I think fits is "The Deformed eye of Wonder”
b) A category/genre that I think works is comedy and coming of age because there are actually quite a lot of jokes around the end of the book and coming of age because August becoming older and starting school, as well as becoming more confident of himself.
c) l would recommend the book to kids and people from the ages of 8+ because l do not think that it's is a “just for kids” book. I think it’s for everyone of all ages.
d) The author's name is RJ Palacio, she lives in New York City with her husband and two sons. She was a graphic designer, an editorial director, and an art director, for 20 years. Wonder was her first novel, she decided to write Wonder because one day, a couple of years ago, she met an “extraordinary” in front of an ice cream store and became inspired.
e) August (Auggie) Pullman is a ten-year-old boy, who lives with his parents, his sister Via, and his dog Daisy. He has a facial disorder called “Mandibulofacial”, because of that it's hard for him to make friends, which also means that it's hard for him to go to school, so he was homeschooled until fifth grade. His parents decided that it's time for him to grow up and start going to school. They enrolled him in the neighborhood's private school called “Beecher Prep”. Before school started, he met the school’s principal and three students, their names are Charlotte, Jack, and Julian. Charlotte and Jack were really
This book represents the main character. The main character in wonder is August "Auggie" Pullman a ten-year-old boy. August loved to read and loved to do many other things like riding his bike and eating ice cream. Even though August seems like an Ordinary ten-year-old he didn't think he was. August has a rare form of Craniofacial Anomaly. He has had 28 surgeries in all of his ten years of life. He has been homeschooled because of all the surgeries but he will not have to have another one for a while so for the first time August will be attending a public school.
Not only does August have to deal with bullies because of his facial abnormalities, but he also has to adjust to a “real” school. August was always homeschooled due to his 27 surgeries. No one sees August as ordinary, well, except himself. Everyone else is blinded by Auggie’s looks and for awhile they can’t seem to look past them. But when
7) I can imagine myself re-reading this book again in 10 years because this book is amazing and it is perfect for teenagers and young adult readers. This book is griping and beautifully written. When reading this book you get thrown into the apocalyptic setting. I would recommend this book to my friends because I loved it and all the other books in the series. It’s just great.
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to go to a new school with no friends and a different face? To have everyone look at you and make a repelling face? That’s what it was like for August Pullman in the 5th grade. Auggie is different that everybody else in 5th grade. Auggie was born with a facial deformity so he looks different that other people he has had 27 so far in his life. Auggie goes to a school called Beecher Prep. In my opinion Beecher Prep has had a positive effect on Auggie’s life because now he has made more friends like Summer, Jack Will, Max G, Max W, and Reid. Sometimes it is hard for auggie to fit in when people like julian step into the picture, but overall Beecher Prep has made Auggie’s life a little easier.
I recommend this book for people who are interested in Mystery novels or architecture because there is a good balance of both in it. Although I wouldn’t recommend it to kids my age, because it is set in the 1800’s, most kids my age would not be familiar with some pieces in the book.
August Pullman is starting Middle School-his first time going to real school ever. To make matters matters even worse August Pullman isn't an ordinary kid. Read about this in R.J. Palacios bestselling novel Wonder. Auggie was born with Treacher Collins Syndrome-a syndrome affecting his face genes. He's gotten 27 surgeries since birth which is why he couldn't go to school until 5th grade.
Auggie the 10-year old boy born with a face defect went to school for the first time at Beecher Prep. The bad thing is, it was his first time at school ever so it was unusual for him. His three friends Jack, Jillian and Charlotte who he all met before school helped him throughout his journey.Going to beecher prep had a more positive effect on Auggie because it made him stronger and educated in school and in reality.
I would recommend this book to boys and girls but mainly girls. That are the age ten and older. I would because it's all about a teenage girl named Raina who gets braces and gets made fun of for them and other reasons that you'll find out if you read the
The book by George Estreich, The Shape of the Eye, is a memoir where the author explains his experience with his daughter who was diagnosed with Downs Syndrome after birth. The author expresses his shock and disbelief since this was the last thing he expected from the much awaited birth of his daughter. The reason why he acts in utter disbelief is that he and his wife did not attend prenatal visit with the assurance that his wife’s delivery would be safe and the child to be born would be okay and free from such disorders. The story acts as a motivating factor for parents who have children with such problems and may be pondering whether their children are a curse or a gift. Most parts of the book show how the Estreichs' treated their daughter
I would recommend this book to children and teenagers. I would show this to anyone who loves mystery adventure novels. I would tell them this book is about two children who secretly explore around their city and try to decode a message. Their city is running low on essentials such as food and electricity, and these children are the only chance to save The City of Ember. This was a great book and I would definitely give it a great
R.J. Palacio, who is married and has two sons, lives in New York City. Palacio had been an art director and graphic designer for over twenty years. She had been designing book jackets for other authors while waiting for the opportune time to write a novel of her own. Palacio found her opportunity when she had a chance encounter with an extraordinary child at an ice cream shop. Wonder became her first

The fear that Eye had in not serving Jesus gave me a false sense of protection in a weird way. Having that false sense of protection told me that God and his son Jesus was watching over me no matter what Eye did or where Eye traveled in the world; no matter what Eye said or what Eye thought; Eye was being watched, which technically meant that Eye was being protected too so Eye thought. Eye didn’t know it then, but looking back over my life, Eye realize that if any protection was given to me growing up, it came from those who took care of me such as Mama, Daddy, Granny Gram and others who were a part of my life, even if the protection was shaky at times.
