To address which is the smart solution to global warming, is that is something that concern to all of us, not only the government can help, but we can do something about it too. In the essay written by Bill McKibben, “The Environmental Issue from Hell” he mentions that one of the major problem is the carbon monoxide that SUVs vehicle produce. Therefore, we can stop buying those type of vehicles, seen this motor companies maybe will do something about the gas that this vehicle leave into our environment. Next, if we build a clean energy economy, investing in more industries that help to be efficient for example: solar panels, the use of less paper, more electric trains. Solar panels, are a great source of power, if you install one small panel
With all the new parts such as electric engine we are moving away from the constraining fossil fuels this could be a solution to climate change and has been seen by so many that the Los Angeles police are releasing 100 new electric police cars (Mcdermott 2). This push from gas and diesel engines make our carbon footprint decrease massively.
An urgent issue, climate change is undoubtedly a sweeping global dilemma of paramount importance. Though most people are aware of this fact, many either choose to ignore it, or acknowledge it, but take no action against it. Those who do choose to take action usually attempt to combat climate change by using the methods that are most commonly discussed: becoming more energy efficient, recycling, and reducing emissions through using more sustainable transportation. Though these actions are helpful, they are not the most efficient way to counter climate change.
“1 gallon of gas =24 pounds of global warming emissions” (UCSUSA). Many of the people in our world today don’t understand just how much The Automobile affects us, our lives, and the world we live in. Undoubtedly, the invention of the car has changed our perspective on the different technology created over the past years. However, cars are some of the leading factors towards one of the largest ongoing problems occurring in our world today. That problem goes by the name of global warming. “Since 1990, Transportation has been one of the fastest growing sources of U.S. GHG” (U.S.D.T), otherwise known as Greenhouse gasses. In which most of us know; global warming affects our health, environment, weather, and ultimately our lives. It is a
We all know that the Global Warming is a serious issue to be addressed. This is the right time to realize the importance of eco-friendly products to save the earth from global warming and its ill effects. Unfortunately the automobile emissions are the second largest contributors for the green house gases.
Is global warming a moral dilemma? Is it the public policy problem from hell? In "The Environmental Issue from Hell," Bill McKibben uses many of such phrases en route to arguing for a new approach to global warming. By discussing hell and morals, the reader’s mind is already equating it with two heavily debated issues. Therefore, we begin to question their existence and how we should deal with the subjects. McKibben wisely chooses these disputes to represent his main concerns: the ways in which consumerism affects the global ecosystem, and the impact of humans on the environment. McKibben presents a solution on how to handle each of these environmental issues, utilizing both the people and the government.
Today, there are already organizations promoting awareness of global warming and trying to make our thoughts to one. In Sweden, they produce environmentally friendly cars and give big tax; In Great Britain, they build a lot of windmills; Australia banned the sale of incandescent light bulbs and started a program called Proarbol to help stop deforestation and to increase jungles in Mexico. Countries including Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, EU, India, Indonesia, Russia, South Africa and America have set goals to reduce green house gas emission or carbon emission by a certain amount until 2020. If there’s a problem, solutions defiantly exist and all we need is a little more consideration during everyday life. Things you can do are to set you’re A.C higher, take public transportation, start using renewable energy and encourage others around you, don’t pour oil or paint into sinks, donate for eco friendly groups, don’t litter in public areas and promote the cause to people around you. Bigger things the government can do is to establish protected wild-life areas and parks, limit road constructions, reduce deforestation, build more schools, fight wrong information and to prepare for impacts. Since human can create
The path that the United States is currently on could be labeled as the “Gore Solution.” Which is a reference to former vice president Al Gore, who is an advocate to cut CO2 emissions (Lomborg, 2009). Cutting CO2 emissions is very costly and so far, isn’t producing tremendous results (2009). “If we spent $800 billion over the next ninety years solely on the Gore solution of mitigating carbon emissions, we would rein in temperature increases by just 0.3 degrees by the end of this century” (Lomborg, 2009. p. 104).
Indeed, if we accept the danger of global warming to be a real and present one, then the question of how to address it must be given serious consideration. Research conducted from as early as the 1950s through the present has afforded us a solid understanding of its causes. In the most basic sense, the problem lies in the burning of carbon-based fossil fuels such as carbon and oil which leads to the emission of carbon dioxide (CO2). Gases such as CO2 are referred to as greenhouse gases (GHGs) which accumulate in the atmosphere. GHGs can
The main reasons for Global Warming is pollution. One of the main reason are pollution is fuels like fossil fuel. To stop Global Warming the United States and other countries are not using fossil fuels and other fuels that cause pollution. Those fuels are bad for peoples' health. Also, another way is to get more job in the industries, try to stop air pollution by carpooling. (http://www.ucsusa.org/) The best thing to reduce emission is not to waste energy. People can use less heat. People use less gas. People need to take a shorter shower because they do not want to use too much hot water because the hot water heater is one largest electricity. Do not keep the refrigeration open too long. People need to use electric heat and not gas heat. People need to wait until the dishwasher is full. (C2ES,
Everyone can participate in reducing global warming. Alternate energy sources that do not emit carbon-dioxide and that can convert the sunlight, wind energy into electrical energy. Also, we should reduce the amount of electricity we used at home by turning off our computers and electricity while we are away from home. At home we should develop the habits of energy saving, choose low energy technologies and turn down your thermostats when the house is empty in winter. We can take our commitment to renewable energy. And the industry would have to reduce the emission of gases. Industrialized nation should have different emission target. We need to take action quickly to reduce the emission of gases and there should be an agreement internationally to target the emission.
The problem with global warming is that is an anthropomorphic problem. The human race is polluting and misusing our earth. The people here on earth have substantially increased the quantity of CO2 in the atmosphere. This is a result of burning fossil fuels, coal, oil and gas emissions from automobiles. The quantity of CO2 36%is higher than in preindustrial times. The more
As the world population rises, we are using more and more energy and it is depleting faster than ever. Our fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas) will not last forever and at some point we will have to switch over completely to renewable energy sources. While most of the world still uses non-renewable energy sources, the future will rely on renewable energy and its applications. Right now, over 90% of the world still uses fossil fuels and developing countries even burn wood to generate energy. At the rate we are using our fossil fuels, they will not last us far into the 22nd century. Additionally, big consumers of fossil fuels like China, U.S., Russia, and India are creating large amounts of pollution and it is only increasing. For instance, India has major issues with pollution because of heavy traffic (which releases more fuel emissions into the air), the burning of biomass (wood and other organic matter), and runoff into lakes and rivers. Right now, our biggest goal should be to figure out how to implement more forms of renewable energy in our own society. We should start using renewable energy in America because: it is more environmentally friendly, opens up the job market, and improves the health of the public.
There are a few solutions to stop global warming and the most common one is to reduce the burning of fossil fuels. Whenever people use an automobile, a car, bus, or plane, then that is polluting the air, which will warm the Earth because the ozone layer is getting destroyed. Although many people have to have transportation, if they cut down on their driving or got more energy efficient cars then it would help a lot. The car that you buy is a very important factor because “each gallon of gas you use is responsible for 25 pounds of heat-trapping gases in the atmosphere”(Ten). Whenever people burn fossil fuels it creates
We all know that the Global Warming is a serious issue to be addressed. This is the right time to realize the importance of eco-friendly products to save the earth from global warming and its ill effects. Unfortunately the automobile emissions are the second largest contributors for the green house gases.
Thesis statement: It is important that the governments and people find solution for Global Warming problem and decrease the buildings and greenhouses emission, cut down the industrial waste heat, and encourage people to use biofuel in their vehicles.
